00:00During 26 presented by CLNS media and sponsored by our good friends over at price picks and game time tickets a new
00:07Sponsor where if you want to go watch the Bruins in game 7, it's the Toronto Maple Leafs
00:14You want to do that if you want to if you want to make the bold
00:19move to make it down to Causeway Street and
00:22Defy what is looking like a maybe not so
00:26Optimistic series at this point if you want to do it and all the power to you go check out game time tickets
00:32He'll get you covered Ty
00:34How are you doing?
00:36I've had better
00:3972 hour stretches in terms of
00:41planning and
00:43frustration and
00:45overall sort of life
00:47I think the biggest thing that kind of people don't understand about what we do for work. Is that like
00:54We don't outright root for teams
00:57necessarily
00:58but things are better when teams win and when teams advance because then you have a
01:04rough idea of what your life is gonna be like like
01:07We should probably be on a flight to Florida right now. We probably shouldn't be
01:12Sitting here talking about a game 7. So from a planning standpoint
01:17I've had better weeks in terms of my life and what my schedule is gonna be
01:22I guess for the next
01:24You know, it's either the next two weeks or the next five months, right?
01:27and so that is a weird sort of balance to have there and so
01:32Better weeks I would say for sure
01:35Yeah, I concur. I concur Ty. I would dare say the vibes are
01:41When you look at how quickly things have gone on Hill for this team last five is really
01:48Look ahead
01:50obviously seven in the
01:52Boston Bruin Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday night
01:54Take a look back at game six because I think a lot of us shared a pretty similar sentiment right of like game five
02:02on home ice
02:03No show performance. Not a lot of positives take out of it
02:07Falls in line with what we've seen for years now from this team in terms of no shows on home ice in the playoffs for
02:13a game five
02:14But it sure felt like especially with this team and all the
02:18Positivity that's been preached all the you know
02:20Hopping on the culture they have here and the accountability and the veterans
02:24then felt like going back up to Toronto and game six was gonna be the
02:28Response that we all expected right like they may play a simple game on the road
02:32They've won in Toronto before you got swam in and that felt like that was how they were gonna put this series away
02:38And it'd be one thing if there was just a hard-fought
02:41I don't know for three loss or something like that three two loss where you know, these two teams are fighting back and forth
02:48trying to extend this series, but
02:51were you shocked with just how little pushback you saw from the Bruins in that game there because I
02:56had no words after the first 20 minutes in terms of how poorly they they built off of
03:02What little they could build off of in game five?
03:05Yeah, I was shocked in game five and I was mortified in game six. I
03:10Don't understand how you can continue to talk the talk but not walk the walk and
03:16At a certain point and and I wrote this column on 98 have a sports hub comm today just posted a little while ago
03:24Yeah, like you can't believe in this team because you can't just keep falling for the lip service, right?
03:30Like the fact that they lose game five and the off day between game five and six. It's an optional practice
03:37So whatever and then Jim Montgomery says I'm pissed off
03:41I'm not gonna accept how we played in game five and then they have a worse start in game six
03:46So so what's not getting through?
03:48Well, like you got to tell me what is not getting through to these guys and it's not just Oh Toronto's blocking shots
03:54like something is wrong with the way this team gets up for games the way they approach games and
04:00And now here we are again talking about probably in my opinion the most unnecessary game seven of this era
04:07Unnecessary, no, Austin Matthews William Nylander missed the first three games of this series
04:12They're going to Joseph wall who had an 890 over his final ten appearances of the season and here we are talking about a game
04:18Seven so I was mortified in game six because it made no sense
04:22To have the effort that they had out of the gate after all the talk
04:26Oh, we got to look ourselves in the mirror. We're pissed off to have an even worse start in game six
04:31It's it's it's mortifying to me as someone who watches and covers this team
04:37Yeah, I think you you hit the nail on the head in terms of unnecessary, right?
