A large number of voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu want a Malay candidate, say Perikatan Nasional leaders over the coalition’s decision to field Hulu Selangor Bersatu acting division chief Khairul Azhari Saut.

Perikatan chairman and Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said it was the voters who asked for a Malay candidate to be given an opportunity.

00:00 We have no problem if the SPR (South East Asia Partnership)
00:06 accepts the challenge from the National Union.
00:10 With that, if SPR declares that there is no small country,
00:17 then from today, our efforts will start seriously.
00:23 For the preparations that we have done, led by Dato' Sri Azmin Ali,
00:30 all levels will start to carry out a heavy responsibility
00:38 to win the hearts of the voters here.
00:42 And my hope is to provide as much support as possible
00:49 to the candidates of the National Seder Harut.
00:53 You said that you are almost 100% confident that you can win this election.
01:00 For the PS, how confident and enthusiastic are you that you can win this election?
01:06 110%
01:08 I can say that, right?
01:11 It's okay. If he is confident, I am confident too.
01:14 The decision is not mine or his.
01:17 We are not the voters here.
01:19 The important thing is the people in Kuala Kumbu Bahru.
01:22 I have mentioned earlier that there are many issues.
01:25 If we compare the election of the state and the election of the general election,
01:29 it is getting worse.
01:32 So I don't know, it's okay.
01:34 Datuk Zahid said that 100% is based on the decision of the previous candidate.
01:40 That has passed.
01:42 This is a new election in a new situation.
01:44 That's why we make the right decision to nominate a Malay candidate.
01:50 This is not a question of the super-government.
01:52 I strongly urge and demand as a big party,
01:55 to give a chance to the Malay candidate.
01:57 How do we do that?
01:59 And if from the logic,
02:03 here there are 47% if I'm not mistaken,
02:09 30% of the Malay voters are from China,
02:13 18% are from India,
02:16 and 5% are from other countries, including the indigenous people.
02:19 Even if we are harsh,
02:22 if the Malay candidate is less than 80% or 90%,
02:26 we will win.
02:28 That's the usual formula.
02:30 So I don't want to make a decision too early.
02:32 But because of the opinion of the party, it's okay.
02:37 Let them think the way and we have our own strategy.
02:40 How to deal with the problem of the business.
02:43 Alhamdulillah, the candidate chosen by the National Union
02:47 is the result of the feedback we received from the residents
02:52 and voters in Kuala Tubuh Baru.
02:54 Traditionally, this is a mixed seat.
02:58 But I think with the sentiment and support of the people today,
03:05 we believe that this seat can be passed
03:10 with the support of the majority of the voters in Kuala Tubuh Baru.
03:13 Can the Malay candidate win?
03:16 He is not only representing the Malay voters,
03:20 the National Union candidate represents all Malaysians.
03:24 And the foundation of the National Union is an inclusive party
03:29 that will serve all Malaysians.
03:32 And there are some issues in Kuala Tubuh Baru.
03:35 As mentioned by the candidate,
03:37 he is eager to provide the best service.
03:41 And of course we want to increase the number of supporters
03:46 in the National Union.
03:48 Because we see that with strong supporters,
03:53 we can practice the principle of equality and balance
03:57 in the National Union.
03:58 And this will benefit the people of Selangor,
04:01 especially in Kuala Tubuh Baru.
04:03 Thank you.
