A complex beneath the sea. 250 men, women and children live here, each of them a scientist pioneer. For this is our last frontier, a hostile environment which may hold the key to tomorrow.

01:09 [Voix-off] Our weather report is bad news. We're in an Arctic storm that is building steadily. We're showing a Force 8 blizzard. They are having a wild storm. A Force 8 is about as rough as it gets. Keep us advised, Research 3. Everything's icing up, Clark. Temperature's dropping fast. The sea is building and pounding the ice cap. We're getting a lot of ice movement and break-up. The wind gauge has stopped. Iced up. We're frozen in. Dolphin, do you still read us? Go ahead. You're still coming through. Give me a mic, Hal.

01:39 [Voix-off] The building is self-sufficient with food, air and fuel. Enough to last out any normal freeze-up.
