00:52Boomstick Battle by Magic Art and Aura Voice, narrated by Aura Voice.
01:01Sarah Hampton had been camping in the remote wilderness of West Virginia for several weeks,
01:06seeking solace and refuge from the turmoil that had haunted her life.
01:11Amidst the rugged West Virginia wilderness, she embarked on a transformative journey towards
01:17inner peace.
01:19Her connection to this land was unique.
01:21Fifty acres of it had been willed to her by Lisa, her favorite aunt, who had been the
01:27black sheep of the family on Sarah's mother's side.
01:30She remembered her mom's continual criticism of her sister's life.
01:35Your Aunt Lisa had no filter.
01:38She can out-cuss the devil and out-drink any man alive.
01:42I think she's a wild child because she let our parents brawl and get the better of her
01:46in life.
01:47While everyone snagged good-paying government jobs, she failed to launch and did nothing
01:52about her future.
01:54That's why she ended up as a weirdo, living alone out in the sticks.
01:59Crazy life choices will do that to you.
02:02Life choices can lead you down unexpected paths, Sarah thought.
02:07But her Aunt Lisa was different.
02:10Lisa was a warm-hearted person, incredibly skilled in making jewelry.
02:15Her beautiful creations graced fine art galleries and upscale jewelry stores.
02:21Lisa held a special place in Sarah's heart.
02:25Despite Lisa's quirky ways, Sarah cherished memories of visiting her secluded mobile home
02:30during her lonely childhood.
02:34Lisa showered her with unconditional love and kindness.
02:38They'd sip fresh lemonade, bake oatmeal cookies from scratch, and even play Texas Hold'em
02:44poker.
02:46Sarah also remembered Lisa's funky retro t-shirts and quirky online purchases, like those whimsical
02:54mercury-filled glass flamingo barometers with yellow top hats that rocked.
02:59Lisa allowed Sarah to explore the immediate area around her well-maintained vegetable
03:04gardens, but she firmly cautioned her not to venture deeper into the woods and to return
03:10indoors before dusk.
03:13Sarah always felt secure during her stays with her Aunt, so she hadn't taken Lisa's
03:17warnings too seriously, although she consistently followed them.
03:23When Lisa fell ill, Sarah was serving overseas, embroiled in a war she had never believed
03:30in, enduring mistreatment from her male comrades.
03:34The news of her Aunt's cancer diagnosis hit her hard.
03:38Soon after, a second message arrived from her mother, bluntly informing her that Aunt
03:43Lisa had passed away and left an essential letter for Sarah.
03:49The letter reached her the following week.
03:51Dear Sarah, I hope this letter finds you well.
03:56I've decided to give you my 50-acre plot of land, but there's something important you
04:01need to know.
04:03For many years, a strange group of mountain people lived on that land.
04:08They'd sneak in and steal my vegetables shortly after I bought the property.
04:13I scared them off once by showing them my shotgun, and thankfully, they never returned.
04:20I always worried about your safety when you visited me.
04:24I kept an eye on you as you explored the yard, ready to protect you if needed.
04:29Charlie Phillips, our local sheriff, and I periodically patrolled the property, but
04:35we never found any evidence of their continued presence.
04:39I hope they've moved elsewhere, far away from there.
04:43Sarah, I'm giving you this land because I know you can handle whatever comes your way.
04:50Please, find a way to come home from my funeral.
04:53Your mom will help settle my affairs with our attorney.
04:57Take care and stay safe.
05:00Love you always, Aunt Lisa.
05:04Now, as a world-traveled 30-year-old, Sarah noticed that the property's landscape had
05:10dramatically changed for the worse.
05:13Thick patches of weeds and ivy overtook the old yard.
05:17Aunt Lisa's mobile home had been removed from the property 20 years ago, and she had moved
05:22into Charlie Phillips' house in town.
05:25This left Sarah with the task of creating her own shelter, and it was a challenge she
05:30readily embraced.
05:33Anything to get her mind off herself.
05:36Sarah was a solitary, troubled soul, detached from her immediate family.
05:41The scars of her past in the military ran deep, manifesting as nightmares and flashbacks
05:48that haunted her every waking moment.
