00:00Rick and Morty has seen its fair share of star cameos since it first debuted in 2013.
00:05With almost every guest appearance, there comes a price for the creators of the show.
00:09Whether it's a weird request for the cosmetics of the character, or the demand for the absence of nudity,
00:14these celebs really pushed the boat out when it came to their contractual agreements and the final outcome that we got to see.
00:20And so, with that in mind then, I'm Ellie with WhatCulture, here with 8 Unusual Demands Made by Guest Stars on Rick and Morty.
00:278. David Cross Was Uncomfortable With Nudity
00:31Episode 4 of the first season, M. Night Shyamalian, saw Arrested Development actor David Cross featuring in a cameo role.
00:39In the episode, he plays one of Rick's self-proclaimed enemies, Prince Nebulon,
00:43and leads a race of aliens with a very particular phobia that some fans of the actor may recognize.
00:48Known for playing a man uncomfortable with nudity while on Arrested Development,
00:52Cross suggested to the writers of the show that they should incorporate this little easter egg into the show to tie some of his work together.
00:58Not only is this a genius comedic move, but it's also nice that the show agreed to pay homage to the series that really helped the actor take off.
01:05His role as the Prince of the Zygerians is hilarious, and the storyline of the episode is vastly improved by his hatred of nudity,
01:12yet obsession with finding Rick's concentrated dark matter so that he can tend to the discoloration of his butthole flaps.
01:18Yes, the episode is fairly chaotic and vulgar, but what else do you expect from the show?
01:237. Alfred Molina wanted to continue his evil streak
01:28Known for his role as Doc Ock in the Spider-Man film series, as well as his role as Multi-Bear
01:33in the hit animation series Gravity Falls, Alfred Molina is not afraid of being the bad guy.
01:38It turns out he actually quite likes it.
01:40In Season 1, we are introduced to Summer's boss at the shop Needful Things.
01:44Known as the Devil, Mr. Lucius Needful takes pleasure in gifting unsuspecting customers with
01:49objects designed to make their lives as good as hell.
01:51Played perfectly by Molina, this character has no sympathetic bone in his body.
01:56For example, his impotency-inducing shaving cream went down a treat when
02:00bought for finding a potential female mate.
02:02Despite all this, he treats his staff member Summer with respect and prioritises
02:06running a successful business by whatever means necessary.
02:09As Molina is known for his evil roles, this cameo was perfect for the actor,
02:13and he accepted the opportunity to add another villainous feather to his evil top hat.
02:17The episode is one giant comment on the big business superpowers running the world of technology,
02:22making multiple harsh remarks to Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg and their questionable histories.
02:28Number 6. Alex Hirsch wanted to see what it's like on enemy turf
02:33Known for his creation of hit Disney XD animation series Gravity Falls,
02:37it's only fitting that Alex Hirsch was given a role on the show.
02:40Hirsch and the creator of Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland, are best mates,
02:44so it was about time Roiland listened to Hirsch's demands and gave him a spot on the show.
02:48His character is known as Toby Matthews,
02:50a very regular American schoolboy who Summer has a fat crush on.
02:53The episode is titled Big Trouble in Little Sanchez,
02:56and follows the story of how Tiny Rick befriends
02:59Toby and then manages to get him to ask Summer to throw a party at her house.
03:03As the night comes to an end, Tiny Rick turns everyone against Summer
03:06and ultimately cockblocks her chances of getting with Toby.
03:09The blonde-haired, goateed teen is mostly modelled off the appearance of his voice actor,
03:13and you can tell the two friends had fun with this character behind the scenes.
03:16Toby's role is short-lived as he is abducted by the Galactic Federation,
03:20who then use his brain to create a short film.
03:23Number 5. Susan Sarandon wanted to return to sci-fi
03:27Perhaps one of the bigger celebrity stars to feature on the show,
03:31Susan Sarandon joined Rick and Morty as Dr. Wong, the family therapist.
03:35It's not the most glamorous of roles, but her character will forever be known as
03:38the only person to have ever outsmarted the might of Rick.
03:42In recent years, Sarandon normally assumes the plain Jane motherly role in movies such as Tammy,
03:47or her latest venture, Ride the Eagle. But Susan's career started off in the world of
03:52weird and wacky sci-fi with the well-known film The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
03:56So when Sarandon was offered a role on the show, she was more than happy to return.
04:00Lucky for her, the request for some wacky sci-fi was taken on board.
04:03Dr. Wong was featured on one of the most well-known episodes of Rick and Morty,
04:07in which the iconic Pickle Rick makes his debut appearance.
