00:00 At the moment the focus of rain is really on New South Wales but that could push into
00:05 the far south of Queensland as well and that's where we're looking through the course of
00:09 the entire weekend.
00:10 So for now, along the east coast of New South Wales it's just a little bit of showery weather
00:15 with the heavier falls at the moment over inland areas.
00:19 Spots like Cobar and Hilston out in the west have had over 50mm of rain yesterday and overnight
00:25 but that area of heavy rain currently over those inland places is moving eastwards, that
00:29 means it is moving towards that much more densely populated coastal part of the state.
00:34 What about the potential for flooding?
00:37 Yeah look we are looking at a flooding risk, particularly on Sunday for some coastal parts
00:42 of New South Wales.
00:43 We could see anywhere from 50-100mm of rain in parts of the coast around the likes of
00:49 the Illawarra district, the Sydney area, particularly those eastern suburbs of Sydney and even the
00:53 Hunter Coast and maybe the Mid North Coast as well.
00:56 But it is really important to say that the rainfall we're anticipating over the course
01:00 of this weekend is not nearly as heavy as the rain we got in that exact same area around
01:05 about a month ago, early in April, which did lead to significant and widespread flooding
01:09 so we shouldn't see the same flood response this time around.
01:13 That said, isolated areas of flooding are definitely on the cards for the next couple
01:17 of days, water over roads, blocked drains, big traffic, maybe some localised areas of
01:22 inundation as well.
01:23 So it's definitely something we'll be watching closely and it is a risk for Sunday in particular.
01:27 What about beyond the weekend?
01:29 How's next week look?
01:30 Yeah so the worst of the rainfall coming on Sunday, maybe very early into Monday morning
01:36 for parts of the New South Wales coast as well.
01:38 But on Monday we will see that all clear up from the south.
01:41 So if you're in the south of the state, early on Monday should be gone.
01:44 If you're further north up towards Sydney, maybe Hunter, maybe the Mid North Coast, that
01:48 rain could last a little bit longer on Monday.
01:50 But by the end of Monday, the worst of the rain is gone.
01:53 After that, I wish I could say we were going into fine and dry weather, but we're not really.
01:57 We're hanging on to another week of off again, on again, spotty showers, much like we've
02:01 had over the past five or six days.