05:52She relished the opportunity to lose herself in the wilderness for months as a form of
05:57distraction.
05:59Despite her inner struggles, she excelled as a marksman.
06:04Her firearms served both as tools for self-defense and symbols of her resilience.
06:10Among her steadfast companions were an AR-10-308 rifle, a Mossberg pump-action shotgun, a Glock
06:1919, and a Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 10mm handgun, each loaded with the assurance of protection.
06:29Her SUV, a Mobile Fortress, held provisions to last for months.
06:36But it was Max, her loyal and highly trained German shepherd, who stood unwaveringly by
06:42her side as companion and protector.
06:46Martha's warnings about the surrounding landscape definitely gave Sarah pause.
06:52She would now be on the lookout for evidence of anyone squatting on her land.
06:57At first, the cool autumn weather provided a welcome change from the sweltering summer
07:03heat.
07:04But as the days passed, a biting, icy cold began to settle in.
07:10Frost painted the leaves with delicate crystals, and her breath hung in the air like ghostly
07:16whispers.
07:19During these initial months in the wilderness, Sarah embraced the simplicity of life.
07:25Using a handmade fishing rod, she skillfully caught her meals from several of the clear
07:30streams that flowed through her expansive property.
07:34Sarah would pitch tennis balls into the chilly streams, and Max joyfully chased after them
07:39as they soared over his head.
07:42Sometimes, in the seclusion of the woods, she shed her clothes and dipped into the frigid
07:48waters herself for a liberating skinny dip, as if the cold could wash away her inner scars.
07:56It numbed her both physically and emotionally, and she savored the sensation of truly being
08:03free.
08:05In the evenings, she gathered firewood and kindled huge, warm fires that danced like
08:10ancient spirits in the night.
08:13With her well-honed survival skills, she cooked hearty meals of fresh fish and root vegetables
08:19over searing flames, savoring the taste of simplicity and self-sufficiency.
08:26She was lucky to have an abundance of dry, shallow caves on the land, and she always
08:31used them as base camps for the added protection of having her sick secured.
08:37The area where Sarah camped had a storied past, a place where ancient tribes once roamed,
08:44leaving behind traces of their existence in the form of mysterious petroglyphs and stone
08:49circles.
08:51Sarah oftentimes sensed an eerie, unseen presence all around her.
08:57The woods were old, whispering tales of forgotten civilizations and untamed landscapes.
09:05Sarah was increasingly amazed by the unending beauty and remoteness of this deep, dark,
09:11primeval forest.
09:13As she ventured further in, the tranquility of the late autumn woods belied the turmoil
09:19within her.
09:21And as Sarah delved deeper into her quiet haven, an eerie feeling of being watched intensified.
09:29Max would often stop and occasionally stare and growl at large, dense thickets of thorny
09:35brush along the property's vast hiking trails.
09:39Sarah imagined that he was sensing the presence of some small, woodland creatures, and thought
09:44no more of it.
09:47That was, until she was walking along a southern path that led back to her present camp.
09:53As her loyal companion Max padded ahead, he abruptly halted, his snarls echoing through
09:59the dense foliage.
10:02Sarah's gaze followed his intense focus, and there, amidst the overgrown bushes about
10:07a hundred yards ahead and to the right, lay a human femur bone.
10:13Its presence was unsettling, recently placed, its muscle tissues and cartilage still visible
10:20in the dirt.
10:22Her eyes shot up, and she drew her glock.
10:25She stood scanning the area that captured Max's vigilant attention, and all points
10:30surrounding them.
10:32She listened intently.
10:34It was dusk, and she had difficulty seeing anything in the tall, overgrown bushes.
10:40Then, Sarah caught a smell that reminded her of one of the many nightmares she had endured
10:46as a soldier.
10:48It was the smell of burning human flesh.
10:52She instantly called Max to her side, and they fell back the way they came at a brisk
10:57jog.
10:58Sarah glanced backward, a glimpse that chilled her to the bone.
11:04Just adjacent to where Max had been barking, she saw two colossal men in dirty, tattered
11:10overalls standing in the middle of the trail.
