Sixers head coach Brett Brown discusses James Ennis and Matisse Thybulle ahead of the matchup with the Jazz.

00:00 A hell of a year.
00:02 I bring him off the bench because I want stability and
00:05 more of a veteran presence coming off the bench.
00:08 As the game unfolds, and we did it years ago with Mono,
00:11 like Mono on NBA All-Star came off the bench.
00:13 And to say he's Mono, I am not, but there's a little bit of the same
00:17 reasoning where you bring somebody off the bench and then you judge the game.
00:21 I'm judging Matisse, I'm judging Firk, I'm judging James.
00:27 And he has the edge on those two young guys right now.
00:30 And I think when you talk about who can make a shot,
00:35 he's a sneaky offensive rebounder.
00:38 He's a physical defensive player, a prideful defensive player
00:43 that has qualities that give you confidence when it's 98-98 and
00:49 there's five minutes left, he should be on the court.
00:52 >> When you mentioned Matisse there, I mean, you've talked about him a lot and
00:55 kind of the growing fans he has as a rookie naturally.
00:57 But with his strength and weaknesses kind of perfectly lining up with what your
01:00 guys' current strength and weaknesses are, does that make it easier or
01:02 harder to get him out there and kind of get him experience?
01:06 Did that question make sense?
01:08 >> It does make sense, it's a good question.
01:09 Yes, it does make it harder.
01:15 At times, I should have a higher tolerance level to endure
01:20 his wild decisions defensively, because they are punishing.
01:24 This league is so unforgiving when you just forget, I left,
01:30 pick him tonight, Joe Ingles.
01:32 I forget he could shoot, and I'm just gonna go make whatever play I want.
01:35 And my bad, he's getting better at that, and
01:40 I have to allow him to get better at that.
01:42 And coming to jump stops in the paint and transition where he's got a plan,
01:48 and he's not just airborne, now what do I do?
01:51 And so he's a good person and he cares, and
01:55 there is a tolerance level that I have to be better with.
01:59 And at times that's hard, cuz you're trying to win.
02:03 And I think that he has shown progressive growth in a mature way,
02:08 in a way that I can delineate, I can see it, I feel it.
02:13 And it's true, I'm always reminding myself if we woke up tomorrow and
02:20 it's April 15th, but I feel comfortable that I've grown him the way that I should.
02:25 And I need to do more and
02:28 better within the sort of confines of what I just said.
