00:00 (crowd cheering)
00:02 - Gentlemen, you receive instructions on dressing room.
00:04 I expect a good, clean fight.
00:06 Protect yourselves at all times.
00:08 Obey my commands at all times.
00:09 Touch 'em up.
00:10 - It's time for Johnny Rockets main event.
00:17 Eight rounds for the vacant WBC US Silver Lightweight title.
00:21 Michael Parente and Suquare Olivera
00:23 bringing you all the action tonight.
00:24 Ringside live from Valley's Twin River, Lincoln.
00:28 On Swerve Combat, this one should be a good one.
00:30 We've got Alejandro Paulino Ray in the gold trunks.
00:33 Taking on Esteban Falco from Brazil in the white trunks.
00:36 Expect some fireworks early on here tonight.
00:39 This one's scheduled for eight.
00:40 We'll see how far this one ends up going.
00:43 Paulino, probably the toughest test of his career.
00:45 He's had some tough ones lately.
00:47 - Paulino always comes out strong in the front line.
00:49 That's one thing that TV people are gonna love to see about him.
00:53 - Falco's been down this road before.
00:57 Again, only really a year removed from big wins
00:59 over an 18-0 and a 10-1-1 fighter.
01:02 So this is a guy who's gone in against
01:04 undefeated fighters before.
01:05 He's gotten victories.
01:06 Promoted by Marshall Kaufman from King's Promotion
01:14 now in Reading, Pennsylvania.
01:15 So you know he's been in there with some tough competition.
01:17 Kaufman always matching his fighters tough.
01:19 And he's done that with Falco
01:21 since Falco basically moved to the United States in 2022.
01:25 And he's really been a staple in that Pennsylvania area.
01:27 Again, most recently fought on the zone.
01:32 That fight was in Orlando
01:33 and then fought on Showbox prior to that.
01:35 So he's had the big TV, big lights experience.
01:38 - Rogue fighters are coming out
01:41 throwing some big bombs at each other.
01:43 Oh, what a beautiful fight there.
01:48 - Stumbling a little bit toward the ropes there.
01:49 Nice right hook there by Paulino.
01:52 Now he's got Falco in some trouble.
01:54 Falco just trying to cover up.
01:56 Fight back off the ropes.
01:56 Nice right hand by Falco in the exchange.
01:58 Falco got his footing back.
02:03 - Alejandro is capable of being hurt.
02:04 - Yes.
02:06 Well, one of the things, Ray,
02:07 we noticed that we saw Paulino early on in his career
02:11 have a lot of, let's call it easy victories
02:13 against subpar opponents as you do to build up the record.
02:16 And as those opponents progress in levels of toughness,
02:21 one of the things that Paulino had to work on was defense.
02:23 - Yes.
02:24 - And we've seen that in recent fights now.
02:25 The defense is tight.
02:27 Have you seen that improvement now in those recent fights?
02:29 - Two fights before I did.
02:31 - Yeah.
02:32 - Besides that, he's going back to this,
02:35 you know, it's his style though.
02:37 He's like Scott Pembleton.
02:40 - Yeah.
02:41 - I'll give you one, you give me one.
02:42 Who knocks out who first?
02:43 And it's been working for him so far.
02:45 He's undefeated, 16 wins, 13 knockouts.
02:48 So why change?
02:49 - Had a couple of fights and we saw them, Ray,
02:52 against Andrew Rogers.
02:54 That was back in 2022.
02:56 We saw a similar fight against Brandon DiGiorgio
02:59 also in 2022.
03:00 Those were the tougher fights at that time.
03:03 And he took some shots in those fights.
03:05 He got knocked out against Andrew Rogers.
03:06 But every time that he faced any adversity,
03:08 he's come back swimmingly and completed the fight,
03:11 completed the task.
03:12 - Definitely.
03:13 You know he's not a quitter.
03:15 He keeps coming.
03:16 Right now, as his usual self, he's pressing.
03:19 He's working those body shots.
03:21 What he's doing much better today,
03:23 you see he's putting his punches in combinations.
03:25 Where last one, he was throwing one at a time.
03:28 But today, he's putting them in combinations.
03:30 - Final seconds here, round number one.
03:34 Strong output so far by Paulino.
03:38 So you know one thing, Ray,
03:41 you know Paulino's gonna come out firing.
03:43 You know he's gonna come out strong.
03:44 Gakko's tough, we've seen that.
03:46 We've seen his ability to hang in there in these fights.
03:49 And again, he's an upset-minded fighter
03:51 who has pulled off those upsets.
03:53 It's one thing to go in there
03:54 and talk about the combined record
03:56 of your last seven or eight opponents,
03:57 but do you have any wins during that stretch?
04:00 Falco can say, "Yes, I do.
