00:10 Welcome to the Himley House.
00:13 [Sound of train horn]
00:15 Andrew, how are you sir?
00:18 I'm very good, thank you.
00:19 The reopening of Himley House and you're at the helm.
00:22 I am. Exciting times.
00:24 Cool. You've worked at a few pubs local. The Miller and Carter was it?
00:29 Yes, started at the Miller and Carter. Feels like forever ago now.
00:33 I've done the local pubs, Vintage Inns, well the Vine in Wombat.
00:37 And all my kind of career I've wanted to be here to be honest.
00:43 It's a fantastic building isn't it?
00:45 It is.
00:46 I mean just having a little look through it, it looks gorgeous.
00:49 Phenomenal.
00:50 So what can people expect from Himley House now and its new guys who haven't been here before
00:56 or came here in its previous days?
00:58 Yeah, of course we've renovated the whole building. It's a listed building.
01:02 High ceilings, amazing, amazing landscape.
01:05 We've got 21 luxury bedrooms.
01:07 We've got a meeting and event space that we can do weddings and functions for as well.
01:12 We've got 120 covers inside which is full table service.
01:16 We've completely re-landscaped the whole building.
01:19 Outside we've got 200 seats.
01:21 We've got undercover patio heaters which is also bookable space as well.
01:25 So people can hire that space for birthdays or private functions and stuff?
01:28 Yeah, we've allowed the covered seated area to be booked online as well.
01:34 And there's some nice log fires going?
01:37 Yeah, four real wood fires.
01:39 Four?
01:40 Yeah, we've added two additional fires into the place so when the winter strikes it really does come into its own.
01:47 And you're up and running now then aren't you? Open to the public from today?
01:51 From Monday.
01:52 From Monday?
01:53 Yeah, so from Monday we're doing some kind of dry runs of family, friends, VIP invites etc.
01:58 Just want to show people the beautiful building.
02:00 Yeah, so word on the street, get yourself down to Himley House.
02:04 Cheers buddy, good luck.
02:06 So who've we got here guys, what are your names?
02:08 I'm Cara and I've worked here at the Himley for 12 years now.
02:11 I'm Neil and I've worked here 19 years in August.
02:14 Oh wow, so a good few years between the two of you isn't it?
02:17 Yeah.
02:18 So what do you think of it guys? I mean it must be very exciting for you.
02:21 It's amazing.
02:22 It's unbelievable, the transformation has been fantastic.
02:25 Yeah, it really has.
02:26 Something we all don't think either of us expected.
02:28 No, we've been promising for a long time and it's finally coming to fruition.
02:32 Well yeah, because it's a big building isn't it, so to do a makeover on this it takes a lot of cash behind it doesn't it?
02:37 It does, they're really invested and they've invested really well as well.
02:40 Yeah.
02:41 Definitely.
02:42 And Cara you were saying you almost feel a bit emotional today weren't you?
02:45 Well I'm very emotional today because like Neil said we have been waiting for it for a long time.
02:49 When I first started here it kind of saved my life.
02:52 Yeah?
02:53 That's how it felt because I became a single mum at the same time.
02:56 Oh okay.
02:57 So I've got quite a connection. I've tried to leave once and it didn't last, I was back again.
03:00 I love it too much.
03:02 Yeah, well it does doesn't it because these kind of places you know it's about relationships isn't it and with customers and staff.
03:08 And it does become like another home away from home doesn't it you know.
03:12 It's at the heart isn't it, I think that's how we feel, it really is part of our hearts as well.
03:16 Yeah, it's been due its status as the queen of a Dudley pub restaurant again and I think it's getting back there isn't it.
03:23 Yeah, 100% yeah.
03:24 Cool.
