00:00Thank you for being here.
00:01Just to put a fine point on my colleague's questions,
00:04three weeks later, can you say you're
00:07satisfied with the steps that Israel has taken so far?
00:12Has the deconfliction mechanism that you talked about,
00:15you said there's progress, is that in place now
00:17and is working?
00:20And the final thing is about the peer.
00:23We're being told US will rely on Israel for security.
00:27Can you elaborate on that?
00:28Is it going to be security of US troops provided by Israel?
00:32Who will distribute the aid inside Gaza?
00:34Thank you.
00:35I'll take your last part and turn it to Sonali for that.
00:38But I am not going to give you, and I'll
00:40spare the rest of your colleagues,
00:42I'm not going to give you a grade.
00:43Did they get an A plus, an A or a B?
00:46We are in the constant process of monitoring, assessing,
00:50facilitating, supporting progress towards the goals
00:54the president set.
00:55This is not a gotcha test.
00:58At 2 PM on the 7th of May, will Israel pass or not?
01:03This is a set of requirements to help
01:06the people of Gaza and humanitarian workers whose
01:10role is vital in facilitating assistance.
01:15Progress is being made.
01:18But I am not going to stand here and give you a grade on that.
01:21More needs to be done.
01:26Sonali, you want to talk about JALOTS?
01:28Sure.
01:28So just on your question on JALOTS,
01:31we're working from USAID, working very closely
01:34with CENTCOM to put together the JALOTS and the PIR.
01:40We're working very closely with the UN
01:42to handle the distribution mechanism into Gaza.
01:46I'll also say that we are taking a lot of care
01:48to respect the UN's neutrality and independence
01:51in terms of distribution.
01:53Just on your question on security,
01:55I think that's best placed to DOD.
01:58But suffice it to say that IDF is providing some security
02:03and force protection measures to US assets that will be offshore.
02:07And I'll have you ask my DOD colleagues
02:09further questions on that.
02:11Over.
02:11Thanks.
02:12Sonali.
02:12Go ahead.
02:13Mr. Ambassador, can you talk a little bit
02:15about the role of the U.S. military in the Gaza Strip?
