00:06 And Melissa, Kobe Bryant is receiving an award posthumously, the Emmy Governor's Award, a
00:11 philanthropic one.
00:13 What do you know about that award?
00:14 Well, Kobe Bryant was very active off of the court throughout his career.
00:19 And after his retirement in 2016, he was involved in various philanthropic endeavors, including
00:25 he wanted to help end homelessness.
00:27 And he devoted a lot of his time, his energy and his money into that.
00:31 He was also very much championed the cause of women's rights and gender and gender equality,
00:37 especially through basketball.
00:39 He was a huge supporter of the WNBA.
00:42 His daughter, Gianna, obviously dreamed of playing in the WNBA one day.
00:45 So he really always talked about how he loved the league.
00:50 He showed up to games and he threw a lot of support behind that as well.
00:54 So Kobe was very active off the court as well as winning five NBA championships over his
00:59 career.
