00:00On Tuesday evening, Kawhi Leonard and Patrick Beverley were officially named to the NBA's
00:04all-defensive second team, a well-deserved honor for both players. The LA Clippers have
00:09been heralded all season long for their effort on the defensive end of the floor and Leonard and
00:12Beverley each play a significant role in that. Both take on the most challenging assignments
00:17night after night and have helped contribute to a unit that ranks fifth in defensive rating this
00:21season. Leonard and Beverley had already established themselves as some of the league's best defenders
00:26Not only is this Leonard's sixth all-defensive selection, the 29-year-old is also a two-time
00:31defensive player of the year. Beverley, on the other hand, has now made an all-defensive team
00:35for the third time in his career and the first time since 2006-2017 NBA season. Leonard and
00:41Beverley were an incredibly potent combination of the regular season as well for the Clippers
00:44team, outscoring opponents by 17 points, 400 possessions. They aren't the only Clippers to
00:49be honored this season either. Star Reserve Montrez Herald was recently named this year's
00:54sixth man of the year after averaging 18.6 points and a little over seven rebounds a game,
00:59winning out over teammate Lou Williams and Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dennis Schroeder.
01:03There's a very good chance Leonard will end up earning all NBA honors as well this season,
01:08and Paul George could join him in that if he's lucky. Now obviously the goal is to win an NBA
01:12title this season, but this type of recognition certainly isn't a bad thing, especially for
01:17longtime Clippers fans that have kind of been starved of this for a long time. Rounding out
01:21the NBA's all-defensive second team was Bam Adebayo, Eric Bledsoe, and Brooke Lopez,
01:26while Ben Simmons, Marcus Smart, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis,
01:30and Rudy Gobert were named the NBA's all-defensive first team.
