00:00 I'm Jill Painter Lopez for Sports Illustrated here with Melissa Roland.
00:07 Melissa, according to some reports, the NBA is considering allowing teams into their practice
00:12 facilities of cities that are lifting those stay-at-home orders.
00:15 What are your thoughts on that?
00:17 It would give some teams and some players a huge competitive advantage.
00:22 Nobody's played basketball for two months, and if some players and some teams are allowed
00:27 to get back into their facilities, they're going to have a big advantage.
00:31 Most players have been relegated to Zoom workouts during this time, to lifting weights at their
00:35 homes, to running around their blocks.
00:38 Nobody's in good basketball shape.
00:40 So obviously, if some teams have two weeks more in their facilities of actually playing
00:44 basketball and doing basketball drills, that's going to be huge.
00:48 So look at Los Angeles, for example.
00:51 Our safer-at-home orders extend through at least May 15th, so that means the Lakers aren't
00:56 going to be getting back in their facility anytime soon, while other teams might.
01:00 Obviously, that's not fair.
01:01 So it'll be interesting to see what the NBA does in terms of creating some form of parity
01:06 here.