04:11It doesn't get any better than that for a guest cameo.
04:13Sarandon goes on to feature a few more times in the series,
04:16and every time she delivers a brilliant performance.
04:19Somehow her voice is so well-suited to the calm and slightly condescending therapist.
04:244. Logic wanted to be Logic
04:28What better way to boost your rap career than by appearing on a hit TV series as yourself?
04:32This was an incredibly smart career move for Logic,
04:35and also produced some pretty hilarious content for Rick and Morty.
04:39After expressing his appreciation for the show, Sir Robert Bryson Hall II,
04:43or Logic, requested to be featured in one of their episodes,
04:46and even managed to get a bit of rap in there.
04:48The animation captured the rapper's features and clothing style perfectly,
04:51and aired when Logic was at the height of his career.
04:54His song 1-800 had just been released,
04:56and it seems that he didn't really capitalise on the newfound fame after that.
05:00Maybe he was always just in it for the cameo opportunity.
05:03Who knows?
05:04Despite the short appearance at the very end of the episode,
05:07the rapper's cameo during the Noob Noob party was pretty hilarious,
05:10and his song was kinda catchy too.
05:12It would have been nice to have seen some more from the character in the show,
05:15but Rick had unfortunately only drunkenly booked him for one night.
05:193. Danny Trejo wanted to keep his bad boy persona
05:24Susan Sarandon wasn't the only lucky celeb to feature on the iconic Pickle Rick episode.
05:29Another star to make his debut on Rick and Morty is a well-known hard-ass Danny Trejo.
05:33In the series, he voices the character Jaguar.
05:36Jaguar is a typical MO for Trejo, as he is a criminal who has been kept in prison.
05:40This bad boy character has a soft side to him,
05:42and actually happens to be close friends with Rick.
05:45When he's not playing the head of a cartel runner in Breaking Bad,
05:48Trejo is usually playing a slightly comedic role, featuring on shows such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
05:53This role was far more unusual for the actor,
05:55and the writers of the show were happy to accept his request of keeping up the badass persona.
05:59The character has the perfect Trejo balance of villain and softie.
06:03In the episode, Jaguar takes a similar appearance to his voice actor,
06:06and is a serious threat to Pickle Rick.
06:08In exchange for the release of his daughter,
06:10the assassin accepts the mission of killing Pickle Rick.
06:12The whole drama ends with two besties and a dangerous team,
06:15who ultimately take down the puppeteers behind the whole scheme and free his daughter.
06:202. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele came as a pair
06:25Have you ever seen these two in separate rooms?
06:27Joined at the hip, comedians and actors Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele
06:31are featured in the first episode of Season 2, A Wrickle in Time.
06:35The episode follows a complex story in which Rick unfreezes time,
06:38only to discover that three alternative realities have been created.
06:42Their characters, fourth-dimension time cops by the name of Schlemerpants,
06:46appear and scold Rick for his shoddy timekeeping work,
06:48and proceeds to inform Summer, Rick, and Morty that they will be placed in time prison for eternity.
06:54In response, Rick attacks Schlemerpants and kills his gun Chris,
06:57and proceeds to shatter time even further,
06:59multiplying the number of alternate dimensions on the screen.
07:02There is so much to unpack about this episode,
07:04but one of the real highlights is the cameo done by Key and Peele as they appear as time cops,
07:08and seem to have a lot of fun being the angry red vascular testicle monsters that they are.
07:13Good luck keeping up with this episode,
07:14as there are quite a few dimensions to go through before you get to the end.
07:181. Elon Musk wanted tusks
07:22Now this one is perhaps one of the weirder requests for the show.
07:25Elon Musk is known for being a fan of all things sci-fi,
07:28with Rick and Morty being no exception.
07:30The billionaire businessman loves to poke fun at himself,
07:33and does so quite effectively with his cameo as Elon Tusk, the wonder of Tuskler.
07:38What would you do if a famous billionaire got your contact details
07:40and requested that you feature him on the show, but with tusks?
07:43Another smart business move for the show, they agreed,
07:46and thus the comedic gold that is Elon Tusk was born.
07:49The character is pretty much the same as the real deal,
07:51besides the obvious orthodontal differences.
07:54Money can buy you anything,
07:55even a cameo on your favourite wacky animation series.
07:59Elon could buy Rick and Morty if he wanted to.
08:02Instead, he very politely asked to be featured on the show,
08:05with a name change and two elongated front teeth protruding from his mouth.
08:09I mean, if you were given the opportunity to feature on the show,
08:12what would you want to look like?
08:13And that concludes our list.
