00:00 Before we start today, I wanna ask you a question.
00:03 And we'll consider this kind of like
00:07 your public service reminder.
00:10 Fair enough, everybody needs a little help
00:13 every now and then.
00:14 How many of you have a will prepared
00:18 for when you die?
00:19 Raise your hand, raise your hand.
00:21 Amazing, that's more than I expected.
00:23 Good job, good job.
00:25 If you don't, you need to do it.
00:29 You really do.
00:30 Because if no one's told you, you're gonna die.
00:35 Welcome to Life.Church, where we're here
00:39 to make you feel good about yourself.
00:42 A fun, friendly message for your entire family.
00:45 When you think about it, Jesus kind of had a will.
00:55 And He named you in His will.
01:00 I'll tell you more about that in a minute.
01:04 That was your public service reminder.
01:07 This is the introduction to the message.
01:09 Today, I wanna talk to you about peace.
01:13 Because I just reminded you that you're gonna die,
01:17 and so you need some peace.
01:19 How many of you have ever said,
01:22 "I'd give anything for a moment of peace."
01:25 Raise your hand.
01:26 Type online, you can say, "I need peace right now.
01:28 "Give me a moment of peace."
01:30 'Cause I know your life is a lot like mine.
01:32 You got crazy schedules, you've got bills to pay,
01:35 house to clean, food to cook, dishes to do,
01:39 kids to drive everywhere.
01:41 Should've stopped at two, but you had three.
01:44 Emails to return, texts to make,
01:47 difficult people to deal with.
01:49 How many of you have difficult people to deal with?
01:50 Raise your hand, raise your hand.
01:51 Put your hands on up right now.
01:53 You are the one, right?
01:55 And all of us have so much going,
01:58 we need a little bit of peace.
02:02 I wanna remind you that before Jesus died,
02:05 He named you in His will.
02:10 Romans 8 tells us we're actually heirs of God.
02:15 And Jesus mentioned three different things that He willed.
02:19 What did He will?
02:20 Let me show you.
02:21 On the cross, Jesus willed His mother to John.
02:25 Remember that?
02:26 He's dying and He said basically,
02:27 "Hey, behold thy son, behold thy mother, John.
02:30 "Take care of my mom, I'm trusting her to you."
02:34 The second thing Jesus willed was His Spirit to His Father.
02:38 He said, "It's finished.
02:40 "I've done everything that you sent me to do.
02:41 "Father, into your hands I commit my Spirit."
02:46 He willed His Spirit to the Father.
02:48 And to you, Jesus willed His peace.
02:53 He willed His mom to John,
02:57 He willed His Spirit to His Father,
03:00 and Jesus willed His peace to you.
03:03 And He shows this in John chapter 14
03:07 when He was telling His disciples,
03:08 "Hey, I'm gonna have to go away,
03:10 "but I'm gonna come back to you."
03:12 And He said this, "When I go away, I want you to know,
03:14 "peace I leave with you."
03:17 And then He said, "My peace I give you."
03:22 And He's going to explain to them,
03:25 this is unlike any peace you've ever tried to find
03:29 in this world.
03:30 He said, "I do not give you the peace that the world gives.
03:34 "So do not let your hearts be troubled," He said,
03:38 "and do not be afraid."
03:41 Five words in that verse
03:46 that has the potential to change your life.
03:50 Jesus said, "My peace I give you."
03:55 And the peace that He gives is a different kind of peace.
04:03 Because Jesus said He doesn't give the peace
04:05 that the world gives,
04:07 but there's a different kind of peace.
04:08 You see, there is kind of what we might call
04:10 a worldly peace and a godly peace,
04:13 and there's a big difference.
04:15 A worldly peace is kind of like a pseudo peace.
04:18 It's temporary, it helps you cope.
04:22 It's kind of like the drug will promise you,
04:27 if you smoke the funny weed,
04:28 you'll feel that peaceful, easy feeling, right?
04:31 The drug promises to get you high
04:33 and you feel good for a little while,
04:34 and then you screw up your life.
