00:00 I'm Melissa Rome with Sports Illustrated and longtime civil rights activists and former
00:07 U.S. Congressman John Lewis recently passed away after a long battle with cancer.
00:12 Jill, both LeBron and Dwight Howard weighed in on what he meant both to them and to society
00:18 as a whole.
00:19 What did they have to say?
00:20 Well, Melissa, LeBron called him a civil rights icon, of course, for all of the work that
00:26 he did.
00:27 And it was all about LeBron saying peaceful protest, everything peaceful, good trouble,
00:32 getting good trouble, which of course is one of John Lewis's most famous quotes, talking
00:38 about you have to stand up for something and sometimes it's okay to get in trouble.
00:42 As we know, he had been arrested, of course, as well, doing peaceful protests.
00:47 But just the way he went about his life, trying to exact change for 60 years, really.
00:53 And LeBron said what he meant to him, what he meant to black America, what he meant to
00:58 the state of Georgia.
00:59 He said he just made such a positive impact.
01:01 And again, that phrase good trouble and we see Dwight Howard, we see LeBron James and
01:06 so many of the Lakers trying to help exact change, which is exactly what they are doing.
