The Labour Party remains in majority control of the city council. Phil Tye, chair of Sunderland Labour Group, shares his thoughts on tonight's local election results.

00:00 So all the results in, it's been a really, really good night for us to be able to take seats from both the Liberals and the Conservatives and take five in total is really, really good.
00:10 We thank the residents of the city for that. A significant amount of work that we're doing in the city, residents can now see.
00:16 The difference in the numbers in some of the wards where we're really, really chasing after those as well, their majority, the Conservative majority, is right down.
00:25 And to be fair, I think it's a ringing endorsement for the Labour Party that the country's ready for change and it's about time the Conservatives move aside and let's have an election and let's start putting this country back together.