04:35 Nobody said amen.
04:38 None of you ever smoked a funny weed.
04:40 Wow, praise the Lord, we've got holy people here.
04:43 The drink tells you you can drown your sorrows in the drink.
04:48 Vacations tell you, hey, if you're just on the beach,
04:51 if you're in the mountains,
04:53 you can have that relief and vacations help
04:56 for a little while, but then you come back
04:58 and you're still you.
05:00 It's hard, right?
05:02 You think, if I have a little more money,
05:04 I'll finally have some peace.
05:06 And you get a little more money,
05:07 it actually helps you pay the bills
05:08 and you can be nice and generous to people,
05:10 but there's not enough money in the world
05:13 to fill the void that you have on the inside.
05:15 And so worldly peace is different than a heavenly peace
05:19 or a godly peace.
05:19 So what is godly peace?
05:22 You can actually find it described in Isaiah chapter 26.
05:25 I'm gonna give you the context.
05:26 Isaiah was prophesying into a culture
05:29 that is much like ours.
05:32 You could almost say it was the equivalent then
05:35 of a complicated economy with high interest rates,
05:40 with a difficult election coming up.
05:43 Can I say that?
05:44 I mean, I'll just kind of call it what it is.
05:46 With wars and rumors of wars.
05:49 And Isaiah prophesies into a culture with great uncertainty
05:54 and everybody was afraid.
05:56 And he says, in the middle of this,
05:58 you're gonna break out into real worship
06:02 and you're gonna have this heavenly peace.
06:04 Here's what he said.
06:05 He prophesied, "In that day, everyone in the land of Judah
06:09 will sing this song.
06:11 Our city is strong.
06:14 We are surrounded by the walls of God's salvation.
06:17 Open the gates to all who are righteous
06:20 and allow the faithful to enter."
06:24 And then the prophet declares these words.
06:27 "You will keep in," say it with me.
06:30 "You will keep in perfect peace."
06:33 Let's try it again.
06:33 I need you in.
06:34 I need you in all of our live church.
06:35 You will keep in what?
06:36 You will keep in perfect peace.
06:39 All who trust in you, God,
06:43 all whose thoughts are fixed on you.
06:47 Man, how many of you want some of that?
06:52 Perfect peace, perfect peace.
06:56 The word peace actually comes from a Hebrew word.
07:00 It was the Jewish greeting.
07:01 Like you walk up to someone and they say, "Shalom."
07:04 It's kind of like, what's up?
07:06 Like, yo, dog.
07:08 Like, God bless you.
07:10 Shalom.
07:10 It's the way you say hello.
07:11 Shalom.
07:12 And it means wholeness.
07:15 It means completeness.
07:17 It means fullness of peace.
07:20 If I came up to you and said, "Shalom,"
07:22 I'm saying, "May you have the fullness of the peace of God.
07:25 May you be at peace with other people.
07:27 May you be at peace with yourself.
07:29 May you be at peace with your circumstances,
07:31 even if they are not what you would want
07:33 nor what you would choose,
07:35 but because God is good
07:37 and because Jesus is the Prince of Peace,
07:39 may you be at perfect peace."
07:42 Because in the original text,
07:44 when Isaiah said, "May you be kept in shalom,"
07:47 he didn't just say shalom.
07:48 He actually said, "Shalom, shalom."
07:51 The same word two times back to back.
07:53 He's saying, "May God give you a double portion.
07:56 May God give you your peace and even more than your peace."
08:00 And the translators translate it as perfect peace.
08:05 Jesus says, "My peace I give you."
08:11 And some of you might say, "Okay, thanks, Jesus.
08:16 If you're giving me your peace, why am I still so anxious?"
08:23 Anybody relate?
08:25 Why do I still feel overwhelmed?
08:28 And let me just kind of ask some questions here.
08:30 Can I really have your peace
08:32 when I'm married to Mr. Butthead?
