00:00 What ancient India is really about?
00:04 Ancient India is highlighted by Vedic wisdom.
00:14 You call yourself Sanatani, when you say you are an Indian.
00:22 India is the land of the Vedas and the part of Vedas that is relevant today and will remain
00:29 immortally relevant is the Upanishadic part, the wisdom part, not the Karmakant part.
00:40 That became obsolete long back and that's also the part that contains a lot of rituals
00:48 and practices and this and that and some people are still sticking to that.
00:52 Many people, most people rather, are still sticking to that, thinking that that is the
00:55 essence of the Vedas.
00:58 That part became obsolete, redundant, there's nothing in that, it belongs to the museum now.
01:04 That part still has some historical value, you can refer to it and there are times when
01:08 you find gems hidden even there in the Karmakant part.
01:15 But mostly it has only value in antiquity, just as you preserve a piece of some antique
01:29 good but still the Vedas have tremendous value even today and they will remain immortal.
01:35 Why is that so?
01:36 Because of Vedanta.
01:39 That's the essence of ancient India.
01:41 So when you say ancient India, do not mean anything except Vedanta and that's what you
01:46 have to practice.
01:47 Right, okay.
01:48 Right.
01:49 So I think if I can rephrase my question, I think so what would these, since these are
01:58 what will remain relevant immortally, what are the truths or understandings that we should…
02:06 No, there are no truths there, there is just the instruction in several forms, repeated
02:13 in several ways to always be vigilant, always self-enquire.
02:21 That's the message of the Upanishads.
02:25 You are nothing except your understanding.
02:29 Keep knowing, keep asking, keep knowing, keep asking.
02:36 This is where when you were talking earlier right about the self-awareness without understanding,
02:41 this is where it's coming from.
02:45 Yes, yes, that's ancient India.
02:47 So when I say you should know, you should know, when the Upanishads tell you that you
02:53 should constantly be on the journey from darkness to light, that's ancient India, not all the
03:03 other hodgepodge.
03:04 Thank you.