04:01 "In fact, I've got a couple big ones."
04:02 And again, he beat an 18-0 opponent back in May of 2023,
04:06 beat a 10-1-1 guy in the fight right after that.
04:09 So every fight for Falco seems to intensify
04:13 every time he gets in that ring.
04:15 The level of competition seems to go higher and higher.
04:18 Paulino is right there, 25 years of age.
04:20 We know the sky's the limit.
04:22 It's really a good test for both guys.
04:24 - It definitely is a test for Paulino.
04:27 Is it a test for Falco?
04:29 He already been through that test.
04:30 - Sure, sure.
04:31 - You know, this last round I gave it to Paulino.
04:35 Does Falco wanna stay in there
04:37 and take these big punches from Paulino?
04:39 We know Paulino, you know, I'm gonna say
04:42 is chinning suspect.
04:43 - Sure.
04:44 - But he comes back.
04:45 Do you, have we seen Falco come back
04:47 after being hit the way Paulino just hit him?
04:50 - Round two underway here on Sword of Combat.
04:52 You're watching the eight round main event
04:54 for the vacant WBC US Silver Lightweight title.
04:57 Alejandro Paulino in the gold trunks
04:59 and Esteban Falco in the white.
05:01 And you're right, Ray.
05:03 We've seen some instances where Paulino's got caught
05:05 like he just did coming in on the way there,
05:07 but it's a two-edge, you know, it's a double-edged sword.
05:10 - Yes. - You've seen,
05:11 you don't wanna always see your fighter in that position,
05:13 but sometimes you want that adversity
05:14 to see how he bounces back from it.
05:16 Oh!
05:18 Not sure what happened there, but--
05:19 - That was a--
05:20 - They're gonna call that a knockdown.
05:23 - It was a knockdown. - Yeah.
05:23 - I mean, Falco did throw a straight right hand,
05:26 slip a knot, he went down.
05:28 - Very interesting, as we noted,
05:29 we talked about Paulino facing some adversity,
05:32 and here again, he gets, in theory, knocked down
05:35 because he took that straight right hand
05:37 and he went to, I couldn't tell if he went to the backside
05:39 and popped back up, but it was very much a flash knockdown,
05:42 but nonetheless, a knockdown for Falco.
05:44 - And sometimes that's what Paulino needs,
05:46 to wake him up.
05:47 He gets hit, you see he came up
05:49 as he's on his rec, he's gonna defeat him.
05:51 He gets up and he puts you back down.
05:52 - Nice right hand there by Paulino,
05:54 followed by the uppercut.
05:56 And now Paulino fighting back here,
05:58 midway through round two.
05:59 A lot of time in this round,
06:00 could be a situation where Paulino could,
06:05 in theory, dominate the round
06:06 with the exception of the knockdown,
06:07 which makes a very interesting scoring.
06:09 - And the weird thing about it is,
06:12 in pro boxing, they score a 10-8.
06:15 - Yeah.
06:16 (laughs)
06:18 Paulino and Falco exchanging here
06:24 in the center of the ring.
06:24 So a very wild flurry, we'll take a look at it
06:26 at the end of the round, but a very wild flurry
06:28 in the center of the ring,
06:29 and Falco caught him on the way in,
06:30 and that's what scored a knockdown.
06:32 So Ricky Gonzalez, the referee, was right on top of it.
06:35 - I guess I still gotta say, Paulino,
06:39 he needs to work on that defense.
06:41 - Yeah.
06:42 - These fights, he can get away with that,
06:43 but when you start fighting top 10 in the world,
06:46 that's when you don't get away with it.
06:48 - No, you're right, and we mentioned it
06:49 during the top of the broadcast,
06:51 we mentioned it a little bit in the first round
06:53 about seeing some defensive improvements,
06:55 but here we see the situation where, again,
06:57 he kinda walks into that shot,
06:59 and sometimes that aggressiveness,
07:01 he leaves himself open for counter.
07:03 - Yeah, he throws his right hand,
07:04 and he brings his right foot with it,
07:06 and that's why he gets caught,
07:07 'cause he squares right up.
07:09 Well, you're gonna see that with the knockdown.
07:11 (crowd shouting)
07:14 - Final 30 seconds here of round number two.
07:18 Falco coming in swinging hard.
07:20 Again, listen, we talked about it,
07:24 don't let the record, and it's not a bad record,
07:26 the 13 and three, but you gotta understand
07:31 where Falco's come from in some of the fights that he's had.
07:33 He has been down this road before.
07:34 - Yes, he's seen fights like this, he knows what to do.
07:40 And the crowd does not bother him.
07:42 - Closing seconds here of round two,
07:43 so Esteban Falco scores the knockdown midway.
07:46 Let's take a quick look here, Ray.