08:34 Do not elbow the person sitting next to you,
08:38 look straight ahead and pretend like
08:40 you don't know what I'm talking about, right?
08:43 Can I have real peace when my kid
08:47 is hanging out with the wrong crowd
08:50 and I'm pretty certain they're doing some things
08:52 that are dangerous?
08:53 Can I be peaceful then?
08:56 Can I be peaceful when I recognize
08:58 that there is porn being viewed in my home?
09:03 Can I really have a peace from heaven
09:07 when my best friend not only let me down,
09:11 but betrayed me and lied about me?
09:13 Can I have peace when the doctor gives me some news
09:17 that I never wanted to hear?
09:23 Can I have peace when there's a lot more month left
09:28 than there is money?
09:30 Can I have peace when my heart is beating
09:34 and I can't even catch my breath and I feel so anxious?
09:37 How do I find this peace?
09:41 The prophet tells us, and Scripture says this,
09:44 "You will keep in perfect peace."
09:47 Now notice what it doesn't say.
09:48 "You will keep in perfect peace
09:50 all those who obsess about the news."
09:53 Doesn't say that, right?
09:56 It doesn't say, "You'll be kept in perfect peace
09:59 all those who look at everything that ticks you off
10:03 on social media and you send it to all your friends
10:06 so they can get mad with you."
10:08 Oh, you know I'm talking to somebody here.
10:11 You're a guest from another church
10:13 'cause our people would never do that here.
10:17 Scripture says, "You'll be kept in perfect peace,"
10:21 help me out, "all whose thoughts are fixed on God."
10:26 You'll be kept in the heavenly kind of peace,
10:30 the peace that this world would not understand
10:33 when your minds, when your thoughts are fixed on God.
10:35 This verse shows us that the battle for peace
10:38 begins in our mind.
10:41 The battle for peace begins in your mind.
10:44 How many of you would say,
10:45 "Sometimes you have a war going on in your mind?"
10:49 Online, just type it in there and be honest.
10:51 I got a war in my mind.
10:53 It's ridiculous.
10:54 Like, I'm a preacher guy, right?
10:57 I've been doing this for a long time,
10:58 and so I should have it down.
11:00 And I can tell you all day long the promises of God
11:04 and believe they're true for you.
11:06 And then oftentimes I have a hard time
11:09 believing they're true for me.
11:11 It's a war in my mind.
11:13 You'll be kept in perfect peace,
11:15 all whose thoughts are fixed on God.
11:20 The word fixed is a cool word in Hebrew.
11:23 It's the word samach.
11:25 It makes me think like, "Don't make me samach you."
11:29 I'm not, not really. (audience laughing)
11:29 That's not what it makes me think, but it, not at all.
11:32 It means to lean on completely.
11:36 This is what it means.
11:37 It means to lean on completely, to fully rest oneself.
11:40 That's what the word means.
11:42 Think of it this way.
11:43 You'll be kept in perfect peace
11:45 when your mind is leaning on God's truth.
11:50 You'll be kept in perfect peace
11:54 when your thoughts are resting on God's unfailing promises.
11:59 You'll be kept at perfect peace
12:01 when your mind is fixed on the truth,
12:05 the power of God's goodness, His promises for you.
12:10 (audience applauding)
12:12 And so I just wanna ask you,
12:14 and I want you to be dead honest.
12:16 What's your mind fixed on?
12:17 What's your mind fixed on?
12:21 Because oftentimes,
12:22 mind gets fixed on the worst case scenario.
12:25 I don't know what's wrong with me.
12:26 I can have dreams in the middle of the night,
12:27 and I get caught in a bad dream.
12:29 Like, I literally wake up, and I go back to sleep,
12:32 and I'm still stuck in that bad dream.
12:33 It's like my mind gets stuck on these repetitive lies
12:37 and fears, and I get anxious from it.
12:40 What is your mind fixed on?
12:42 And why does it matter?
12:43 Because what consumes your mind controls your life.
12:48 And maybe that's why the apostle Paul said this
12:52 in Philippians 4:8.
