00:00 The NBA's restart will begin on July 30th and the Lakers will take on the Clippers at
00:06 Disney's wide world of sports complex.
00:09 Joining me now from all Lakers is Melissa Rowland and S size fantasy and gambling analyst
00:14 Corey Parson.
00:15 Melissa, this matchup seems like the perfect opening number for the league.
00:19 We have a well rested LeBron James going against a rejuvenated Kawhi Leonard.
00:24 How do you think the Lakers will be will fare in this matchup?
00:27 Exactly.
00:28 After five months of no basketball, the NBA is opening up gameplay with a boom, pairing
00:34 up two of the most exciting teams.
00:37 It'll be interesting to see what happened because obviously the Lakers lost to the Clippers
00:42 in their first two games of the season.
00:44 But then in their final game, when they met three days before the hiatus, the Lakers looked
00:50 really good and LeBron James looked like he had turned a corner.
00:54 He was reaching MVP caliber.
00:56 The Lakers won.
00:57 LeBron James had a monster performance.
00:59 Actually, Avery Bradley, who recently opted out of the restart, also was key in that game.
01:04 So it'll definitely be interesting to see how these two teams fare up, especially because
01:09 I know the Lakers have expressed some concern or they said that the hiatus definitely does
01:13 not work to their advantage because they have a lot of older players, including 35 year
01:18 old LeBron James, who, you know, had reached his peak and didn't want to be resting during
01:23 this time.
01:24 He's obviously stayed in great shape during this break, and I'm sure we'll be ready to
01:28 go when the season starts up.
01:30 Corey, I mean, great insight.
01:32 We just heard from Melissa how they did in this matchup before we went on hiatus.
01:36 What's your take on this?
01:37 Who would you bet to win the matchup?
01:39 Well, listen, when you come out, Melissa said it very well with that last game that they
01:44 played right before the season got shut down.
01:46 LeBron James was coming into form.
01:48 He was looking like he was getting ready to go into LBJ playoff mode, but that was a long
01:52 time ago.
01:53 So this game that we're looking at to start the season or the seeding round, to me, this
01:57 is nothing more than really a glorified exhibition.
02:00 You got two teams that already, for the most part, locked into their standing.
02:03 The Lakers will be the one seed.
02:04 The Clippers will more likely be the two seed in the West.
02:07 You got older teams.
02:08 So you're going to see unusual minutes in this situation right here.
02:11 So I think this is a, I just, I think this right here is more hype than actually what
02:16 you see a game that has playoff intensity.
02:18 Now as far as betting on this game, I would say this.
02:22 I would bet on the Clippers.
02:24 Obviously the Lakers are a big public favorite.
02:26 Public money is coming in on the Lakers, but the Clippers are still the favorite in this
02:29 game.
02:30 And also another thing, Melissa mentioned Avery Bradley.
02:32 When the Lakers do get into the first round of the playoffs, Avery Bradley's perimeter
02:36 defense is going to be missed, mainly and especially because if the Lakers end up taking
02:41 on teams with good point guards like a Damian Lillard or a John Moran.
02:46 So it's definitely going to be a very interesting restart for the Lakers.
02:49 But in game one, I will take the Clippers.
02:50 All right, again, we are all looking forward to you guys.
02:54 Thank you both for your insight on this.
02:55 I appreciate it.
