00:00The UK COVID-19 Public Inquiry is coming to Northern Ireland with three weeks of hearings
00:07getting underway in Belfast. I'm Ben Connor, Secretary to the COVID-19 Inquiry, and I'm
00:13here in Dunagady on the beautiful harbourside where during the pandemic local people placed
00:18painted stones to say thank you to the people that were keeping them safe from COVID. Some
00:22of those stones have been placed on this beautiful bench, which is a lovely and lasting memorial
00:28of the way that communities pulled together in solidarity during the pandemic right across
00:33Northern Ireland. We promised that we would take the inquiry on tour, and Belfast is the
00:39final stop after we've been in Wales and Scotland this spring. COVID affected all of us, from
00:45Bangor to Beli. And it's really important that we hear what happened from the people
00:50who were making the decisions, but also the people who were impacted by the pandemic.
00:55In the hearings, we'll be hearing from senior scientists, advisors and politicians. We're
01:00starting three weeks of hearings in Belfast. I'm really looking forward to getting started.
01:05Thanks for having us, Northern Ireland.