12:54 He said this.
12:55 He said, "Fix your thoughts on what is true."
13:00 What does God say is true about you?
13:05 What does God's Word say is true
13:07 about the situation that you face right now?
13:10 Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable,
13:14 and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.
13:19 And almost everything you read,
13:20 and almost everything you hear is the opposite.
13:23 Fix your minds on what you should be afraid of,
13:25 and fix your mind on what could go wrong,
13:26 and fix your mind on what he said and she said,
13:28 and why they should be canceled,
13:30 and why that's wrong, and why this is bad,
13:32 and why our country's going to hell in a handbasket,
13:34 and why that person's wrong, and that preacher did this.
13:37 And Scripture says, "Fix your mind on what is pure,
13:41 "and admirable.
13:43 "Think about things that are excellent,
13:46 "and worthy of praise.
13:47 "And then, when you fix your mind on the things of God,
13:52 "then the God of peace will be with you."
13:58 (congregation applauding)
14:02 Five words that could change your life.
14:06 Jesus says, "My peace I give you."
14:11 He said, "My peace."
14:15 Jesus isn't just giving you a peace,
14:18 he's giving you his peace.
14:20 It is a peace that this world doesn't understand.
14:25 My peace I give you.
14:30 Last week, Pastor Sam preached a good message.
14:35 Pastor Sam, where are you?
14:36 Pastor Sam, Pastor Sam, where are you?
14:37 Pastor Sam, Pastor Sam, Pastor Sam, where are you?
14:39 Good message last week.
14:41 Great job.
14:42 Preach the word.
14:44 Pastor Sam talked about the disciples that were in a boat.
14:49 Remember?
14:51 And a big storm blows up.
14:54 And what do disciples do?
14:56 Same thing we do.
14:57 Freak, freak, freak, freak out.
14:59 Scary, scary, scary, scary, scary.
15:01 Jesus is in a boat, and we're still scared.
15:03 Okay, what's funny about that
15:05 is there's two storms that day.
15:07 There's like the visible storm on the outside,
15:10 and there's the invisible storm on the inside.
15:14 I don't know about you, but it's the storm on the inside
15:17 that hits me the hardest.
15:19 Two storms that day.
15:21 The storm on the inside, the disciples are like going,
15:23 "Jesus, don't you even care?
15:26 "Do you even know what we're going through?"
15:30 That's what we get sometimes, like,
15:31 "Jesus, do you even know what all I've done for you,
15:34 "and you're leaving me out here in this mess?
15:36 "Jesus, where are you?"
15:38 And Jesus gets up, and what does he do?
15:40 What does he say?
15:41 What word does he say to the storm?
15:43 He says what?
15:44 He says, "Peace.
15:47 "Peace.
15:50 "Be still."
15:52 Now, I'm gonna ask you an easy question.
15:54 This is not a trick question.
15:56 When did Jesus say, "Peace"?
15:58 What was going on?
15:59 During the storm.
16:03 During the storm.
16:04 And that just shows us that perfect peace
16:08 does not mean you won't have bad days.
16:11 Perfect peace doesn't mean that Jesus is not still with you
16:16 when things get tough.
16:18 It doesn't mean you won't have troubles.
16:19 It doesn't mean your heart's not gonna get broken.
16:22 It doesn't even mean there are gonna be days
16:25 where you feel like you just don't have
16:27 the physical strength to go on.
16:31 But this is a different kind of peace.
16:33 You see, this kind of peace isn't found
16:37 in the absence of problems,
16:40 but true peace is found in the presence of God.
16:44 It's a different kind of peace.
16:47 This is not a peace that the world gives.
16:51 This is a peace that comes from our Father.
16:55 You will be kept in shalom, shalom, in perfect peace
16:59 when your mind is fixed on Him.
17:02 Okay, confession time.
17:05 So I'm preaching this.
17:06 I even raise my voice sometimes,
17:08 and I might even do hand motions
17:10 because I believe it in here,
17:12 but I don't always live it here.
