00:10 Hello and welcome to the Scotsman's Daily Bulletin for Tuesday. I'm Alan Young, I'm Deputy Editor of the Scotsman
00:16 and I'm joined today by our Political Correspondent Rachel Emery to take a look through some of the main headlines.
00:21 Hi Rachel.
00:22 Morning.
00:23 Let's have a look at the front page first as ever. And we splash today on the latest around the pressure on the SNP and Green Coalition deal at Holyrood.
00:37 Our line today is Hamza Yousaf under pressure to rethink the deal and this is after it emerged that the Green Party membership would be having a vote on the future of the power sharing agreement.
00:52 This story is going to run and run and that is what I'd like to speak to Rachel about. Rachel we should be hearing more on this today at Parliament.
01:04 Yeah, I expect as the days go on we're going to get more and more and more on this story.
01:08 But as you said, the Green Party in the next week or so are going to be voting on whether to continue with the Beathouse Agreement,
01:13 which was signed in 2021 and brought the Greens into government for the very first time.
01:18 Now the SNP are under pressure here. Some backbenchers have been telling us that they're not happy with it because this means that the Greens are leading the debate as to whether to stay in the agreement or not.
01:30 Not the SNP, who are of course the bigger party in this agreement here.
01:35 So yeah, a lot of pressure there under him just now. I think also under pressure as well because this all kicked off last week when the Scottish Government decided to ditch its climate change targets for 2030.
01:46 Now the Climate Change Committee, which is completely independent of party politics, they're actually probably right now as we're speaking in Holyrood looking at how the government's been doing with carbon emissions.
01:56 So I'm guessing there'll be lots of criticism there, I'm guessing in the committee meeting this morning, and that'll put more pressure on the government as well, and particularly with this deal they're having with the Greens.
02:05 It's not just the climate change targets though that put the agreement under pressure. As we know, the cash review has been a huge issue.
02:17 Yes, again, this is something we've covered a lot in the paper as well. This is a review into services in England, but on the back of it, prescriptions for puberty blockers for trans children under the age of 18 have now been paused in Scotland.
02:30 Now it's not on the official schedule yet, but we are expecting the Public Health Minister Jenny Minto to make a statement on this in Parliament later this afternoon.
02:37 So we'll keep our eyes out to see what happens there, of course, bringing you the latest as it comes to.
02:42 But on the back of that as well, another development this morning, ALBA, we've only got one MSP in Holyrood, that's Ash Regan, who defected from the SNP last year.
02:51 She's now launched a motion of no confidence in the Green government minister, Patrick Harvey.
02:56 Initially, when I saw this coming through, I wondered, is this about climate change? What is this about? It's not. It's actually about the use of puberty blockers.
03:02 Ash Regan is saying that he is rejecting ideology, despite the evidence on these puberty blockers.
03:08 So as to whether she gets enough support for this motion, we've yet to see, but she has officially launched this motion into the future of Patrick Harvey, who is, of course, a government minister.
03:17 Indeed, interesting times ahead. Please do keep an eye on scotsman.com throughout the day, where we'll have all the very latest news and analysis.
