As the clock strikes 12 noon on Saturday, bread will be thrown from the spire of All Saints Church in Wath Upon Dearne as a nod to the will of the late Thomas Tuke, a clergyman, who bequeathed money for bread to be donated on St Thomas Day each year.

00:00 What people bequeath in their will is subject to a lot of discussion from family members,
00:05 causing a lot of emotions and sometimes issues.
00:08 But this man from Yorkshire, back in the Victorian days,
00:13 actually left a very funny tongue-in-cheek will.
00:16 Yes, I'm talking about Thomas Turk, the famous clergyman Thomas Turk,
00:22 who hails from Wath-upon-Durn, near Rotherham.
00:26 Yes, Wath is known as the Queen of Villages and Thomas bequeathed
00:31 money so that bread could be thrown to those in need.
00:35 But also a lot of his will involves tongue-in-cheek references.
00:40 But now his history lives on during the Wath Festival, who reignited his will.
00:48 Rather than throwing the bread on St Thomas's Day, as he had bequeathed in his will,
00:53 they've actually made it happen during the Wath Festival this Maybank holiday weekend.
00:59 So at 12 noon, Thomas's will will be read out in the streets of Wath
01:05 and then there'll be a procession up to the church's spire, that's the All Saints Parish Church.
01:10 People will go to the spire and they'll throw out bread rolls into the crowds of hundreds of people.
01:17 The bread rolls are donated by local stores and it's a really historic, memorable event year on year.
