00:02 - We'll stick in the South and head over to Mississippi
00:08 where as we've mentioned many times before here on the show
00:11 sports betting is legal in person at the casinos.
00:15 The mobile aspect is not,
00:17 but are we moving closer to that becoming a reality?
00:21 - Yeah, you know, this is kind of a recurring theme today.
00:25 Obviously we're down in the Southeast
00:26 and we're States that have sort of
00:31 seem to have clear pathways
00:32 and then kind of running into issues.
00:34 Coming into the session,
00:38 industry sources were very optimistic
00:40 that Mississippi would just kind of go over the side
00:42 because like you said,
00:44 retail sports betting has been legal in Mississippi
00:47 since 2018.
00:48 So this is one of the first States period to legalize
00:51 and they just didn't decide to do online sports betting.
00:55 Well, this year, you know,
00:57 we had the house send forward a bill that
01:00 legalized online sports betting.
01:04 Well, the Senate stripped that and then sent it back.
01:08 So it's kind of the same issue
01:10 where they've left it as is in their language.
01:13 The house has their language.
01:15 Now they have to meet again on conference committee.
01:18 So they're gonna meet, I've been told probably next week
01:21 to again, iron out the differences.
01:23 So there's really basically the online
01:25 versus the not online difference.
01:27 And so where does this lead?
01:28 We're not sure, we'll find out next week
01:30 while we're watching it.
01:31 These States are again, hard to get this passed
01:36 because as we know, there's party opposition
01:40 on both sides of the aisle.
01:41 So you need the bipartisan support
01:43 and that's where you get into these troubling times
01:46 of how do we get this over the line.
