A central Queensland woman who was held at gunpoint in her home by a man later shot dead by police has spoken about the ordeal. The ethical standards command is investigating the police response to the incident.

00:00Tracy Rawlings was resting on the couch at her home in Miriam Vale when a man armed with a rifle turned up at her front door.

00:13The 61-year-old directed him to their farm vehicles. He took a white ute with a trailer attached.
00:19She says he drove straight through their gates and towards the Bruce Highway.
00:24It was just surreal. It was like it was a dream or something. I was just dazed.
00:30As soon as he's gone and I've gone to ring triple zero, I broke down and I was hysterical then.
00:35Less than an hour later, the 36-year-old was shot dead by police on the Bruce Highway after threatening them with the same gun.
00:43These are really tragic incidents. Any time that our officers have to resort to lethal force is really a terrible situation.

00:54Police say the rifle was taken from another stolen ute 20 kilometres down the road.
00:59They're investigating a series of crimes over the past few days.
01:04We do know that a male person fitting this person's description also attempted to break into another address and shed in Cawthrays Road.

01:16Detectives want to speak to anyone who may have been driving past when the shooting happened or who saw either of the stolen vehicles in the area.
