00:00 Sophia Bush is opening up about her sexuality and confirming her relationship with Ashlyn Harris.
00:05 The One Trio star self-authored a new Glamour cover story in which she wrote about coming out,
00:10 her divorce from Grant Hughes, and her personal fertility journey.
00:13 Bush said, "I finally feel like I can breathe." She added, "I've always known my sexuality exists
00:18 on a spectrum. Right now I think the word that best defines it is 'queer.'"
00:22 Bush married Hughes in 2022 after a decade of friendship. She shared in the article,
00:26 "But after the wedding I found myself in the depths and heartbreak of the fertility process,
00:31 which was the most clarifying experience of my life." Throughout her fertility struggles,
00:35 she realized, "The person I had chosen to be my partner didn't necessarily speak the same
00:39 emotional language I did." The actress filed for divorce in August 2023 and was subsequently
00:45 romantically linked to Harris. According to Bush, "The ones who said I'd left my ex because I
00:49 suddenly realized I wanted to be with women, my partners have known what I'm into for as long as
00:53 I have. So that's not it y'all. Sorry." Bush went on to reveal that she and Harris grew close in a
00:58 divorce support group. She wrote, "I didn't expect to find love in this support system.
01:02 I don't know how else to say it other than I didn't see it until I saw it. And I think it's
01:07 very easy not to see something that's been in front of your face for a long time when you'd
01:10 never looked at it as an option, and you had never been looked at as an option." Regarding the public
01:15 reveal of her queerness, she added, "I sort of hate the notion of having to come out in 2024,
01:20 but I'm deeply aware that we are having this conversation in a year when we're seeing the
01:23 most aggressive attacks on the LGBTQIA+ community in modern history." She continued, "I want to give
01:29 the act of coming out the respect and honor it deserves. I've experienced so much safety, respect,
01:35 and love in the queer community as an ally all of my life, that as I came into myself, I already
01:39 felt it was my home." For more on this story, head to THR.com. This is The Hollywood Reporter News.
