00:00Smoke and fire were first spotted among the scaffolding around 6.30 p.m.
00:07Clouds of ash quickly spread across the City of Lights.
00:15My first reaction was, it's impossible, it can't be burning.
00:19For me, the cathedral is a grand old lady.
00:22It's such a magnificent, such an emblematic monument of our history
00:27that it could never be in such danger.
00:30This work really is a prowess.
00:42Notre-Dame has become a magnet that attracts tourists from all over the world
00:47as soon as they arrive in Paris.
01:01As practically all France, and even much further, I am immensely sad.
01:09I hope that we will be able to save this absolute masterpiece of humankind.
01:22This fire has shown that not only the French, the Parisians, the Catholics,
01:29but the entire world was watching Notre-Dame.
01:34And this may very well be a miracle.