07:47 - You can see right there, Paulino,
07:49 he withdraws right hand, he squares right up.
07:51 There he goes, through the right hand.
07:53 Honestly, it was a headbutt, I believe.
07:55 - Interesting.
07:56 - But he did square up.
07:57 - Very interesting looking at the replay.
07:59 - I think it was a headbutt that hit him and dropped him.
08:01 - With that, we'll be back with more.
08:02 Stay tuned on Swerve Combat.
08:04 (upbeat music)
08:07 (upbeat music)
08:09 (upbeat music)
08:12 (upbeat music)
08:14 (upbeat music)
08:24 (upbeat music)
08:33 (upbeat music)
08:42 - Welcome back to Bally's.
08:43 Ray, let's take a look at another angle here
08:45 of that knockdown.
08:46 - It looked like a headbutt, see, threw it, boom.
08:49 Like I said, it was a headbutt that dropped him,
08:51 but the punch was thrown, the referee was on the other side.
08:54 - Very interesting. - He couldn't see it.
08:55 - It looked more like a lead left, then the headbutt,
08:57 and then maybe a right hand in the middle of it.
08:59 But you know what, at the end of the day,
09:00 like you said during the break,
09:01 it doesn't matter what we think,
09:02 it's scored a knockdown.
09:03 The judges will score it accordingly.
09:05 So here we go, round number three again,
09:07 scheduled for eight.
09:08 Alejandro Paulino in the gold trunks,
09:10 taking on Estevan Falco in the white.
09:13 This is your eight round Johnny Rockets main event
09:15 for the vacant WBC US silver lightweight title.
09:19 Falco hanging in pretty tough,
09:23 center of the ring with Paulino.
09:25 - Both guys are trading hooks and right hands.
09:28 Paulino hit him right there with a right left hook.
09:31 - That was a good left hook by Paulino that clipped Falco.
09:34 Now a big right hand by Paulino.
09:36 And here we go.
09:37 Can Paulino now pick up the pace
09:39 and get his rhythm back here in round three?
09:42 Good little uppercut on the inside by Falco.
09:52 - Both guys are trading punches.
09:56 - Yeah.
09:57 That's been very back and forth early.
09:59 So a little instance there
10:01 where maybe Paulino's defense may have let him down,
10:04 but it was so hard to tell him on knockdown
10:05 if it really was a true knockdown.
10:07 But again, it does not matter what we think here.
10:10 Ringside, halfway through round three.
10:12 All action here for the first 90 seconds of this round.
10:17 Both players just full boot style.
10:19 Paulino a little bit low with that one on the belt line.
10:21 - Like I said, you knock Paulino down,
10:23 he comes back and you go,
10:25 I don't believe it was a knockdown,
10:26 but in his head he knows I gotta get that back.
10:29 - Exactly.
10:30 He counts on the scorecard
10:31 and he does have to get it back as you said.
10:33 Now putting nicely on the inside of Paulino.
10:37 Now starting to bring some pressure to Falco.
10:39 - He's working the way he used to work
10:41 when he first started.
10:42 He's starting from that body
10:43 and working his way back up to the head.
10:45 - Michael Parente and Sucre-Ray Oliveira
10:52 bringing the action on Swerve Combat.
10:54 Live from Valley Swing River, Lincoln,
10:57 it's the CES homecoming.
10:59 The long awaited homecoming.
11:00 More than a year and a half in the making,
11:04 but boxing is back at Valley's.
11:06 It's been a great night so far.
11:08 Final 30 seconds here or so of round two,
11:11 or round three rather.
11:12 Better round for Paulino.
11:15 - Definitely a better round for him.
11:16 You know, the aggressor is laying three,
11:18 four punch combinations at a time.
11:20 And he's starting from the body
11:21 and bringing it back up to the head.
11:23 I like how he's not moving that head,
11:25 I like people moving their head,
11:26 but he got his hands up high and tight.
11:28 - Good body work by Paulino.
11:31 And again, you're right Ray,
11:32 not great head movement,
11:33 but the defense has been better.
11:35 (crowd yelling)
11:37 And Paulino really just has to stay
11:43 out of the way of those counters,
11:45 and if he does that, he'll be successful.
11:46 - He's getting counted every time he pulls away.
11:48 - Yeah. - His distance.
11:49 When he's in close, his hands are high and tight,
11:51 and he's whipping those hooks and uppercuts.
11:54 - Three rounds of the books.
11:57 Better round for Paulino,
11:58 and he looked very sharp early in that first round.
12:01 Second round not going his way with the score at knockout.
12:04 So again, like you said Ray,
12:05 it's gonna really be about defending on that counter.
12:08 - Yeah.
12:09 - If he can dictate the pace like he does here
12:11 in this brief clip you see from Rodriguez.