11:14Their wild eyes and disheveled appearance sent shivers down her spine.
11:19They made no move to pursue her, apparently content to simply stand there and gawk at
11:25her retreating figure.
11:28The presence of these dangerous weirdos on her property heightened her vigilance.
11:33When Sarah and Max returned to camp via a circuitous route, she quickly began packing
11:38up her vehicle.
11:40She would be headed to town by first light to report the squatters to Sheriff Phillips,
11:45and the likelihood of cannibalism taking place near the Appalachian Trail.
11:49It was getting late, and it was never a good idea to travel out of a heavily wooded area
11:55in complete darkness.
11:58As night encroached, it rapidly grew darker and colder.
12:03An unsettling presence permeated the forest.
12:07The woods, once a place of contentment, began to whisper secrets of danger.
12:15Her military instincts awakened, alerting her to the impending threat.
12:20She and Max waited inside the cave's entrance, watching for movement within the forest.
12:27Sarah sat on a boulder and rested her rifle, equipped with a nightscope, on her right thigh.
12:33The moon cast elongated shadows across the forest floor.
12:38Sarah's breaths came in measured bursts, her pulse echoing the urgency of the situation.
12:44Max, ever loyal, pressed against her leg, his fur bristling.
12:50They were a team, a battle-hardened duo forged by adversity and survival.
12:56As the minutes stretched into hours, Sarah's mind raced.
13:02The clan would come, she knew it.
13:05Their hunger drove them, their twisted lineage compelling them to seek prey.
13:11She had seen their faces, their sunken eyes, their elongated limbs.
13:17They were the remnants of a cursed bloodline, a grotesque tapestry woven from generations
13:23of isolation and inbreeding.
13:27Three minutes past midnight, Sarah's fingers traced the cold metal of her rifle.
13:33She had set booby traps around the perimeter of her camp, ingenious, deadly snares that
13:38would swiftly end the unwary.
13:41The first was a series of strategically placed shotgun shell landmines that were activated
13:47by the enemy's body weight, hidden beneath a layer of leaves.
13:52The second was a pitfall, a deep hole camouflaged with branches and moss.
13:59Sharp stakes awaited anyone who stumbled into its depths.
14:04Max's ears twitched, and Sarah tensed.
14:07The forest held its breath.
14:10Then a rustle, a shadow moving through the underbrush.
14:15Her night scope revealed a hunched figure, its eyes glinting like a feral animal.
14:21The first of the clan.
14:25Sarah's finger tightened on the trigger.
14:27She had faced worse in war-torn lands, but this was her battle now.
14:33She whispered to Max, and he crouched beside her, ready to spring.
14:38The figure stepped directly into the pitfall, and the forest erupted in chaos.
14:45His scream echoed as he impaled himself on the stakes.
14:49Sarah's heart raced.
14:51One down.
14:53Soon, dozens of cannibals stepped onto the shotgun shells.
14:57Metal against bone, detonations like thunder.
15:02Their wild eyes widened as limbs were torn apart, flesh shredded.
15:07The forest floor absorbed an endless fountain of gushing blood.
15:12Some were blown backward, their twisting bodies disintegrating.
15:17Others writhed, mangled and screaming, their hunger extinguished by the merciless traps.
15:24But they kept coming.
15:27Sarah fired, and another threat was extinguished, a woman this time.
15:32The clan's guttural, angry cries filled the night, their hunger undiminished.
15:38Sarah reloaded, her hands steady.
15:41Her eyes darted forward, teeth bared, and dragged another adversary into the pitfall.
15:48The forest floor became a graveyard.
15:51Sarah's traps worked, the clan's desperation blinding them to the dangers.
15:57But there were more, always more.
16:00Their twisted forms stumbled over fallen logs, their eyes wide with rage.
16:06She fired until her ears rang, until her vision blurred with exhaustion.
16:12And then, there was an eerie silence.
16:16Sarah knew this, that's all folks ploy.
16:19Oh no, this boomstick battle wasn't over, not by a long shot.
16:25It was just getting started.
16:28She and Max were in for a very long night.