04:41like I mean
04:42hell you made the case that if
04:44We look back on this series a couple days from now and the Bruins are
04:47Packing the bags and like how much of a missed opportunity that game five was cuz like game six
04:51All right, you don't respond you give them new life and they feel good about Joseph wall in that though again
04:57He's made some timely saves when needed but like they're not
05:00Pressuring the guy and hell it's a lot easier to get through those initial, you know
05:05Butterflies in your stomach and settle in when you're facing three total shots on goal in the first periods of two games, right?
05:11Like what as much as like the again Toronto's blocking a lot of shots. They're playing committed
05:16Solid defense without Matthews in there like all the credit to them. They deserve it for fighting back and actually showing
05:22Urgency, which the Bruins have not done at all the last couple of games
05:26To go into Toronto just with that flat of a performance it it's true like what isn't
05:33Resonating here. What is it that we hear all these positive things about how they're they're confident. They've been here before they've got veterans
05:40they they can lean on guys for experience, they're all committed to it and then to
05:45to
05:46Really do nothing for that first period up in Toronto. Like is that coaching?
05:50Is it the players like where where exactly does the blame pie kind of fall right now in terms of one that game six?
05:56but just where the Bruins are right now because it is
05:59Absurd that we're at this point right now against this Toronto team that has fought back
06:03But man, you look at game five going into that game. They're not good on the ropes
06:07They're not he was on that team was on the ropes
06:10No 100% and when you take Austin Matthews out
06:15The center matchup becomes much more equal footing than ever before
06:20It's Max Dolby and John Tavares against Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zakha. That should be a draw that should not be
06:27What it's been for Toronto, which is?
06:30Toronto's top six last two games has outshot the Bruins went on the ice
06:3434 to 20 and outscored them 3 to nothing and so for me
06:39the blame pie for game 6 is
06:4265% on the players because
06:44It doesn't matter at this point what Jim Montgomery does with his fourth line left wing or his sixth defenseman
06:51It's about the star player showing up and for the second game in a row Pavel Zakha looked like he's playing with one arm
06:58You know, David Paul strong did not look good. Brad Marchand did not look good. I didn't the only guy going in
07:05That top six and game six was Jake Debross. I think that was it
07:08Yeah, that was it and and that can be a good sign
07:11It can also be at a horrible sign and it was a horrible sign in game six
07:15And so I put the blame for game six on the players game five the lineup. It is what it is, right?
07:21I don't love taking I
07:25I've said this before to you. I don't love that. Matt Grizzley is either a healthy scratch or top pairing defenseman
07:31I don't think that makes sense for your team
07:33I don't think that makes sense for his confidence as a player and I didn't like what it did to Mason Lowry who I thought
07:39Was one of their better players in game four. It really kind of bumped him down the depth chart
07:45That said that should not be the make or break for this team
07:48You're 12th forward. You're 11th forward. You're 60. You're 50. That shouldn't be make or break for you
07:54This time of year is defined by your star players. And so that's why I'm saying 65% on players
08:01I'm gonna say 35 on coaching if only because the start was even worse than the game before and
08:07We were told and we've seen this that Montgomery is a guy who motivates players he gets them up
08:14He doesn't beat them down. He lifts them up. Why are they not fought?
08:19Why is he not lifting them up for the starts of games like that?
08:21Like this has been a problem now all season we have said way too many times
08:27It's not a great start. Yeah, they came alive late, but not not a great start
08:31Like you can't have late starts in the playoffs
08:34It's the playoffs and so part of that for me comes back to coaching. I think how about you?