12:13 - Yeah. - Yeah.
12:13 - He's going in combination,
12:16 he starts down from the body,
12:17 he's right back to the head.
12:19 One time Paulino gets knocked hard,
12:21 when he pulls back, he gets,
12:23 he cuts his hand down.
12:24 - And you're right, those were the times
12:26 where he got caught against Brandon Drogo
12:28 and Andrew Rodgers was really on the counter
12:30 when he came out of the break.
12:31 - Yeah. - The head was exposed,
12:32 it was there for the take,
12:33 and any really good experienced opponent
12:36 will see that opening.
12:38 Falco is a very good experienced opponent,
12:40 so you have to be wary of that.
12:41 This is not like it was in the first half of his career
12:44 with guys who did not know how to exploit that opening.
12:47 - You know, when a fight is hurt,
12:48 what do they do?
12:49 They throw wildly, so when you pull back,
12:51 that wild punch is gonna hit you.
12:53 - Bell rings for round number four.
12:57 Once again, you're joining us on Swerve Combat
12:59 from Valley's Twin River Lincoln,
13:00 CES Boxing Homecoming.
13:03 It's our eight round main event.
13:05 Alejandro Paulino in the gold trunk,
13:07 sticking on Estevan Falco in the white.
13:09 - Now this is where we see Paulino,
13:23 when the rounds get longer,
13:25 he goes back to one punch at a time.
13:28 Hopefully he doesn't do that
13:28 and he keeps the combinations working.
13:32 - And you're right, he's so tough
13:33 when he's throwing those combos,
13:34 he's keeping the defense high and tight.
13:36 A very tough fighter to really work against
13:40 when he does those things,
13:41 but as the pace does slow, you're right,
13:43 it's that one punch style,
13:44 and that's when Falco can kinda get his offense going.
13:46 - I mean, when you're trying to hit
13:50 for home runs all the time,
13:52 you tend to get tired.
13:52 - Sure.
13:53 Nice left hand by Paulino on that break.
13:57 - Definitely, but again, one punch,
13:59 you gotta put in combinations.
14:01 But Paulino doesn't have that power
14:03 to knock you out with one punch.
14:04 - It's like Paulino trying to take your advice
14:08 as he had Falco against the ropes.
14:10 Falco, as veterans do,
14:12 they know how to tie up a bit and buy some time,
14:14 and he did just that.
14:15 140 to go in round four.
14:17 - Falco's laying on him, trying to buy some time here.
14:31 Paulino got abrasion, I believe,
14:32 he's on his left eye.
14:33 - And you wonder if it just could be
14:41 from rubbing heads together.
14:42 Sometimes that happens.
14:43 - No, Paulino got hit with a left hook on there
14:47 and it caused the abrasion.
14:48 He's getting hit himself as he pulled out.
15:00 - See, this is where Paulino,
15:02 when he throws his right hand,
15:03 he pulls his right foot off the ground.
15:05 - That's a good three-punch combo by Paulino.
15:08 He backs Falco into the corner.
15:09 - Back to that body, that hurt him.
15:12 - 43 seconds, Paulino's got some time
15:15 to do some work here.
15:17 - He puts that chin down,
15:18 gonna keep that head up,
15:19 he's gonna hit with a wild shot there.
15:20 - That's really where the difference is, Ray, right?
15:24 It's staying poised during these moments
15:26 where he has opportunities
15:27 to not get too far ahead of himself.
15:30 - What I want people to understand
15:31 is Paulino winning the fight.
15:32 Yes, he is.
15:34 But I like him, I love this young man.
15:37 I think he's capable of being a world champion.
15:39 So I'm gonna pick up the faults,
15:40 hoping that he watches this and changes those faults.
15:43 What I call it is you're throwing your punch,
15:49 you're banging them, you look to see,
15:50 hey, look, I'm hitting him.
15:52 That's where you get hit.
15:53 - There's the bell for round four.
15:59 So another good round for Paulino.
16:01 A nice stretch there, Ray, in that final minute
16:03 where he did what he had wanted to see more of,
16:06 which was let his hands go.
16:08 And then when he landed upstairs,
16:09 went back down into the body
16:10 to try to soften up Franco there as well.
16:12 So you're seeing some bits and pieces of it so far
16:15 through this fight.
16:16 - Like we say all the time, you know,
16:19 especially in Rhode Island,
16:20 you don't have to drop your fighter to get an A count.
16:23 If he takes enough punches and won't go down,
16:26 the referee will stop him.
16:28 So why not just keep doing that?
16:30 - Halfway through, still four rounds to go
16:35 in our Johnny Rockets main event.
16:37 We wanna thank you again for joining us on Sword of Combat.
16:40 Michael Parente and Sukuro Ray Oliveira.
