00:00 I killed a man, but not, I'm afraid, as brilliantly as you did,
00:04 with somebody called Rod Hull.
00:05 -Remember Rod Hull and Emu? -Oh, the Emu man.
00:08 The Emu man.
00:09 We were at the theatre. We were the first night of Animal Crackers.
00:13 It was a show about the Marx Brothers.
00:15 Terrible weather. Terrible, terrible weather that night.
00:17 Was this right by Dick Vosburgh?
00:19 -It could have been. Yes, I think it was. -Yeah.
00:22 It was a few years ago. Anyway, we don't know the time is that Rod Hull died.
00:26 And he was sitting next to me and he was complaining all through the show.
00:29 He was interrupting the show and was going on about how he couldn't get...
00:32 He wanted to get home because he wanted to watch the football.
00:34 But his aerial, his sky aerial on his thing wasn't transmitting properly.
00:40 And I said, "Don't moan about it. If you want to watch the television, get a ladder out.
00:44 Get a lime on to the roof and fix it, Rod."
00:47 And after the show, in this stormy weather, he went home, he got out a ladder,
00:50 he climbed the ladder and he tried to fix the aerial.
00:53 -Unfortunately, the wind was very great. -Oh, no!
00:55 He fell backwards off the ladder and killed himself.
00:58 -Oh, my God. -So I wasn't actually there, but I'd encouraged him.