08:39Yeah, no, I agree. I mean, I think you just look at this team and the star players you have out there and
08:47It's just something where
08:49The fact they haven't delivered in a couple of these series now in terms these guys and it kind of reminds me
08:53This is looking back a couple years. I know people look at oh and six and clinching games since 2022. What have you but
09:01When you look at this game six where your best players are like the brusque
09:06Yes for a boat quest and like rookie Mason Laurie who's trying to make something happen there getting some bucks on net
09:11You remind you of like a game 7 of 2019 when your best player was joking Nordstrom. Yeah, Marcus Johansson
09:18Yeah, like the same vibes
09:20Yeah
09:21The same exact thing in terms of like you've got you've got the star talent with this team and yes is this team as good
09:27No, we've established that but hell you still have some really damn good players that should be able to make an impact
09:33We've seen it
09:34It's not just in like just the regular season like David person like has had dominant stretches of playoff play in the past
09:40You think now at 27 coming off of his best year you could elevate at this time
09:45We saw earlier on in the first run last year against, Florida
09:49Charlie Coyle like took Sasha Barkov's lunch money in the first couple of games has not had that happen in this
09:56It was against guys like Max Domi and John Tavares and John Tavares is a still a good player
10:01But not what he was a few years ago
10:03That should be an even matchup or at least closer than I think people expect in terms of where those guys are at their trajectory
10:09like if you're not having your star players elevate right now and even like
10:13Look on defense with like campus lint on last year was injured. Yes had a really really poor
10:20postseason
10:21Have you seen a rebound yet? And like Charlie McAvoy?
10:24You're your guy you're relying on in all situations
10:27What have you seen from him in terms of these last couple of games?
10:30He was puck watching in game five not watching the net front for Matthew Nye's OT winner
10:35It's on the ice for these two goals against in game six has an unnecessary
10:38Icing leads to kneel in his first goal. It was pretty much screening swimming on the play as well like
10:44These are the guys that have helped you exceed expectations in the regular season for all 82 games
10:50Needs to carry over we're not expecting this team to win the Cup or be playing into the end of May early June
10:55But hell when you look at who you're matched up against
10:58This talent this score should be enough to get you over that finish line against a team like Toronto without Matthews in the lineup
11:06Especially in and I think you just nailed it on the head. I want to add another sequence there
11:10You know, we're talking about Charlie McAvoy and David Pasternak. This is their era like Brad Marchand
11:16Like he's the captain but make no mistake about it
11:19We are in the Pasternak McAvoy era. These guys are at the age where they're in the prime of their careers
11:24They've been through the battles. They were on that 2019 team
11:28They both wear letters now like they are the next wave right and they've both been in my opinion
11:34Miserable in games five and six and and the other thing like you mentioned the McAvoy missteps
11:40Pasternak breaks over the attacking line the attacking blue slams on the brakes
11:46I don't know what he's trying to do loses the puck and he takes a high-sticking penalty
11:50What was the end goal in the first place of that play? Like like what are you doing right now, dude?
11:54and there just seems to be this lack of composure with these guys that
11:59Need to set the tone for you, right? Like you look at this series the way it's been defined
12:03You know your game breakers have had games you had the Martian game in game three
12:08You had a swayman game in game one Matthews in game two. I'll call last night the knee lender game. I'm okay with that
12:14He was productive. He scored the goal that he needed to to put the Bruins away
12:18Where's David Pasternak? Where's Charlie McAvoy? Like these are your two highest paid players?
12:23They are the face of your franchise both present and moving forward and they have not they have not shown up
12:29They have not shown up in this series and now they're down to their last
12:33gasp here and
12:35If they don't show up, this is gonna set narratives for years
12:40Like this is gonna set the narrative it and and
12:43Speaking personally, I think that the Pasternak narrative that he comes up small and big games
12:49I think it's bullshit. But if he has another game like he like he's had in game five and six in game seven
12:56What am I gonna say to that? I can't defend that. I can't neck now. It has life now. It has legs
13:01I think Pasternak was your best player in game six and seven last year against Florida and
13:07He was in line for the game-winning goal both those games didn't happen that way this year this is bad
13:13This is that your first year post Krejci and Bergeron and this happens. It's a bad look man
13:20It's just a bad look. So there's a lot of pressure on those guys to deliver in game seven
13:24Yeah, it's just really
13:26Some sort of over game you it's a little takeover guy like a little bit from park
13:31Be great if they had a four-point night from Pasternak
13:34But even if you just had more of these guys that are so key to this team success step up
13:39You'll take that in game seven tie before we dive more into

15:23Once again, shout out to our good friends over at prize fix. All right, I'm looking at a game seven
15:28I guess I'll keep it pretty straightforward with this one. Is there anything you've seen from this team?
