00:00 I'm Jill Painter Lopez for Sports Illustrated here with Melissa Rowland and Melissa, Shaquille
00:09 O'Neal had some interesting news on the big podcast with Shaq concerning Kobe going into
00:14 the Hall of Fame.
00:15 What was that all about?
00:16 Kobe's going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in August and Shaq said he's not going
00:21 to be able to watch the ceremony, which is obviously very interesting considering they
00:26 won three straight NBA championships together from 2000 to 2002.
00:30 But he said it would just be too painful.
00:33 After Kobe died, Shaq went on TNT during a live television show and he started crying
00:40 and he said that this was the sharpest pain that he had felt in a very long time.
00:44 He said now he knows what it feels like to lose a brother.
00:48 After that, he was really destroyed.
00:49 He wasn't sleeping at night and he said he's just finally gotten control of his emotions
00:55 and watching Kobe being inducted into the Hall of Fame would just be too painful for
01:00 him to watch.
01:01 Melissa, I would have thought that maybe he would have been considered to actually give
01:05 Kobe's speech to induct him into the Hall of Fame, but we'll have to see.
01:10 I would have thought that too, especially since Shaq spoke at Kobe's and Johnna's public
01:16 memorial on February 24th.
01:18 But I guess Shaq just thinks that this specific ceremony will just be too tough for him to
01:24 be at and he's finally maybe gained a little more control over his life and he doesn't
01:29 want to go back to that dark space.
01:31 Yeah, understandable.
01:32 Thanks, Melissa.