16:43 We've been bringing you the action all night here
16:45 from Bally's, the CES Boxing Homecoming.
16:49 First live pro boxing fight card here
16:51 since November of 2022.
16:53 A very long awaited homecoming,
16:55 and it's really been worth the wait.
16:56 We've had some exciting action-packed fights tonight,
16:59 and this one is no different.
17:00 And there's a lot on the line tonight.
17:02 Undefeated record for Alejandro Paulino,
17:04 and of course the vacant WBC US Silver Lightweight title.
17:08 Round five underway.
17:09 Paulino with the gold trunks coming out aggressive
17:12 against Esteban Falco in the white.
17:15 - I got a three-one, Paulino,
17:17 but that one round that Falco won was a 10-eight round.
17:22 - Yeah.
17:23 (crowd shouting)
17:25 - Combination of beautiful hands are tight.
17:29 He's gotta keep that chin down.
17:32 - And again, he's hard to beat when he does that.
17:33 When he's able to execute that kind of game plan,
17:35 it's very tough to land against him,
17:37 and it's very tough to just stop the onslaught.
17:39 - And that's Falco, right now he's in
17:42 an off the right, lefty position.
17:44 Let that left hook go, Paulino.
17:46 He's going to the right, the perfect side.
17:50 He's moving to his left.
17:52 - But as he gets tangled up in the center of the ring,
17:54 slippage on Falco.
17:57 Ricky Gonzalez all over the action.
17:58 - And Paulino been laying that left hook all day.
18:06 I don't know why Falco turned lefty,
18:08 'cause you're vulnerable to that left hook now.
18:10 (crowd shouting)
18:14 (crowd shouting)
18:17 - See Paulino getting eaten.
18:26 He has dead spots.
18:28 - Yeah.
18:29 - This is the dead spot right now he's taking.
18:31 (crowd shouting)
18:34 He's taking his rounds off.
18:36 Yes, he's up three one, but he said one of those rounds
18:42 was a 10, eight round.
18:44 You don't want to take this up,
18:45 'cause if he's winning this round,
18:46 he could be back to an even fight.
18:48 - And it's an even fight after five.
18:49 Yeah, it's a very interesting concept.
18:51 You know, you want to get your footing back,
18:53 you want to get your legs back at times,
18:55 but you really can't in an eight round fight
18:56 where you've been knocked down,
18:57 afford to take the round off.
18:59 Good right hand, sneaks through by Paulino.
19:03 It definitely has been a slower pace in this round.
19:06 - He throws in combinations, he looks beautiful.
19:11 (crowd shouting)
19:14 - Paulino just trying to measure against Falco,
19:17 has him backed against the corner for a second there,
19:20 45 seconds to go in this round.
19:22 Falco does all those little things
19:25 that good savvy veterans do.
19:28 - Yeah.
19:29 - To buy time or just to get out of the way of trouble.
19:31 Makes for a very tough,
19:32 and you can see why he's been in there 16 times
19:34 and how he's hung tough against so many good fighters.
19:37 And he's beaten some of them too.
19:38 He's punching Paulino and he's off balance.
19:41 (crowd shouting)
19:43 Like I said, Paulino throws that right hand,
19:45 he squares right up.
19:46 Falco just throwing that straight left.
19:49 (crowd shouting)
19:51 See, there it goes right there.
19:53 I wouldn't drop my left, right hand if I was him though.
19:58 (crowd shouting)
20:01 (bell ringing)
20:04 - There's the final bell,
20:05 five rounds in the books in this eight round main event
20:08 of SWRF Combat.
20:09 Don't go anywhere, stay with us for more on SWRF Combat.
20:12 (upbeat music)
20:18 (upbeat music)
20:21 (upbeat music)
20:23 (upbeat music)
20:26 (upbeat music)
20:28 (upbeat music)
20:31 (upbeat music)
21:00 - Welcome back to Valley's Twin River Lincoln
21:03 for CES Homecoming live on SWRF Combat.
21:05 Michael Perranti and Sucre Ray Oliveira
21:07 bringing you all the action tonight.
21:08 And here we are more than halfway through our main event.
21:11 Ray, it's been a very interesting fight.
21:13 We're in round number six of eight.
21:15 Paulino suffered a knockdown in round two.
21:17 How do you see this fight going so far?
21:19 Where do you have it on the cards if you could estimate?
21:22 - I got it four rounds for Paulino,
21:27 two rounds for Falco.
21:29 But like I said earlier, that was a two point round.
21:33 So I got it even right now.
21:35 Yeah, so it's five rounds in a book.
21:38 How could you have it even?
21:40 Where I just said, one of those rounds was a 10, eight round.
21:44 So I got it even.
21:45 - It's a very close fight.
