00:00 >> [INAUDIBLE] MVP has never motivated me.
00:04 To be the best, to be the best to ever play the game has motivated me and
00:08 has resulted in me being able to be league MVP a couple times.
00:11 But I've never gone into the season saying, okay, league MVP is what I wanna be.
00:16 I'm going into the season saying, okay, I wanna be the MVP of this team.
00:19 I wanna be the best player in the world.
00:21 And how I approach my game every day, how I take care of my body every day,
00:25 has resulted in things like that.
00:26 >> Do you see a similar hunger from- >> How do you evaluate that for yourself?
00:29 >> What do you mean?
00:30 >> Your goal is just to be the best.
00:32 How do you- >> No, that's not my only goal.
00:34 >> No, no, I agree with you that we gotta- >> Uh-huh.
00:36 >> When you say you wanna be the best player in the world,
00:39 that's like MVP is not what you most strive for.
00:41 >> Yeah.
00:42 >> When you evaluate yourself, how do you- >> As far as what,
00:47 how do I evaluate myself?
00:49 >> How do you know if you're gonna be the best player in the world?
00:52 >> In being the best in the world?
00:56 It's just, I think it's the way that the games that I play,
01:02 leadership, how my teammates feed off my presence and feed off my word.
01:09 It's so much more than for me being the best player in the world and
01:14 just going out and doing it on the floor.
01:18 I think leadership has a lot to do with it.
01:20 Having a command, holding yourself accountable,
01:24 allowing others to hold you accountable as well.
01:27 So I have a lot of tears too, trying to be the best player in the world.
01:33 It's not just about basketball side.
01:37 >> Is this on par with what you were expecting of yourself entering the season?
01:41 Or are there things that you think you've done even better than you anticipated?
01:45 >> Coming to the season, I didn't know I would be the point guard of the team.
01:48 It was discussed.
01:49 It was talked about a little bit in the off season, but
01:52 it was never set in place if I would be the primary ball handler for this ball club.
01:58 So me doing that is, I don't wanna say surprising, but
02:03 it's been a challenge, something I haven't done since my rookie year.
02:07 And that was only like a half of the season, maybe not even that long.
02:11 So that's something I've had to challenge myself and change my game in that form.
02:16 Making sure that I continue to get everybody involved, set the offense up,
02:19 set the tempo, put guys in position, which I've done a lot in my career.
02:23 But it's a lot different when you're actually the point guard.
02:25 If you're a point guard, you would understand.
02:28 If not, then you're like, what is he talking about?
02:30 He's always done this.
02:32 But it's totally different.
02:33 But that's been one of the biggest changes for me this year.
02:39 >> What is it?