15:34That gives you confidence going into game seven. Let me tell you I'm not feeling that great
15:39Is it the fact that we all think that they're done and they're cooked and that's why they're gonna win like
15:45There's just nothing from these last two games to give you any any
15:50Hope and that may sound strong, but I just don't think that they've made life difficult enough for Joseph
15:55Oh, I think he's way too comfortable in there. I think they've been stubborn with decisions
16:01They've made this team is having a hard time stringing two passes together right now. Like like they they are
16:07Struggling hard and so, you know, maybe if you want to feel good about something anything
16:14it's that
16:16If their guys show up to play, I think you have more natural talent at
16:22Key positions than they do. I think you're better in goal
16:26I think your second best defenseman is better than their second best defenseman
16:30If there's no Austin Matthews the center matchup as we thought note noted earlier should be equal
16:36I think David Pasternak is a better player than William Nylander
16:41But these guys got to show up that
16:44Everything I just said means absolutely nothing if they don't show up again, and they haven't shown up now for two straight games
16:50So therein lies the problem, you know the chief problem
16:54Among all but if you can just string together a good 60 minutes
17:00Your talent should win out like you have better talent than they do
17:04And it may not be by much but it's at key positions
17:08I think and that's that's the only reason you you should feel confident. I
17:12Connor I I wrote this today. My brain is broken
17:15I think my brain is officially broken by this franchise because I don't want to sit here and tell you
17:21Oh, I feel good about a game 7, you know, why cuz I felt good about a game 7 in
17:262019 I felt good about a game 7 in
17:292023 like I don't know what to expect because this team has given me no reason to expect anything besides calamity
17:37Yeah, it's like I think I texted you and our esteemed colleague Evan yesterday's like this series is now like my I am going
17:45to become the Joker arc in terms of because like again, I think we both you know, our
17:52Will take this team to task and are critical when they do not deliver and I think we've done that throughout time
17:57We've covered the team, but we tend to I think focus in on the the sky isn't falling. Let's be rational here
18:04it's you don't have to come in hot with a hot take earlier on in this year, but like
18:09man, I sure feel kind of dumb right now in terms of sticking with that measured approach because right now all of the
18:16Denae saying the thing about these guys are soft or they can't deliver
18:22Passar needs to do more and McAvoy isn't the number one guy that they expected
18:26Those people sure feel right right now, and I sure feel really dumb
18:30And that kind of let me tell you that kind of sucks the 1,000 people I have muted are
18:36Dancing in the streets and I can't say hey, you're wrong. I can't yeah, exactly, you know, like so it's it's like what what?
18:43What will dissuade me from?
18:45Thinking I knew those people are right all along because as much people look at like this game 7 against Toronto
18:50It's like yeah
18:50Well, I guess maybe there's history working in your favor against a team like Toronto the team that has not shaken
18:57This label of being perpetually
19:00Underwhelming in the playoffs of not having a killer instinct of you know, not showing up on hockey's highest stage
19:08Doesn't it's gonna sound like your team last couple of years
19:12It's a choke off right now. Yeah, it's it's who's gonna piss their pants more
19:16For the record you never want to find yourself in a pants pissing contest. It's typically not it's not a good use of your time
19:22No, you got to change the pants. It's a whole thing. You don't want you don't want to do it jeans, too
19:27Ernie Pete his pants. All right, Ernie like well, you don't want that. That's fine for Billy Madison, but I don't need it. Um
19:34what I would say is that like the other part of this too that is is interesting and
19:39I don't know how they're gonna react to it or respond to it rather is like there's a legacy on the line here
19:46Yeah, like if you lose to Toronto, it's kind of like the Yankees losing to the Red Sox in 2004 like
19:54goodbye
19:55four-to-one memes goodbye not today Justin memes and
20:00The Bruins don't really care about that internally. I would imagine but like
20:04The last constant that this team has had is that they will own the Maple Leafs
20:10Doesn't matter when doesn't matter where they will use them as a launching pad
20:14to the next round or to get their game, right, whatever the case may be if that
20:20Leaves and now you lose again in the first round for the third year in a row
20:25you're just the Penguins without the Stanley Cups at this point like and the Stanley Cups as it turns out Connor are a critical part of
20:32being an NHL team like
20:34You can deal with losing in the first round three years in a row
20:37If you if you had a dynasty a back-to-back run there, they don't have that
20:41And so there's a lot of legacy in the line here beyond the obvious of the Boston Toronto rivalry
20:47It's what we talked about earlier with Pasternak and McAvoy like this is their team now
20:51You can't if they lose this they will be the first team and not just the NHL ever
20:58But North American pro sports to blow a three-to-one series lead in back-to-back seasons
21:03That's insane that no team has done that in like first of all baseball's been around for like a thousand years like
21:10veterans played in baseball never happened in baseball like
21:13Like it's wild to think that this is this could potentially happen to this team
21:17Yeah, no, it is a a lot of legacies a lot of I think labels a lot of narratives are
21:23On the line on Saturday for a lot of key guys that aren't going anywhere, right?