17:14 Hope that doesn't disappoint you.
17:17 I'm gonna be real honest with you.
17:20 I don't want you to freak out.
17:21 This is nothing new.
17:22 I've been dealing with this my whole life.
17:23 But sometimes I have anxiety,
17:26 and it's a different kind of anxiety.
17:28 It's not worse than yours, it's not different than yours.
17:30 It's just the kind I have.
17:31 And I call it severe content anxiety,
17:36 meaning week after week, year after year,
17:38 decade after decade, I go to God's Word and say,
17:41 "God, what do you want me to say to your people?"
17:43 And it'd be really cool if you'd type it out
17:46 or say it audibly, but I've yet to get Him to do that.
17:50 So as easy as you think it would be,
17:53 the weight of trying to get it right is difficult.
17:58 In 28 years, we're in a six-week message series.
18:01 This is a series.
18:02 This is one series, six messages on the promises of Jesus.
18:06 I have done over 400 different message series
18:11 over the years.
18:12 That is a lot of work.
18:15 And every year I go back to the Bible,
18:17 David always beats Goliath.
18:19 Same thing, every year.
18:21 I'm going back, okay?
18:23 And here's what it is.
18:26 Like, I don't wanna whine too much.
18:28 Just coming up with the topic, the theme of the text
18:32 can be really difficult, really, really difficult.
18:34 Coming up with a series idea,
18:35 and then studying the text and getting deep into it
18:38 and learning 100 times more than I'm gonna share with you,
18:41 and then illustrating it.
18:42 Like, why do you illustrate it?
18:43 'Cause you're really hard to keep paying attention.
18:46 (audience laughing)
18:47 Like, you guys are so easily distracted.
18:49 If I don't do something, every now and then, you're like.
18:51 (audience laughing)
18:54 I'm just saying.
18:55 I'm not out there being silly 'cause I'm silly.
18:59 I'm doing it for you.
19:00 I'm trying to keep you in this thing.
19:01 (audience laughing)
19:02 And so, (laughing)
19:06 Jesus says, "My peace I give you."
19:11 I don't always feel it.
19:14 So I illustrate what happens.
19:16 My flying buddy, Jim, is here with me.
19:19 I started taking flying lessons a few years ago.
19:21 I'll tell you the secret behind it.
19:22 Becoming a pilot, I actually never wanted to be a pilot.
19:25 My son, Steven, was graduating,
19:28 and I wouldn't get enough time with him.
19:29 I said, "Hey, is there anything in the world
19:31 "you'd like to try?"
19:32 He said, "I'd like to try to fly a plane."
19:33 I was like, "Is there anything else you'd like to try?"
19:36 (audience laughing)
19:37 'Cause I don't wanna be wussy,
19:40 but I was afraid of little planes.
19:43 Like, you ever been in one?
19:44 They're bouncy, and the one I was flying
19:47 was almost as old as I was.
19:48 So we get in this little plane,
19:49 and he's flying, he's loving it,
19:51 and it's starting to grow on me,
19:52 but I'm still really afraid.
19:54 So I'm gonna introduce you to one of my first instructors.
19:57 This was TJ.
19:59 TJ flew pipelines, and he has more hours
20:04 than most pilots you'll ever meet.
20:05 He has 21,000 hours of flying time.
20:08 He is one of the most experienced pilots I've ever met.
20:13 And so he's my instructor.
20:14 So we're up there one day in this 49-year-old plane,
20:18 and I'm nervous.
20:19 And I said, "Are you nervous?"
20:21 He goes, "No."
20:22 I said, "What if this engine died right now?"
20:24 He said, "No big deal."
20:26 I said, "What do you mean, no big deal?"
20:29 He said, "We just put it down in the field."
20:31 Like, what's our percentage?
20:34 50/50?
20:35 (audience laughing)
20:37 75%?
20:38 He goes, "No, 100%, like, you're kidding me."
20:41 He said, "Out here where we're flying,
20:43 "100 times out of 100, I put it down in the field.
