00:00 I'm Jill Painter Lopez of Sports Illustrated here with our very own Melissa Rowland.
00:09 And Melissa, you were just on a conference call with LeBron James.
00:13 What was your biggest takeaway from that conversation?
00:15 My biggest takeaway is that if the season ends today and he's not able to help the Lakers
00:21 compete for their first championship since 2010, he would feel a major lack of closure.
00:27 Obviously, LeBron had led the Lakers to the top record in the Western Conference at 49-14.
00:32 He was having an MVP caliber season.
00:35 And if he's not able to see that through, there would definitely be something very strongly
00:39 lacking, something very strongly missing.
00:41 That being said, LeBron also said that he's been able to stay positive during this time.
00:46 He's been meditating.
00:48 The one silver lining of the NBA season being paused because of the COVID-19 pandemic is
00:53 that he's been able to spend a lot of time with his family.
00:56 Obviously, after 17 seasons in the NBA, he's been on the road a lot.
01:00 And LeBron has obviously taken whatever team he's been on to the finals a lot of times.
01:07 So that's equaled a lot of time away from his three children.
01:10 So he's spending as much time with them as he possibly can right now, playing cards,
01:15 having tea time with his daughter, working out with his sons.
01:17 So even though he feels as though something sorely lacking by not being on the court with
01:22 his brothers, with his teammates, he said that he's trying to make the best out of a
01:26 crummy situation.