21:28These guys are gonna be signed long-term in Boston gonna be around for quite a bit if you don't deliver in this game seven
21:34It's gonna stick with you
21:35it's stuck with the Maple Leafs throughout the last couple of decades and it sure is tough to shake a narrative when you're if
21:42You are the team that loses back-to-back 3-1 series leads first team ever as you said
21:48It's not like you know, listen, this is hockey shit happens
21:51There's been plenty of very talented teams that bow out in the first round. It was 3-1. Oh
21:56Not great. It's hockey back-to-back years
22:00Tough to shake that that's not great. And and I I'm always trying to be I
22:06Never want to perform an autopsy before the body's actually dead
22:11If they blow this
22:13Don't you have to make some sort of massive change like?
22:18Organizationally, like I don't even know if just like all Montgomery's out. Like I don't think it's that simple. Like you have to
22:25have a legitimate
22:27upheaval of the culture that you've
22:30Lauded for years right because what good is the culture if it keeps ending the same way every year?
22:36that's great that you have a close community in a close locker room like but
22:40It's not gotten you where you need to be
22:43You know at the end of the day in the professional in the world of professional sports, which is about winning championships
22:47Not about having the tightest locker room
22:49And so there's legit questions here if they blow like it's wild. I think that I think that
22:55For either team is playing for their legacy right now and they're playing like I think both teams are playing for their legacy playing for
23:01Their future playing for the direction of their franchise at depending on what happens here. Yeah
23:06Absolutely and that's something we'll dive into a little bit more to close out this podcast

25:11All right, how you kind of alluded to it, but you look at what's at stake. I think in this game seven, right because
25:18Listen, they lose. It'll be shitty won't be great
25:22Losing and having another game and on home ice even with maybe the lowered expectations. We had going into the year
25:28I feel like that all changes goes out the window
25:31it's like after if they won in game five took care of business against a
25:36Depleted Toronto team. I lay the favorites against Florida
25:39No, of course not but you look at how swim was playing how guys were all pulling on the rope
25:44You're like this is gonna be a fun series. We'll see what happens
25:47You know, it's playoff hockey see if they you know, there's the revenge aspect to it
25:52See what they can do now. It's like I don't know
25:54Maybe it's just the apathy setting in but it's like, all right
25:57Even if they get through like what what can we actually expect out of this team in this core when second year in a row?
26:03They just haven't been able to land a knockout punch. So when you look at what's at stake
26:07Yeah, if the Bruins lose I do I do feel like Jim Montgomery's a guy that his job has to be in question
26:14you would have to imagine that that seems like the domino that would fall but you said it like
26:20What do you do with this core there's like this team like it's set up with these guys signed long-term
26:25And with cap space that you can you should be adding to this team, but it's like the core
26:31Not functioning the proper ways
26:33It's like the team you should be investing in because I don't know like I heard on the radio today
26:39People were mentioning like just blow it all up. You can't do that. And listen, you don't want to go
26:44yeah, and again, the Red Wings are a
26:47Blue blood NHL franchise, they want to be good their fans want to be good and they've sucked for years and years despite their best
26:54effort, it's very tough to have all these things aligned, but
26:58If you do lose like what is at stake for the specifically these players in this core?
