00:00 Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03 A £10,000 reward has been offered for information that leads to a conviction after a peregrine falcon was shot in the Peak District.
00:10 The adult female peregrine was found on Dovestone Nature Reserve, north of Woodhead Reservoir near Crowden in the Peak District National Park.
00:18 The bird was taken to a local veterinary practice where they confirmed it had been shot and, due to the extent of his injuries, sadly had to be euthanised.
00:26 The incident has immediately been reported to Derbyshire Police.
00:30 X-rays show shotgun pellets lodged in the elbow and shoulder of the bird's left wing.
00:34 A post-mortem also revealed a puncture wound to the bird's chest caused by shotgun pellets and concluded that the bird was shot at or near the location it was found, as the injuries it sustained would have prevented it from flying.
00:46 Now, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has offered a £5,000 reward for information which leads to a successful conviction for this wildlife crime.
00:56 This amount has been matched by the Peak District National Park Authority, taking the reward in total to £10,000.
01:01 Anyone who has any information about the incident is asked to contact Derbyshire Police on 101 and quote crime reference 24000198336.
01:13 Alternatively, you can call the RSPB anonymously on their dedicated Raptor Crime hotline on 0330 999 0101.
01:26 A former Derbyshire Cinema and Bingo Hall will be converted into a gym after lying derelict for six years.
01:33 Ayr Osh Borough Council officials have approved the conversion of the Grade 2 listed former Ritz and Bingo Hall on the corner of South Street and Coronation Street in Ilkeston.
01:43 The plans, put forward by Parliament House Ltd, say the conversion into a gym would help secure the long-term future of the building and inject life and commerce into the immediate area through a much-welcomed increase in local footfall.
01:55 In its application, the developer said that a gym and fitness centre operator has already expressed interest in the building following a marketing exercise and wants to move in as soon as possible.
