00:00I'm Jill Painter Lopez with Melissa Rowland of Sports Illustrated and Melissa, as you
00:05know, so many Lakers and other NBA players are making big sacrifices to be in this bubble
00:12with the NBA in Orlando. Alex Caruso is one as he had to miss his sister's wedding. What
00:17went into that decision?
00:18Exactly. That was a really tough decision for Alex Caruso. Him and his older sister
00:23are extremely close. In fact, his sister had planned her wedding around Alex Caruso so
00:29that he could attend. The wedding was scheduled for July. And obviously, if the COVID-19 pandemic
00:34had not hit, the finals would have been over with in mid-June. So Alex would have gone
00:39to attend the event. So obviously, everything got shifted back by four months. And now Alex
00:45Caruso was in a situation where he had to decide what to do. And the NBA actually told
00:50him that if he attended his sister's wedding in Texas, where a lot of coronavirus cases
00:57are spiking right now, that he would likely have to quarantine for 10 days, which would
01:01have meant he'd have to miss the team's three scrimmages, potentially even also the start
01:06of the season. And with Rajon Rondo out and Avery Bradley opting out, he just decided
01:11that he needed to stay with his team during this time, even though it was extremely hard
01:15for him to miss out on this wonderful family event.
