00:00 Hi my name is Jamie and I'm the manager here at number 73 Bar and Kitchen Waterlooville
00:04 and this is a independent unique family-owned restaurant, wine bar, cocktail
00:11 bar, coffee shop. So tell us a little bit about the history you already mentioned
00:15 that it used to be another pub before? So it was originally called the Wellington
00:19 and that's a pub for many many many years and that closed down in about 2016
00:24 and the current owner decided to purchase that building and transform it
00:31 into what it is today a restaurant and wine bar. So what makes it different from
00:36 other bars and restaurants? Well it's unique as it is a one-off and it's
00:42 family-owned and we do strive to have the best in customer care and high
00:49 standards of service. I've got many years experience in looking after customers to
00:53 a high quality. The food is all freshly prepared and it's an independent
00:58 unique menu and we specialize in tapas, main courses, we're very busy for
01:05 breakfast, we can just be a coffee shop so it sort of covers all areas really.
01:09 And how would you describe the culture of this place? I'd say I mean it's
01:15 not quite French, not quite Italian. No I would say sort of a slight
01:20 Mediterranean touch really but as I say it's a cocktail bar, it's a wine bar,
01:26 it's a restaurant, it's a bit of everything really and we are quite busy
01:31 most of the time which is brilliant. Excellent and so what would you say, you
01:37 already mentioned tapas, but what would you say are the other positive issues
01:40 that people go for? We have an excellent chef and a brilliant team in the kitchen
01:46 and the front of house and he does pride himself on fresh local produce wherever
01:51 possible. It's a varied menu specializing in some tapas dishes, homemade pizzas, we
01:57 also do a few off-piste dishes as well so just to keep it a little bit more
02:03 individual but we also do things like burgers which are very popular here.
02:08 And do you have any events or menu changes coming up? So the menu
02:15 changes about every three or four months and in fact it's due to change again in
02:19 a couple of weeks so middle of May. We'll keep some of the staple dishes on which
02:24 are always very popular but also sort of just change very slightly some of the
02:28 other dishes and we always have very busy weekends. Thursday nights is always
02:34 a live music night and that can be brilliant with a great following of
02:38 local customers and then generally Friday, Saturdays and Sundays are
02:42 extremely busy so we're very very lucky. Excellent.
02:46 And actually that actually covers all the questions. Anything that you'd like to add to it?
02:54 No I mean I took over in May 2021 as soon as lockdown was over and we were
03:00 able to reopen so when I took over it was it hadn't been open very long and
03:06 then it was closed due to Covid so it had a bit of a tricky start really
03:10 because it just couldn't really quite get off the ground before it was closed.
03:14 I've got experience for over 30 years working in a local high-quality hotel so
03:20 I've brought a lot of those standards here with the staff training and just the
03:25 way we look after people. We do go out of our way to look after people as much as
03:29 we can and as best as we can.
