00:00Hi there, this is me Ansh Pandey and you are watching Poll Pulse on One India English.
00:13The two phases of election are over and with it approximately 190 seats have already recorded
00:20their mandate in the EVM machines.
00:22Now the eyes are on the third phase of the election and so the campaign is also going
00:27on in full swing.
00:29In today's episode of Poll Pulse, we will talk about how someone got checkmated on social
00:33media despite double candidacy, how a former CM and a reigning CM lost their school on
00:41poll officials who were on duty, whereas how another Congress candidate was forced to return
00:47her candidacy and at last we will see who filed an FIR on Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
00:55Too many stories to talk about, so without any further time, let's delve into this recap.
01:02Starting with the big news of the day, well, politics and professional chess are actually
01:07similar in strategy making and checkmating, still both of these are not everyone's cup
01:12of tea.
01:13Recently, Rahul Gandhi shared a video on his Instagram sharing his profoundness for the
01:19game of chess and how Garry Kasparov is his favourite player.
01:24But little did Mr. Gandhi know what was about to strike him.
01:28He would have thought twice before making a comment on chess.
01:32The world chess champion Garry Kasparov indirectly criticised the Congress MP Rahul Gandhi who
01:37is contesting from both the Raibarili and Wayanad Lok Sabha seat.
01:42Kasparov suggested that winning Raibarili should come before aiming for the top, implying
01:48that Rahul Gandhi's ambitious move is just a facade.
01:53Kasparov's remark shared on Friday night was prompted by a tweet expressing relief
01:58that he retired before facing the greatest chess genius of all time, Viswanathan Anand.
02:03Responding to that tweet, Kasparov hinted at the importance of securing victory in Raibarili
02:09before aiming higher.
02:11His comment went viral on social media getting massively retweeted because Kasparov is actually
02:17keeping a check on Indian elections.
02:21However, after that, actor Ranbir Shoray also shared a tweet featuring Rahul Gandhi to which
02:25Kasparov responded cautiously hoping that his jest wouldn't be misread as a political
02:31expertise.
02:32He humorously acknowledged his observation as a chess enthusiast, noting that the political
02:37undertones were not related to Rahul Gandhi.
02:40This comment came hours after much anticipation when the Congress announced Rahul Gandhi's
02:45candidacy from Raibarili and not Amithi.
02:49Recently, Rahul Gandhi also likened politics to chess in an Instagram video recalling his
02:54early chess victories and expressing admiration for Kasparov's strategic prowess.
02:59He drew parallels between controlling the center in chess and in politics, stressing
03:04the importance of clarity in political strategy.
03:07But nope, it looks like Kasparov ain't a great fan of Rahul Gandhi's strategic prowess
03:12to abandon Amithi.
03:15Well, it is politics and of course, how come can there be a day when the esteemed politicians
03:19didn't lose their cool and go viral on camera due to rage?
03:23Today, the man who has gone viral is actually a former CM and a ruling CM too.
03:29But whenever you see them in images, they always have a smiling face but not today.
03:35In Rai Sen, during a rally, the former CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan and other BJP leaders
03:40expressed their anger against the police officers.
03:43Even CM Mohan Yadav also went to the extent of calling the police foolish.
03:48Actually, Dr. Mohan Yadav arrived in Rajgarh on Tuesday to campaign for the BJP Lok Sabha
03:54candidate Rodmal Nagar.
03:57Here when the police kept the public and workers away from the stage to listen to the rally,
04:01the Chief Minister got angry.
04:03He said, who is the police officer who is overseeing the arrangement here?
04:07It's not your place to decide, let everyone come.
04:10What kind of arrangement is this when you distance us from the people?
04:15He also told the police officers that they lack intelligence.
04:18Furthermore, the BJP candidate from Vidisha and former CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan expressed
04:24his anger during a night rally when the police officers actually shut down his mic because
04:29it was already 10 pm in the night.
04:31At that time, Shivraj Singh Chauhan expressed his anger saying that how did you shut it
04:35down?
04:36Shivraj Singh Chauhan, I want to talk to the people.
04:38Take a look yourself what exactly happened in these two rallies.
04:42It's not your place to decide, let everyone come.
04:49Today, a major shock occurred during the Puri parliamentary seat when the announced Congress
05:02candidate Sucharita Mohanty refused to contest the election and withdraw her ticket.