20:45 "Like, you're serious."
20:46 He goes, "No, 100 times out of 100,
20:48 "I put it down in the field."
20:49 I said, "Okay, TJ, what could I do that would scare you?"
20:54 And he said, "Well, at this altitude, nothing."
20:57 I'm going, "What do you mean?"
20:59 Like, I'm like, "Meh!"
21:00 He goes, "No, you couldn't scare me."
21:01 And then he thought for a minute, he goes,
21:02 "Okay, let me just be real honest."
21:04 He said, "You're considerably bigger and stronger than I am.
21:08 "So if you, like, locked your arms on the yoke
21:10 "and pushed it down and flew as fast as you could
21:13 "toward the ground, I don't know if I'm big enough
21:15 "to break your grip.
21:16 "That would probably scare me."
21:18 And I said, "That's the only thing?"
21:20 He said, "That's the only thing."
21:21 And I thought, "I'm not scared anymore.
21:24 "'Cause I am never, ever, ever
21:26 (audience laughing)
21:30 "gonna do that."
21:31 And his 21,000 hours of experience telling me,
21:37 he's not afraid.
21:40 I did not have a piece, he gave me his piece.
21:46 He gave me his piece.
21:48 But I'm not afraid anymore.
21:49 We can figure this out.
21:52 And back to the content stuff.
21:55 It's a weight that never goes away.
21:59 Sometimes I can't wait to go to heaven,
22:01 like, "Jesus, you preach for the rest of eternity."
22:03 (audience laughing)
22:05 And so what do I do?
22:07 What do I do?
22:08 I do the only thing I know to do,
22:09 which is I actually am working a little less
22:14 and I'm praying a little more
22:16 and I'm fixing my mind on God and I'm trusting God
22:21 and I'm fixing my thoughts on him and I'm trusting him
22:25 and he is giving me his piece.
22:28 But it's not magic.
22:30 It's not like it doesn't just happen.
22:32 It's like, "Oh no, sermon, oh, oh, oh, oh yeah, oh yeah.
22:36 "It's about Jesus, oh yeah, Jesus,
22:38 "I'm fixing my mind on you, oh."
22:40 Your word is powerful.
22:43 And your Holy Spirit does the work.
22:45 And I actually still have to show up
22:47 and he seems to work better when I study.
22:50 And so I'm gonna study and I'm gonna trust him
22:54 and I'm gonna study and I'm gonna trust him even more.
22:57 And you're gonna discover the same thing I'm learning
22:59 is that when we put our problems in Jesus's hands,
23:03 he puts his piece in our hearts.
23:05 He puts his piece in our hearts.
23:09 I don't know who it is, but there's someone here,
23:12 you are tired of pseudo peace.
23:15 You're tired of the peace of this world that does not last.
23:21 And you're ready for a different kind of peace.
23:25 It is shalom, shalom.
23:27 It is the perfect peace of God.
23:30 And Paul described this from a Roman prison
23:34 awaiting possible execution
23:37 when it couldn't get any worse than it was.
23:40 This is what he said.
23:41 "Don't be anxious about anything."
23:45 We can just stop there.
23:47 Whatever it is that's weighing on you.
23:49 God's Word says, "Don't be anxious about that.
23:53 "If it's big enough to worry about,
23:55 "it's big enough to pray about."
23:56 So that's what we're gonna do.
23:58 "Don't be anxious about anything.
24:00 "But in every situation, by prayer and petition
24:04 "with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
24:09 And the what?
24:11 The peace of God, which transcends all understanding
24:16 will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
24:21 When you take what's on your heart and you give it to God,
24:26 there is a peace from heaven.
24:29 Listen to me.
24:31 If you are not a follower of Jesus,
24:33 you don't know this peace,
24:35 because it is a peace from heaven
24:37 which the world will not, cannot understand.
24:41 Somebody here, it's time to fix your thoughts
24:46 on what's true, to tell the devil he's a liar,
24:50 to believe the truth of God, that my God is with me
24:56 and my God is for me.
