00:00 I'm Melissa Rowland with Sports Illustrated and we're here with Jill Painter-Lopez.
00:08 Alex Caruso has been very active over social media ever since George Floyd was killed by
00:14 a white police officer last Monday.
00:16 And amid all of the protests going on around the nation, what has stood out to you from
00:22 what Alex Caruso has said?
00:24 Well, Melissa, a couple of things.
00:26 One of the things he retweeted was a video of a father that has gone viral talking to
00:32 his son and he was showing him some pictures on a computer.
00:35 And it was just really heartwarming to see because he was saying it was pictures of a
00:41 white child and a black child.
00:42 And in many of the pictures they were hugging or smiling.
00:46 And he kept saying, you know, what do you notice about this picture?
00:48 And he's like, oh, they're happy.
00:50 What do you notice?
00:51 They're hugging.
00:52 What else do you notice?
00:53 And, you know, he's described all the emotions in these photos and he's like, the green grass.
00:57 And he's like, yeah, the grass is tall, his dad said.
01:00 So it was basically the video just saying, you know, racism isn't born, it's taught.
01:05 So Caruso retweeted that and he's using his platform and weighing in on other matters
01:10 as well.
01:12 And somebody responded to him and said, just dribble.
01:16 And Caruso, I thought, had a very funny response, which was, I'm actually playing some off guard.
01:21 So thanks, man, or something like that.
01:23 So he was able to basically say, I don't need to just dribble.
01:29 I can weigh in on matters of social justice and his opinion.
01:34 But he's posted a lot of political tweets as well and just using his platform and his
01:38 voice to weigh in on certainly what is going on in our country right now.
