00:03 What's up?
00:10 It's Paul from Guitar World.
00:11 And today, I'd like to say that it would make no sense for me
00:14 to say something like, the wait is over on what I have over
00:18 here, because many of us didn't see this coming.
00:21 That's right.
00:22 Your eyes do not deceive you.
00:24 PRS Guitars made some pedals.
00:26 Let's take a quick look at them.
00:28 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:31 Yes, you heard that correctly.
00:35 PRS, or Paul Reed Smith, maker of many
00:37 of the finest electric guitars and acoustics,
00:39 and even amplifiers, have now thrown their hat
00:41 in the stompbox ring and released three new guitar
00:44 pedals--
00:45 the Horsemeat Transparent Overdrive,
00:47 the Wind Through the Trees Dual Analog Flanger,
00:50 and the Merry Cries Optical Compressor.
00:54 All of these PRS pedals feature through-hole soldering,
00:56 which broadens the component selection
00:58 and allows for the best sounding part to be used.
01:01 And they are also true bypass.
01:03 [MUSIC PLAYING]
01:06 According to PRS, the Horsemeat Transparent Overdrive
01:24 is a built-from-scratch circuit designed
01:26 to enhance guitar tone without coloring it.
01:28 The pedal uses Germanian diodes for a smoother and fuller
01:32 overdriven crunch that closely approaches immediate distortion
01:36 as you increase the gain control.
01:38 You can see the controls for the treble and bass
01:40 to boost both the high and low end frequencies,
01:43 while the voice control offers more
01:45 tailoring of the harmonic content for added richness
01:48 to your tone.
01:49 Depending on the setting, of course,
01:50 the Horsemeat can be used as a clean boost, straight overdrive,
01:54 or push the front end of the amp's preamp section
01:56 to enhance the amplifier's distortion.

02:39 PRS likes to say that the Wind Through the Trees Dual Analog
02:42 Flanger pedal is best described as two flangers fighting
02:45 each other, or what I'd like to say,
02:47 two flangers mixed into one another,
02:50 resulting in a sound reminiscent of the wind whipping
02:53 through the trees, hence its colorful name.

03:10 The pedal features manual depth and rate controls
03:12 per flanger, as well as global regeneration and added highs
03:15 controls.
03:16 There's endless flanging to be had with the Wind
03:18 Through the Trees.
03:19 [MUSIC PLAYING]
03:23 Based on the classic LA-2A rack mount, a hand-wired and tube
03:26 based compressor, the Mary Cry's Optical Compressor pedal
03:30 aims to thicken your guitar tone, curb signal peaks,
03:34 increase sustain, and push your tone
03:35 with definition and clarity.

03:50 This pedal can also be used as a boost,
03:51 as well as a straightforward compressor, or even better,
03:55 use it as a clean boost with a hint of compression.
03:58 What's nice is the pedal's blue compression light
04:00 shows you when the compression is actively kicking in.

04:09 PRS should have used the slogan, "Expect the Unexpected,"
04:12 for their brand new pedal launch.
04:14 With the Horsemeat as a wonderful textured overdrive,
04:17 Mary Cry's as a simplified studio quality optical
04:20 compressor, and the dual vintage flanging from their Wind
04:23 Through the Trees analog flanger,
04:25 PRS has come out of the gate swinging with three high end
04:28 stomp boxes built to last a lifetime with classic sounds
04:32 most guitarists will want to investigate further.
04:35 Definitely check them out.
