00:00 That's life, though, isn't it? I think the thing that I've been reminded of,
00:03 and I saw that brilliant article that you did in The Weeknd...
00:05 Oh, yeah. ..was the quote that was that Good Morning Britain
00:09 was going to be axed by Christmas. Cancelled by Christmas?
00:11 Have you...? You haven't, by any chance, got the front...
00:14 Find that. ..the page three.
00:17 Rub it in. OK.
00:18 So, this is framed in my dressing room.
00:22 "Good Morning Britain faces axe after a month."
00:25 You probably can see we have sense of the other photograph
00:28 on page three of The Sun from ten years ago,
00:31 because, for younger viewers, yes, page three of The Sun
00:36 used to have a topless model on it. Yeah.
00:39 But the reason that this, from ten years ago,
00:41 is framed in my dressing room is because only one of those two things
00:45 got cancelled and it wasn't Good Morning Britain.
00:48 It was not. Page three of The Sun no longer has a topless model on it.
00:52 The interesting thing about this is I remember this happening
00:54 and thinking, "Yes, we've made it, we're on page three!"
00:56 LAUGHTER
00:58 Well, we've got two stories about that.
01:00 That happened to us when Judy and I launched in 1988,
01:02 we launched this programme.
01:04 I mean, they didn't want it to work, you know?
01:06 Cos it makes a better story if a programme crashes and burns.
01:09 So, I'd say every two or three weeks we'd see a headline like that.
01:12 "Mr and Mrs Married", they'd call us.
01:14 "Mr and Mrs Married, cheesy couple to get chopped by Christmas."
01:17 And, you know, "Here you are."
01:18 How many years later? 35, 38 years later? Yeah.
01:21 And the other thing about getting negative publicity,
01:23 which is actually quite fun,
01:24 we road-tested Viagra live on the programme.
01:26 Yes, you did! We got three couples,
01:28 all three blokes had slight erectile issues,
01:31 and they all took a Viagra,
01:33 and we sent them off to a hotel around the corner,
01:35 and they came back two hours later... To report back? To report!
01:38 We asked what had come up, basically, and they told us.
01:41 On the Daily Mail, the next page of the Daily Mail,
01:43 the next day it was, "Was this the tawdriest two hours
01:46 "in British television history?"
01:47 We went, "Yes!"
01:49 The result... "You ain't seen nothing yet!"
01:51 Exactly.
01:52 I mean, there's a real pride for us, isn't there,
01:54 sitting here and hosting this show?
01:56 You gave me a really lovely note as well, Richard,
01:58 that you left for my dressing room. Oh, you got it. Good.
02:00 Which was really special, and I will keep that forever,
02:01 cos that was really amazing.
02:03 There's a real pride with that,
02:04 and for launching the show with you, Suzanne,
02:05 all those ten years ago.
02:07 But also where the show's come to,
02:08 and what the next ten years look like as well.
02:10 I wonder what you think about when you think where we were,
02:13 where we are, and where we're going to be.
02:15 Well, I don't think it's going to be cancelled by Christmas. No.
02:17 I think we're pretty well established now.
02:20 Yeah. Well, look, it's been a real treat to have you come in.
02:22 Thank you. It's a treat to be here.
02:24 Happy birthday. Thank you.
02:26 Thank you so much.
02:27 And congratulations on everything you're achieving.
02:29 Can I just say, as an ex-presenter here,
02:30 and, you know, there have been ups and downs on this programme
02:32 over the decades since we've had it,
02:34 I think you two are brilliant on it. Thank you.
02:36 And I'm not just saying that. I think it's a really good feel
02:38 to the show. It's really found its home.
02:39 We're enjoying it immensely. Lovely time.
02:41 And we've even come dressed on brand as well.
02:43 Look! This is what they've done.
02:45 We sat down over there and were like, "Oh, no, this is a disaster."
02:47 We've come as the logo and as the set.
02:49 We've come up in this morning teal.
02:51 You look very at home.
02:52 Gorgeous. Well done. Thank you.
02:54 Thank you for staying as well.
02:55 Yeah. Now I know what's the other side of the game.
02:59 I didn't...