21:47 And it's still a program if you think about it here,
21:50 these final three rounds.
21:51 And somebody kind of has to take the initiative here
21:54 out of these final three to.
21:56 - And this is where I say,
21:58 it's an eight round fight, the championship fight.
22:00 These are the championship rounds.
22:01 It's time to put down the gas and let's go.
22:05 Why wait?
22:07 Let's go.
22:07 You did everything you did in the gym.
22:09 You're in shape, you're not in the hold back.
22:11 Let's put the pressure on now.
22:13 - Absolutely.
22:14 You're more than halfway through the fight.
22:15 This is really the go time when you think about it.
22:17 After all the training that you put in to get to this point.
22:20 Time to execute it in the ring.
22:22 And Paulino trying to capture that WBC gold
22:25 and win his first title in his first title bout.
22:28 And for Esteban Falco really just trying to use
22:33 that gritty veteran experience
22:35 to pull out another upset win.
22:36 And he can still do that.
22:38 - The way Paulino's just following him.
22:40 He's not cutting off the ring.
22:42 He's not keeping Falco's back against the ropes.
22:45 Falco's in the middle of the ring right now
22:47 and he's out boxing doing what he wants.
22:49 That's the veteran part we said again.
22:53 - Yep.
22:55 Now you're more than halfway through round six
22:57 and that round is really still up for grabs as well here.
23:00 So somebody could close this round strong
23:01 and really change the perspective of the entire fight
23:05 as you start getting down the stretch.
23:06 - Excellent change there.
23:07 Nice play there by Paulino.
23:09 - Good combination.
23:09 Now you gotta keep his back on the ropes.
23:12 Don't let him get off of him and get back in the middle.
23:16 - Final minute here of this round
23:17 could be a very critical stretch for either fighter.
23:20 (crowd shouting)
23:23 - He's allowing Falco back in the middle of the ring.
23:27 That's what you don't want.
23:28 You wanna put your opponent, Paulino,
23:30 put him back on the ropes.
23:32 - And this is where cutting off the ring
23:33 and that skill set really comes into play too.
23:36 'Cause Falco knows, Falco can probably sense
23:38 that the opponent can't do that.
23:39 He's circled pretty well,
23:40 but when Paulino's managed to catch him with flurries,
23:43 Paulino can close the distance a little bit more.
23:44 But it's been harder in this round.
23:46 - Falco, he has gone eight rounds before.
23:50 He knows this is probably the first one.
23:52 - It is.
23:53 - That he's going to.
23:54 Falco knows, I've been to eight.
23:56 This junk, the young man has it.
23:57 - Start getting into those long charges.
24:00 - He's gonna try to get him out of there.
24:01 - He was there, but yes, Paulino.
24:02 - With the left hook.
24:03 - With the good left hook,
24:04 now trying to close this round strong here
24:06 in the final seconds.
24:07 And there's Zabell.
24:10 Another very close round, Ray.
24:12 - Something like that,
24:13 when he didn't end in the first round high.
24:15 That made him win that round.
24:16 So I know again, I'm giving that round to Paulino.
24:20 Now I got him up.
24:22 It's just my version of what I think I've got going on.
24:25 But I got Paulino winning this fight so far.
24:27 We only have two rounds left.
24:30 Either get him out or keep that pressure
24:32 and keep his back in for long.
24:33 - There's some replays here from round six.
24:36 - Paulino, he gets to get,
24:37 when he lifts his head and he backs against the rope,
24:39 he gets a proper back and forth.
24:41 And he throws combinations.
24:42 Throwing one punch at a time,
24:44 and keep it in the middle.
24:45 Can't get him to do it for Paulino.
24:48 - Paulino, I think no doubt landed
24:49 the more effective blows in round six.
24:52 While there weren't a lot of flurries
24:54 that we're used to seeing.
24:56 It was two or three punches here and there,
24:57 but they were solid shots.
24:59 There were power shots.
25:00 And perhaps in the minds of the judges
25:02 watching a otherwise very close round,
25:05 those three or four shots could sway you in one direction.
25:08 And that's why it's so important to be opportunistic,
25:12 land when you can and continue to come forward.
25:15 Here we go, round number seven underway.
25:17 You're watching us live on Swerve Combat.
25:19 Alejandro Paulino in the gold trunks,
25:21 taking on Esteban Falco in the white.
25:24 Eight rounds for the vacant WBC
25:26 US Silver Lightweight Championship.
25:29 Michael Parensi and Ray Oliveira
25:31 bringing you all the action ringside.
25:33 There goes Paulino.
25:34 - Everybody keep going, keep going with that jab.
25:37 Keep the pressure and keep them punches in combinations.
25:40 - Falco still in that south-west stance too in round seven.