05:08Not only did she withdraw the ticket, but she also accused the Congress party of not
05:13providing enough funds for the election campaign and fielding of weak candidates too for the
05:18entire Lok Sabha constituency.
05:20In such a scenario, the Congress, which was already struggling to assert its existence
05:25in the state and even in the centre, is now facing one more greater difficulty.
05:31With the removal of the Congress candidate from the field, not only Sambit Patra but
05:35also the BJP candidate can benefit because the votes might get split.
05:39Now it is a direct fight between BJP and BJP.
05:43The BJP candidate has emerged victorious last time, but this time things may change due
05:47to Sucharita Mohanty.
05:50Sucharita Mohanty had contested the Puri parliamentary constituency in 2014 too.
05:56She was second in 2014 and received approximately 2,60,000 votes.
06:00Now with her withdrawal, there is a possibility of a shift in these votes towards Sambit Patra
06:05and the BJP candidate there.
06:07Sucharita Mohanty also stressed that it is almost impossible to conduct an election campaign
06:12without any sort of party fund.
06:15In this context, she also sent a mail to the Congress president Sonia Gandhi, former president
06:21Rahul Gandhi and party's general secretary KC Vinogopal too.
06:25She said that a party instructed her to contest elections on her own funds.
06:30She started the campaign according to her capabilities and tried to arrange funds, however,
06:34it was not enough to do that.
06:37Take a look yourself what she stated.
06:40So I thought of, I started one donation drive in my social media and I knocked all doors
06:48if anybody could get some funds to sustain my campaign, but it didn't happen that way.
06:54It's not easy because the time is very limited and then on top of it, I am contesting, two
07:01of my opponents are real moneybags.
07:06So since I am contesting against them, I didn't want to compete with them with their vulgar
07:13display of money and power and all kinds of things which is not required.
07:18I wanted to have a simple campaign of my own, people-oriented, people-centric campaign.
07:25But even for that, you need basic funds.
07:28You just can't do your campaign just like that, no?
07:31Even I have to reach out to my voters.
07:35For that also, going there also, I need, I can't walk down and cover seven constituencies
07:40in Padyatra.
07:41There is no time for that.
07:43I have to, then for nomination, for other things, technical reasons also, you need everything,
07:50social media, all kinds of things, you need money, basic money to contest, which I thought
07:58I won't be able to manage, party is not giving me and I am unable to manage on my own.
08:04So I thought this is the best decision.
08:07Alright now it looks like the fight between Telangana Congress and BJP is intensifying.
08:13As Delhi Police filed an FIR regarding Home Minister's doctor video, now Telangana Police
08:18appears to have lodged an FIR against Madhvi Lata and Union Home Minister Amit Shah too.
08:24The Hyderabad Police have registered a case against Home Minister Amit Shah, Hyderabad
08:29Lok Sabha poll candidate Madhvi Lata and other BJP leaders for violating the Model Code of
08:35Conduct.
08:36The case was taken following the complaint of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, TPPCC
08:42Vice President Niranjan Reddy.
08:45According to the police, the case has been registered for using children in election
08:49campaign.
08:50The other accused the party leaders including T. Yaman Singh, senior BJP leader G. Kishan
08:55Reddy and legislator T. Raja Singh also in this FIR.
08:58In a complaint to the Telangana Chief Election Officer, Niranjan Reddy alleged that on 1st
09:04of May during a BJP rally in Laldwaza to Sudha Talkies, a few minor children were on the
09:09dais with Amit Shah and so the FIR has been filed.
09:13However, no action has been taken yet.
09:17Meanwhile when we talk of Amit Shah's doctored video case, a Congress supporter account on
09:22Twitter Spirit of Congress has been arrested regarding the sharing of this video.
09:27And so the case still goes on to find out that who was actually behind this whole fiasco
09:33where a doctored video of Amit Shah went viral in which he was seen claiming that reservation
09:38will be abolished.
09:40And so here we are at the end of this poor wrap of the day.
09:43We hope you enjoyed the wrap.
09:45The third phase of the voting is scheduled for 7th of May and so we hope that you will
09:49go out and vote in large.
09:51Until then stay tuned at One India English for all the election coverage and geopolitical
09:56news like never before.
