Lenka Slovakova talks about her new shop, Krunchee Kandeez, which will be offering new craze - freeze-dried sweets - when it opens in Blackpool on Saturday April 27.

00:00Hello, I'm with Lenka and husband Alan. They're just about to open a new sweet shop in Bloodpool, Crunchy Candy.
00:07But the sweets are a little bit different. What's going on Lenka? How are the sweets different?
00:12So basically they are freeze-dried candy.
00:15Okay, and what's freeze-dried candy?
00:17Freeze-dried candy is a process of any chewy sweet that turns into a crunchy sweet.
00:23So with people who like crunchy stuff, they will be in their paradise.
00:30It helps people who have a braces, for instance, or an older generation that can't chew.
00:37It's nice and it will explode in your mouth.
00:40So it's a mind-blowing process that is very, very popular in America.
00:45And we've been established over a year now.
00:49But we are opening the shop now, so you should try it.
00:55Now these sweets, I understand, they're not chewy sweets, are they?
00:58So they're not going to destroy your teeth or catch in your mouth or whatever.
01:04Or ruin your braces or your fillings. That's true, isn't it?
01:07It's sort of like a melt-in-your-mouth type of thing?
01:09Yeah, so for instance, we've got the soft caramel.
01:12As you can see, soft caramel is right here.
01:17And this caramel is Werder's original.
01:22And they are freeze-dried, so when you put it in your mouth, it just explodes.
01:26But leave all the flavour inside it.
01:30Okay, yeah. Fair enough.
01:33And you've got all sorts of different flavours here.
01:35So we've got, yes, we've got from original sweets, those Mega Baskets, Jolly Ranchers, all sorts of things here.
01:42I'm alright thinking you make your own sweets as well, don't you?
01:45We do. We do manufacture them and we supply other shops.
01:50Is it difficult to make them? How do you do that process of the freeze-drying?
01:54Yes, some sweets can take a very long time, a very, very long time to freeze-dry.
01:59Especially the chewy ones, which are usually gummy, but now they are nice and crunchy.
02:06I see. Okay then.
02:09And you're going to be opening the shop on Saturday?
02:12Yes, we will open the shop on the 27th of April at 9.30.
02:16And where is the shop based, please?
02:18The shop is based in Blackpool in 56 Tilsey Road.