25:47 He's trying to lure Falco in to land that overhand right
25:52 or that left hook.
25:55 Falco knows he has to win these last two rounds
26:11 to put anything close to him winning.
26:14 (crowd cheering)
26:17 - There you go, there you go.
26:26 Now you're gonna keep that pressure and keep pounding him.
26:30 - Nice right hand. - Keep his back on a rope.
26:31 Keep his back on a rope and there you go.
26:33 - It's worth mentioning, Ray,
26:36 every time you've called for the combos
26:38 and we've seen them,
26:39 it's really when Paulino's been at his best.
26:41 When he's letting the hands go,
26:42 three, four punch combos,
26:43 it's just so tough to beat.
26:45 - Yeah, does he have that power for that one punch knockout?
26:48 - Sure. - Yes.
26:48 And when he puts them together, he looks so impressive.
26:51 - Falco not a guy that's easy to stop.
26:57 He went 10 rounds with Ashton Silva in Orlando.
27:01 - I can't tell anybody my career.
27:07 Unfortunately, he can take a punch.
27:08 - Sure, hard to last a long time
27:13 with that mentality,
27:14 but at the end of the day,
27:16 it builds character and toughness.
27:17 And Falco, he's tough, he's got character.
27:19 And he's really come to fight today.
27:22 And he's kept his fight close.
27:24 - If Paulino's jab is landing like that,
27:25 come back with that straight right hand.
27:28 He's in the left hand stance.
27:29 If your jab could touch,
27:31 what do you think your right hand's gonna do?
27:34 - Final 40 seconds of round number seven.
27:42 - See that, he just did it right there.
27:44 That one, two, three.
27:44 - Oh, nice right hand by Paulino.
27:46 Three punch combo, landed on the third one.
27:50 - Straighten out that right hand, Paulino.
27:53 This is why I say sit down,
28:01 now throw one straight right hand.
28:03 - A good close round seven here for Paulino.
28:10 He's got Falco staggering against the ropes.
28:13 A big right hand, and Ricky Gonzalez steps in at the bell.
28:16 Falco is wobbling back to his corner.
28:19 A great way to close out the round for Paulino.
28:21 He's got him on wobbly legs here.
28:23 - The bell saves him on that one.
28:26 He was getting, wanted to jump in,
28:29 but the bell saved him.
28:30 - Another 15 or 20 seconds,
28:33 and Falco may have hit the canvas,
28:35 hit him to the rebound.
28:36 - You can see right here, like I said,
28:37 if the jab is landing,
28:38 he can do straight right hands,
28:40 and you can see right there,
28:41 that right hand straight down the pipe.
28:44 Wide wing it, straight down the pipe again
28:48 with the right hand in combination.
28:50 - You see that right hand from another angle.
28:51 There it is again, that big right hand by Paulino.
28:54 Landed two or three real good shots at the,
28:57 well, at the close of the round.
29:00 - The only thing I would be telling Paulino
29:01 in this corner right now,
29:03 just throw your one-two.
29:05 Just continuously throw the one-two,
29:07 and if you don't continue throwing that one-two,
29:09 I'm not gonna be in the corner the next round.
29:12 - Eighth and final round about to get underway.
29:16 And we'll see if Paulino can either close out the show.
29:20 He had a very strong finish to round seven.
29:22 For the first time in the fight,
29:23 we saw Esteban Falco hurt.
29:26 And luckily had those 60 seconds between rounds
29:29 to recover, recuperate, and possibly get his legs back.
29:33 We'll see if it worked.
29:35 Sometimes 60 seconds is not enough.
29:37 - No.
29:38 (laughs)
29:40 - See that jab, Lin.
29:41 What do you think that right hand can do?
29:43 Put the one-two right on it.
29:44 - Paulino trying to rip to the body here
29:50 early in round eight.
29:51 - Beautiful, there it goes.
29:52 - Nice right hand, and Falco goes down.
29:52 - There it goes, that straight right hand down the pipe.
29:57 - Falco said, "Crash into the canvas.
29:58 "Can he make it back to his feet?"
30:00 You know he was wobbly at the end of round seven.
30:04 - Go right after with that straight right hand.
30:06 - Yeah, and there's a lot of time left in this round.
30:09 So Paulino trying to close this one out.
30:12 Falco is in trouble, he hits a big left hook.
30:16 - Another right hand land,
30:18 referee might just jump in and stop you, bro.
30:21 - Paulino definitely smelling the blood and the water here
30:23 in this eighth round.
30:24 Still two minutes to go, a lot of time for Paulino
30:27 to finish this one in style.
30:29 We'll see if Falco can.
30:34 - If he steps back,
30:36 look at that straight right hand down the pipe,
30:37 he's smothering his punches right now,
30:39 taking one half a step back.
