Liberal Democrat MP for Richmond Park Sarah Olney says she is backing Rob Blackie for mayor of London as "fixing the Met" is one thing Londoners are concerned about.

Ms Olney added the prospect of a Lib Dem mayor would be "amazing" as the party stands for "inclusivity and equality".

00:00Well, because he is far and away the best candidate, Rob has stood on a platform consistently
00:05and he's been very, very clear that his key policy aim is to fix the Met and he's talking
00:11about his own experiences of having been a victim of violent assault, his own reflections
00:16on that, his own work in sort of looking at some of the ways that the Met operates and
00:20how that can be improved. And I think if there's one thing that Londoners are, you know, really
00:25concerned about, we have a range of concerns, housing, transport, our green spaces, but
00:30I think if there's one thing that Londoners have become really concerned about, it's the
00:34Met. And I know from my own experience as a local MP how hard some of our police officers
00:39are working to keep their communities safe, how dedicated they are to the job, but there's
00:43no doubt that some of the structures and the processes that underpin that could really
00:47do with reform. And I think, you know, that's what Rob is talking about. He's got, you know,
00:52real plans, real commitment to that and I think that's what Londoners want most of all.
00:57I think it would be amazing. I think, you know, Liberal Democrats above all stand for
01:01inclusivity and equality. And I think, you know, a city as diverse as London, that's
01:07got to be at the heart of what makes our city tick. Everybody here is as valuable as everybody
01:12else and everybody should have the same opportunities. To have somebody in City Hall who is absolutely
01:16committed to delivering that for Londoners I think would just make a huge difference.