24:59 And my God is working in every situation
25:02 to bring about good to those who love Him
25:04 and are called according to His purpose.
25:06 That no weapon formed against me will prosper.
25:10 That my God is always good.
25:13 His word is always true.
25:14 His word never, ever fails.
25:16 He will never leave me.
25:17 He will never forsake me.
25:19 No, in all these things, whatever you face,
25:23 we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
25:27 For I am convinced that neither death nor life,
25:30 nor angels nor demons, nor any powers,
25:33 nor height, nor depth, nor anything in all of creation
25:37 will separate me from the love of God,
25:40 which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
25:42 Somebody is gonna put their problems in His hands
25:46 and Jesus will put His peace in your heart.
25:49 He willed you something.
25:51 Jesus willed you something.
25:55 He could have willed you anything.
26:00 Jesus could have said, "My purpose I give to you."
26:03 He could have said, "My passion I give to you."
26:08 He could have said, "My perseverance I give to you."
26:14 But He said five words.
26:16 My peace I give you.
26:22 It is the peace of God, not the world's peace.
26:29 The world can't give it and the world can't take it away.
26:32 It is the peace of God and He gives it to you.
26:37 It's not a peace.
26:39 It's His peace.
26:43 So Father, we need that shalom, shalom.
26:54 We need your peace.
26:59 Today, around the world, online,
27:02 those of you at all of our Life.Church locations,
27:04 I wonder how many of you have a burden
27:07 that's weighing you down,
27:08 has something that's making you anxious,
27:10 has a weight that just won't go away.
27:14 You're worried about someone, you're worried about something,
27:17 you're worried about your health,
27:19 the health of someone you love, bad diagnosis.
27:23 You're worried about finances, you're worried about your kids,
27:25 you're worried about your marriage,
27:27 you're worried about your job,
27:28 you're worried about the economy.
27:30 There's something that's weighing on you.
27:33 If you wanna give that to God today in prayer,
27:35 would you just lift up your hands right now,
27:36 all around the room, just lift it up,
27:38 lift your hands up.
27:39 Leave them up for just a moment online,
27:40 just, you may even be specific.
27:43 You might say, God, I'm trusting you with my child,
27:45 I'm trusting you with my marriage, whatever it is.
27:47 You might just type it in the comment section,
27:49 just with your hands up.
27:50 God, we're lifting our hands up in need
27:53 and we're turning our hands up to you as praise.
27:55 We praise you, God, we praise you.
27:57 God, we present our request to you
28:01 with prayer and petition and thanksgiving,
28:03 because you're good, you're faithful.
28:05 Your word is always true.
28:06 And God, we ask that even when we can't find a peace
28:11 in this world, that there is a peace from heaven
28:14 that would guard our hearts and our minds
28:17 and our souls in Christ Jesus.
28:19 We look to you, we put our trust in you,
28:24 we surrender to you, and we receive peace from you.
28:29 Holy Spirit, just do a work.
28:36 Do a work, work in a way that only you can work.
28:42 God, we put our trust in you.
28:45 As you keep praying today without looking around,
28:49 there are some of you that are going like,
28:50 yeah, I don't think I know that peace.
28:53 And I just wanna tell you right now,
28:54 you haven't done anything wrong not to know it,
28:56 you just don't know the one who gives it yet.
28:58 You just don't.
29:00 If we sit down and I kinda ask you like,
29:05 do you know where you stand with God?
29:06 If you hesitate for a moment,
29:08 if you say, I'm not really sure,
29:11 let me just tell you right now,
29:11 that the diagnosis is probably not good.
29:14 Because when you truly know him,
29:17 you know who he is, his character, his goodness,
29:19 when you know his grace,
29:20 when you know how much he loves you
29:24 and you know what he's done for you
29:25 and you've received that gift,
29:28 your only reasonable response is you give me your whole life
29:31 and you recognize I belong to him.
29:33 I actually, Jesus did will something to me.
29:36 He willed me his peace and he gave me eternal life.