16:33Around 3am, terror materialized yet again, in the form of a tribe of approximately twenty
16:40feral mountain people, shambling from the treeline.
16:44Grotesque and nightmarish, they calmly filed out from the edges of the woods into a moonlit
16:50clearing.
16:52They were approximately forty yards from Sarah's cave entrance, and their misshapen, inbred
16:57forms bobbed and lurched to face her.
17:00They showed no hesitation, as they made a slow beeline towards her, arms outstretched.
17:08Their guttural groans of hunger and menace echoed through the trees and turned her stomach.
17:15Sarah's determination remained unshaken however, and Max awaited her silent command.
17:22She wouldn't use his services until a few got uncomfortably close.
17:26She yelled at them to halt, but her voice only seemed to spur them on in her direction.
17:32A final battle followed that was a cacophony of chaos and precision.
17:37Sarah's markmanship was her salvation, each shot an expression of her anger and her will
17:43to survive.
17:45Her heart pounded in rhythm with the guttural groans of the approaching horde.
17:50Their grotesque forms defied natural order.
17:53Their eyes, wild and hungry, locked onto her like vultures spotting prey.
17:59She clutched the cold metal of her rifle, fingers trembling, but resolute.
18:06Max stood at her side, ears alert and hackles raised.
18:11His eyes mirrored her determination.
18:14They had faced danger together before.
18:16Wolves, blizzards, and treacherous cliffs.
18:20But this was different.
18:22These were not mere predators.
18:24They were the embodiment of her deepest fears.
18:28The ones she had tried to forget.
18:31Fear of being eaten alive by literal monsters.
18:34Steady, Max, Sarah cautioned.
18:38Her voice carried across the clearing, a desperate plea for sanity.
18:43But the mountain people paid no heed.
18:46Their misshapen limbs propelled them forward, arms reaching out, nails like talons.
18:53Their hunger was primal, their menace palpable.
18:58Sarah's finger tightened on the trigger.
19:00She had trained for this moment, honing her markmanship in the midst of previous battles.
19:07Shots rang out.
19:08An enormous hillbilly fell, a grotesque silhouette crumpling to the forest floor.
19:14There were more.
19:16Their numbers seemed endless, like shadows converging on her.
19:21Max, she commanded, and he lunged.
19:24His teeth sank into the throat of the nearest intruder, a guttural cry escaping the creature.
19:31Sarah fired again, and another fell.
19:34The mob was getting too close, so she grabbed her Mossberg shotgun, and the lead started
19:39to fly.
19:41Energy parts instantly reduced to a bloody mist.
19:45The symphony of chaos intensified, the clash of damaged bodies to get to Sarah, the desperate
19:52cries, and the metallic tang of blood.
19:56Her legs trembled as she backed towards the cave entrance.
20:00Max fought alongside her, a blur of fur and teeth.
20:05She glimpsed the moon through the trees, a pale witness to their struggle.
20:09The hillbillies closed in, their misshapen faces twisted in pain and rage.
20:17Then silence.
20:19The last shot echoed, and the clearing lay still.
20:25Sarah's chest heaved, her vision blurred.
20:29Max limped towards her, bloodied but alive.
20:34She collapsed beside him, tears mixing with dirt and sweat.
20:39They were battered, but unbroken.
20:43The mangled tribe lay defeated, their threat extinguished by her unwavering resolve.
20:50Sarah glanced at Max, his eyes reflecting the same fierce determination.
20:55They had survived the night, but the primal screams of these savages still rang in her
21:02ears.
21:03The cursed clan might be gone, but their legacy haunted the mountains.
21:10As dawn painted the sky, Sarah vowed to remove all traces of these wild people from her property,
21:18her silent partner by her side.
21:21They had probably been hunting hikers on the Appalachian Trail for years, hence the legendary
21:26missing person cases.
21:29The moon retreated, leaving only the memory of feral eyes and hunger.
21:36She would remember this night, their fight for survival, and carry it with her, etched
21:42into her very bones.
21:45For in the heart of darkness, she had found her strength and her purpose, and Max had
21:53become more than a loyal companion.
21:56He was her salvation, her tether to sanity in a world where nightmares materialized at
22:033AM.