27:03Yeah, I think you enter more and more into the hockey trade
27:08Conversation right? Like I think we I think we assume that Lena Solmark is gonna be traded in the offseason
27:13All signs kind of point to it, especially if Jeremy Swayman win or lose post, you know, a
27:18935 or whatever it is in the playoffs like like that's a guy that you keep around
27:23And so we assume that he's gone. But now does that become part of a greater deal?
27:27Like is it is it all mark package with somebody else who was under contract then you try to bring in a massive haul
27:34You know versus just saying oh, we'll take a first-round pick in a mid-tier player, right?
27:39And so that discussions there it's really interesting right because like you talk about
27:46Jim Montgomery and I would agree with you. It's hard to imagine him surviving a second straight 3-1 series collapse
27:53especially with you know
27:55His contract status, I believe was a three-year contract. So he's entering the final year of it
28:00Is it do you want to commit to that guy or do you want to make him a lame-duck?
28:04Why don't you just get rid of him because neither you're not comfortable with him
28:08Neither you're not comfortable with either one of those pathways and you just blew it again
28:11Like no coach has ever blown two three one series leads in back-to-back years, dude
28:16Not even doc rivers did that which is like crazy to think about but anyway, that's different sport. I know but um,
28:22It's unprecedented, right? It's it's it's completely unknown. And so
28:26I and I and at the same time I think
28:29Front offices will always fire coaches before they fire themselves, right? They're gonna they're gonna buy themselves some more time
28:36Do does bruins ownership allow don sweeney to fire a third coach like
28:41That's a legit question. I like at a certain point a lot of coaches man
28:45That's a lot of coaches you've kind of gone through and and we're still kind of waiting for whatever. Um,
28:51So it's hard to understand the pathways that they that they could have
28:55They're aided by the fact they have a lot of money in this offseason
28:58If the cap is 88 million
28:59They have a lot of money to play with especially if they trade lenis and it's 5 million like they can make a big move
29:04but
29:05There's there's peril within that like we're we were talking about noah hannifin four months ago. Well
29:11Not getting him now like like you can't just keep waiting for these guys to maybe hit the open market
29:17and so
29:19It's just a weird spot for them, but they would be in line for a culture shake-up
29:24You know kind of like when they brought in david backus after after blowing it
29:27In game 82 and back to back years. I said we need another voice in here. These voices aren't working right now
29:33They bring in david backus
29:34It was good for a year and a half. I I would say and then it then it went to hell but like
29:40Do they go all in for stephen samco's right? Like is that something they like?
29:44I don't know what you do. I don't know what you do. But but I think that it would be a legit
29:49Culture reset like you would try to bring in
29:52You know a guy who's gonna rattle some cages. That's the biggest thing. I remember about when they brought in david backus
29:59talking to people
30:01It was we want a guy who's going to rattle some cages
30:04We want a guy who's going to kind of be in people's faces a little bit and he they didn't mean the opposition
30:10they meant internally like wake the hell up and play the game we got to play like
30:15I just wonder if that kind of guy is out there for them to bring in
30:18He's got to be a good player though, too
30:20So yeah a hard balance to find those guys don't really hit the open market all that much
30:25No, it's it's jarring to look at just how much this
30:29This whole outlook of this team
30:31It has changed in the last couple of days because like again
30:34You go on to the next round you win in five or even if they take care of business in game six
30:38We all kind of expect it to let down in game five. That's just what this team
30:42Tends to do you win in game six you go to florida make it a competitive series
30:46You go from there going to this offseason. You still got guys like pasta macavoy sign a lot of money
30:52You're gonna be in the mix year in year out. You got younger guys like laurie and potter develop
30:57You're on the right path
30:58This was a bridge year and you aced it with flying colors in terms of having a competitive
31:03Second round series, right? I think we would all tend to agree with that in terms of just how this went
31:08but if you blow a 3-1 lead again
31:11and you've reset these expectations, you're right like it's not that
31:14staying the cautious isn't gonna work if this team is just
31:19Internally broken and it's not to say these guys
31:22Aren't tight or the locker rooms, you know toxic this isn't like the one impact jets we're talking about but
31:27When you look at the results on the ice
31:30you've got to change something right like it something has to change in that regard and just