29:41 Why is it that we wonder about where we stand with God?
29:45 Why is it that we worry?
29:46 Reason is because we've all done stuff wrong.
29:50 We're ashamed of it, we're embarrassed by it.
29:53 The word that's used in the Bible
29:54 is the Bible calls it sin.
29:57 It's a word that means missing the mark.
29:59 You didn't hit God's standard and we've all sinned,
30:01 scripture says.
30:03 We feel bad about it.
30:03 Why do we feel bad?
30:04 Because we've done something that we know
30:05 in our hearts is against God.
30:07 So what do we do?
30:08 A lot of times we try to make it up,
30:10 try to do better and not be bad,
30:12 but we continue to do wrong.
30:14 The problem is we can never be good enough on our own.
30:17 And this is where the goodness of God comes in.
30:20 Scripture says, "For God so loved the world,"
30:23 God so loved you,
30:25 "that he sent his one and only Son, Jesus,"
30:29 the Son of God, "who gave his life."
30:31 God raised him from the dead.
30:34 Whoever believes in him, whoever trusts him,
30:38 your sins would be forgiven and you would be made brand new.
30:40 Today, there are those of you, you're watching, you're here,
30:43 and it is not an accident.
30:45 You're here because God brought you here
30:47 and because he loves you
30:49 and because he wants to forgive you
30:52 and he wants you to know him
30:54 and he wants to give you a peace
30:55 that this world could never even explain.
30:58 Some of you, you know that's you.
31:00 You know it's you.
31:01 You're a little bit nervous right now, that's you.
31:04 Your heart's beating fast, that's you.
31:06 If you're wondering where you stand, that's you.
31:07 And the great news is you're here 'cause God loves you
31:11 and it's your day to say yes to Jesus.
31:12 What are we gonna do?
31:13 We're gonna step away from our old life,
31:15 we're gonna step away from our sin,
31:16 and we're gonna say yes.
31:17 If someone loves us that much to give his only son,
31:20 the perfect one died in our place so we could be forgiven,
31:23 hey, we're following that guy.
31:24 We're giving our life to him.
31:26 From now on, we wanna be like him.
31:27 Those of you today, wherever you are, you say,
31:29 I know I'm broken, I know I've sinned,
31:31 I know I've fallen short.
31:32 I wanna get out of that.
31:33 I want his peace, I want his forgiveness.
31:35 Today, by faith, I trust into him.
31:38 I'm giving my life to Jesus.
31:39 That's your prayer.
31:40 Lift your hands high right now, all over the place.
31:42 Say yes, God bless both of you here.
31:44 And right here, praise God for you.
31:45 Others of you today, say yes.
31:47 Right back over here, right over here, Jesus,
31:49 I surrender to you.
31:50 Right back, oh, come on, church, let's give God some praise.
31:53 Right back over here, say yes, Jesus.
31:55 I surrender to you, I trust you, I give you my life.
31:58 Others of you today, say yes, I surrender.
32:01 Online, just type in the comment section,
32:03 I am surrendering my life to Jesus.
32:06 Just type that in the comment section.
32:08 Then what we're gonna do is we're all gonna pray aloud.
32:11 Would you pray together?
32:12 Nobody prays alone.
32:13 Pray, Heavenly Father.
32:14 Heavenly Father.
32:15 Please forgive me.
32:17 Please forgive me.
32:18 All of my sins.
32:19 All of my sins.
32:20 And thank you for Jesus.
32:22 And thank you for Jesus.
32:23 His grace, His forgiveness, His perfect work.
32:27 I trust Him to save me.
32:32 Fill me with your Spirit.
32:33 Fill me with your Spirit.
32:34 So I could know you.
32:35 So I could know you.
32:36 And serve you.
32:37 And serve you.
32:37 For the rest of my life.
32:39 My life is not my own.
32:42 I give it to you.
32:43 In Jesus name I pray.
32:45 Can somebody celebrate?
32:46 Somebody worship?
32:47 Welcome those born into God's family.