30:41 - And sure, left hand on the break by Paulino.
30:43 Paulino just stalking his opponent down.
30:48 - He straightens out that right hand.
30:52 - Falco at this point just trying to hold on.
31:00 - He has a minute and a half to go here.
31:02 - And a lot of time away. - Can he do it?
31:03 - It's so tough when you get knocked down
31:05 early in a round and you're hurt on top of it.
31:08 Not just a flash knockdown,
31:09 but really getting sent to the canvas
31:11 and having a battle for those final two plus minutes,
31:13 which Falco so far is doing.
31:15 Of course, you know Falco's tired, he's hurt,
31:23 he's trying to hold on,
31:24 and trying to just keep Paulino from winning.
31:26 - And that's a man that's dangerous,
31:27 when they're tied and you're not gonna lose.
31:30 - Final minute of round eight.
31:34 Paulino. - Head the tam on
31:35 that right hand, Paulino.
31:36 Head the tam on it, just let it go,
31:37 straight down that pipe.
31:38 - Scored a big knockdown early in this round.
31:41 - There it goes. - There it is.
31:44 - Sit on it.
31:45 Throw that straight right hand,
31:57 a combination, sit back and hit it.
32:03 Falco's still hanging in there, he's still fighting.
32:06 - He is one tough guy.
32:07 - He's been down this road before.
32:08 - I didn't think he was gonna last this round.
32:10 - Would not guess in the early seconds of round eight,
32:12 when he went crashing to the canvas,
32:13 that he would perhaps survive this round,
32:15 which it appears he is going to do,
32:17 and there is the final bell.
32:18 Very good closing of the show for Alonzo Paulino.
32:23 Strong finish to round seven,
32:25 an exceptional round eight,
32:26 and perhaps Ray, those last two rounds
32:28 may have been what really pulled us away from Paulino.
32:30 - It definitely did, you see right here,
32:32 the combination, the straight right hand,
32:34 he sat on it, he wasn't bouncing on his feet,
32:36 he sent him down.
32:37 You see right here, boom, right down that pipe.
32:41 - Right on the chin, Falco went crashing to the canvas.
32:44 - Falco was moving to his left,
32:46 which is Paulino's right hand,
32:48 all he had to do was throw it all day.
32:50 - And again, that was very early in the round,
32:52 and in a lot of cases there,
32:53 sometimes the aggressor comes in,
32:55 maybe a little too aggressive,
32:57 and you can punch yourself out,
32:58 you run the risk of things happening,
33:00 but Paulino maintained, I think, a good combination
33:03 of being aggressive, but also being patient,
33:05 trying to score that knockout win.
33:07 But at the end of the day, he won the round,
33:09 and most likely here, won the fight,
33:11 which is really the important thing.
33:12 - And most likely had a green belt round eight win.
33:15 - Yeah, and if all goes the way we see it going,
33:19 Alonzo Paulino will be your new
33:20 WBC US Silver Lightweight title.
33:22 And again, Ray, in a fight where there were times
33:25 where he faced some adversity,
33:26 got knocked down in round number two,
33:28 Falco has some solid rounds in the middle
33:30 where he's stemmed the tide a bit,
33:32 and really, when you think about it,
33:34 through five rounds, this was a very close fight.
33:36 - It was. - He's still on progress.
33:37 - These are the fights that you don't want close.
33:39 - Yeah. - You want, I mean,
33:41 you can't pick what you want close or dominate,
33:44 but Paulino's dominating. - Yes.
33:46 - He made this fight close,
33:48 but he took it off in the last two rounds.
33:50 - Well, Paulino, it appears,
33:52 closed the show out strong enough,
33:54 and perhaps strong enough to win the fight,
33:57 and with that, we're gonna send it back
33:58 to the center of the ring with Margaret Cresta
34:01 with the official decision.
34:03 - For the up-to-date CES boxing and MMA news,
34:06 tickets, round card models, photos, and many more,
34:10 once again, cesfights.com.
34:14 Hey, we're gonna bring it back to the center of the ring.
34:17 Take it over, let's go!
34:21 (bell ringing)
34:23 - Ladies and gentlemen, let's give it up
34:24 for these two fighters, they fought hard.
34:27 (audience applauding)
34:30 (explosion booming)
34:33 After eight tough rounds of boxing,
34:35 we go to the judges' scorecards.
34:37 Judge Ken Ezzo scores the bout 77-73.
34:41 Judge Eddie Esconcio scores the bout 78-72,
34:45 and Judge Robert Paulino scores the bout 78-73,
34:50 all in favor of your winner by unanimous decision,
34:54 and still undefeated, the new WBC US
34:59 Intercontinental Champion, Alejandro "El Abusador" Paulino!
35:04 (audience cheering)