31:36it's shocking that we've hit this point so quickly when I think we recorded last week when this team was on its way to a
31:42Five six game, you know series victory changed the entire complexion of this team that now even if they win
31:48there's still probably people who are like
31:50What do we got here? All right, like we'll go play panthers and maybe they'll win a game
31:55It's like just the entire complexion of this season and the path of this team
31:59Just seems like it's been sour off of just what we've seen on the last couple of games
32:03And now it comes down to 60 minutes, you know comes down to 60 minutes on saturday night again a game that you shouldn't be playing
32:10um, and you brought up something that that I agree with and that I want to be mindful of right like
32:16Don sweeney did a great job of building a bridge roster
32:19Now when that bridge roster goes up three to one
32:23And then it starts to slip. I I don't want to hear that. It's a bridge year
32:26You're up three to one close it out
32:28It shouldn't be hard to win one game before you lose three this team did that all year long
32:33They were able to do that
32:34And so I that's what I don't like
32:37I don't like the goalposts moving of like when they go three one and it starts to slip like ah, well, you know
32:42It's a whatever year anyways, and it's like no that's not the point
32:45The point is like you have a core here
32:48That needs to have a killer instinct to be the core moving forward
32:53If you don't have that I don't want that core. I want a different core
32:56And so that's that's the part that I come back to
32:59um
33:00And that I don't really want to hear from from people if they blow this series
33:03Oh, well, the expectations were low. Yeah, and then they changed and like then they were up three one
33:10The expectations change when you go up three one
33:13If you told me that they're gonna lose a series to a full-stocked
33:18Toronto team in six games, I would have said
33:20Yeah, okay. I mean I get it but then if you told me that in in august, right?
33:25I'd be like, okay. I I get it. Whatever
33:28If you tell me that that they're gonna lose to toronto in game seven
33:33Last week i'd say I don't want that. No, i'm not going to accept that so your opinion
33:38And your feelings on the ceiling and on the roster can change and they have changed with this team
33:44this team in my opinion is still good enough to to
33:47Hold on to a three one series lead and finish the job. And if they don't
33:51It's an ugly ugly look for them. And so now we wait now our eyes turn to saturday night at td garden
33:59and
33:59The the second round who knows if they win this maybe they get a second wind and they knock out florida
34:05I don't know. I don't know what to expect but you know
34:09The the feeling i've had in my mind now since game six went final even since game five really
34:16I've had this feeling of they're not going to do this again. Are they?
34:20and
34:21I don't want to say that
34:23During the second intermission of game seven
34:27Like make it make this a no doubter
34:30We're going to the next round
34:32Don't worry about posnack. Don't worry about mcavoy. They're going to get their shit together
34:36Those guys got to get it together because if they don't again those narratives we talk about they now have actual life
34:43and
34:45They have life beyond sports radio. They have life beyond fans online
34:49Internally, they're going to be asked in those questions. Do we have the right complexion to win a stanley cup with these guys?
34:55Yep, game seven awaits. Hold on to your butts people. It's going to be
35:01Awful win or lose. It's going to be
35:04Uh an eventful night over on causeway street. What's your game seven record since covering the team?
35:09Oh, that's a good one. Uh, I feel like you've experienced just misery
35:14Yeah, I was there so I wasn't like full-time covering but my first game seven was 18 and that game rocked
35:21That was a good group tied it deborah's getting two goals. Awesome game was there in 2019 when they won
35:27Uh in against the maple leafs and then what i'm trying to remember all of them now st. Louis, we know how that ended
35:34um
35:362022
35:37Carolina I was down there for that
35:39Yep that game again like tough break domey had those had the goals there
35:42But like that was at least a tighter game
35:44They made a great push at the end like that's just lose to a better team
35:48If you played like the florida you play games like that and come up short
35:52You'll take that I was not down in carroll. I had covet for that series. I missed I missed the final
35:58Three games that series I was in quarantine. I got covet. I'm pretty sure from charlie mccaboy
36:04I flew in
36:06I flew in like the morning of and that like the flight was delayed
36:09So I literally got I think time the game was whatever was less than 40 minutes for a drop and to like my way
36:17Just fans all carolina fan get into the building wasn't a lot worse, uh, and then
36:242020 we all know that and that was one and I you look at the way that was going because they were
36:30Going in third, right?
36:32And that's one. Wow. They're really gonna do, huh?
36:34This isn't easy because they were gonna you know
36:37As much the the vibe built off after game six in florida. It's like this team's still too good
36:44This it's gonna be one it's gonna be like a four four two, right? Yeah, then
36:48found out right away like
36:50Something's off, which I think we're gonna find out pretty soon. I think what exactly this team is made of
36:55uh when the puck drops in the first period so
36:58We will see i'm trying to think my my game seven record
37:03Uh as a fan in the stands it was uh, it was oh and two
37:07I was there for carolina in 2009 and I was there for philly in 2010
37:13Um as a reporter covering the team
37:18Um, 2011 helps out a little bit, huh?
37:202011 does hell I was not in vancouver because I could not find a flight to vancouver
37:24And I was 19 years old and I was like, I can't pay 800 for anything right now
37:30Um, I was a rookie rookie reporter covering the team then
37:33Um, it's sub 500. I know that I know that for sure. That's bruins
37:39Three, uh, I did the math real quick. I'm five and four actually in game sevens in real life. Um,
37:47Two of those five are again
37:50No, i'm six and four three of them against toronto 13 18 19. So, um
37:56We'll see if they can do a three pete or a four pete because my math is unconfirmed right now
38:00Uh, we'll see if they can do a three pete or four pete on saturday night
38:04We'll see so I think the important thing is I at least have two game seven wins under my tenure here
38:10I think the biggest key is we just can't have evan marinovsky in the building. Yeah that clown get that clown out of here
38:16Yeah, exactly
38:17So we'll see if we can get security to escort him off the premises
38:21But as we ready for game seven tie i'm gonna plant some fake drugs on me
38:25That's a king. That's a king of crank get him out of the building
38:29I think they already have security honed in on him. Anyway, so they already they already know his face
38:34Hi as we get ready for game seven, where can we uh, read your stuff? Where can we hear you all that good stuff?
38:41Yeah, so you can hear me on 985 sports
38:42Sub, uh, i'll probably be doing a hit tomorrow with the hockey show
38:45But we'll see based on morning skates at the garden not warrior. So it might be a little bit tougher to make that happen
38:51Uh also, uh, read me on 985 sports up.com. I just dropped a column on friday
38:56Talking about the unknown of a game seven basically everything we just talked about
39:00In written form if you like that and less time consumed but not as entertaining I will say
39:05Um, and so so yeah, so you can find me at twitter, uh x underscore ty anderson on threads at underscore
39:11Ty anderson trying to use that one more because a lot of people are on there and I keep yes
39:17I keep getting tweets or they're not even tweets
39:19They're threads whatever they are from people saying hey use threads more we're on threads and i'm like, all right
39:23I'll do it. So, uh, I try to be a people pleaser
39:26I can't I have a facebook page, but I can't I don't I don't know how to use it
39:30I mean I do but it's it's I don't know how to use facebook either
39:32There's too much stuff going on with face right now
39:34Too cluttered i'm in my old age and I have like my little my little glasses down trying to scroll through it
39:39I'm, I feel like i'm out of my element now exactly. Yeah. Yes, so
39:43How about yourself?
39:45Yes, you can read all my stuff over at boston.com in the boston globe
39:49I'll be uh with the globe team and that awesome crew of writers for however long this uh, playoff run goes

40:01You can find me on twitter at connor ryan underscore 93 and all that good stuff
40:05So I I like the globe crew you guys make me feel like i'm like an unofficial member of the crew
40:11It's like it's like how vince staples was like an unofficial member of odd future. That's like very much
40:16The the globe the globe team is just like odd future. No, it is a fantastic team that i'm very thankful. I get to work with
40:23Uh every single day with the team they have over there. Um, but yeah
