00:00 - Your instructions early.
00:01 As a reminder, obey my commands at all times.
00:03 Protect yourself at all times.
00:04 Touch gloves. Good luck.
00:05 - This should be fun, guys.
00:13 This should be fun.
00:15 Reyjean "Picasso" Chance versus Trayvon Lawson.
00:18 Undefeated, both top prospects.
00:21 Joe DeGuardia puts together some great cards,
00:24 but this is one of the really, really special fights,
00:28 I think for him, really high on Reyjean Chance.
00:32 Undefeated fighter, top prospect.
00:34 He was on a couple of USA teams.
00:36 You know, great pedigree for this young man.
00:39 And he's a hot young star,
00:42 hot young prospect coming up the ranks.
00:44 But then on the other end, you know,
00:45 you got Lawson.
00:46 Undefeated record as well.
00:49 You know, he's had some really big wins,
00:52 really big puncture,
00:54 and he does a lot with his movements,
00:56 and he's got some really good stuff.
00:58 Spoke to him and his trainers earlier,
01:00 and they're excited about the opportunity.
01:03 And here we go.
01:05 It's been really highly anticipated, Kerm.
01:08 - Nick, this is the fight I had circled
01:10 when I saw this bout sheet.
01:11 Two young, undefeated fighters,
01:12 and you mentioned Trayvon Lawson is motivated.
01:15 So is Reyjean Chance,
01:16 and Reyjean Chance actually was in camp
01:18 with Bud Crawford and Shakur Stevenson.
01:21 So he's been learning from some of the best fighters
01:23 in the sport.
01:24 - Yeah.
01:25 And all hats off to Trayvon Lawson as well
01:28 because he started boxing when he was 26 years old.
01:31 I mean, just, you know, he's 34.
01:34 He got a little leap jump.
01:35 He don't look 34, that's for sure.
01:37 But he's a real solid guy,
01:38 and, you know, he knows,
01:40 he was speaking to him earlier,
01:41 he knows he has a lot to learn.
01:43 And he's up against one of the really better USA prospects
01:47 and a guy that has done really good in the amateur ranks
01:50 in Reyjean Chance,
01:52 and I know DuBois is pretty high on him.
01:54 (crowd cheering)
01:56 - And Nick, you mentioned that we spoke to both fighters
02:05 before the fight.
02:06 Reyjean Chance,
02:07 we haven't seen him since last year on Star Boxing.
02:10 We said, "Hey, what's going on?"
02:12 We wanted to see in the ring.
02:12 He had a few fights that fell through.
02:14 He also was dealing with an injury
02:16 after working hard with Bud Crawford and Shakur Stevenson.
02:19 He wanted to be back in the ring.
02:21 So he's extra eager tonight.
02:23 - Yeah, and he wants, you know,
02:25 like you were saying earlier,
02:26 I mean, he wants to fight the better guys
02:28 and get a fast, you know, fast track,
02:30 and like you said,
02:32 to just going in against the best.
02:34 And I really, you know what?
02:35 Some guys need to be coddled,
02:37 and they need to be, you know, kind of groomed,
02:41 and you have to get your fights in,
02:42 you have to do the progression, four, six, eight.
02:45 Some guys, after seven, eight, nine fights,
02:48 they've had a really extensive amateur career,
02:49 and they're ready.
02:50 They're ready to go.
02:51 And, you know, you like to see that too,
02:53 because, you know, obviously, you know,
02:55 it's an investment with these guys, you know,
02:57 it's an investment from the promoter.
02:58 It's an investment with the family.
03:00 It's an investment with the managers
03:02 and everybody that deals to help promote
03:04 and support these guys as part of their team.
03:07 So you want to make sure you take the steps,
03:09 you know, to take the right steps, I should say.
03:11 But as we come to the end of the first round.
03:14 - It was a really tactical first round,
03:20 but both guys were really motivated,
03:22 and not only in their offense, but in their defense.
03:24 And it seemed like a very close first round there, Nick.
03:27 - Yeah, no, it was very close.
03:28 It was hard to call, and, but that just goes to show you
03:31 the level of respect each one of them have for one another.
03:34 You know, it's like a chess match out there,
03:37 and they're gonna go out there,
03:38 and they're gonna try to, you know,
03:39 outmaneuver and outsmart one another.
03:41 And the first, you know, round sometimes
03:43 is that opportunity to feel a guy out,
03:46 maybe his tendencies, is he dipping to the left,
03:49 is he moving his hand, is he dropping his hand
03:51 when he throws a jab?
03:53 You know, those little things, and those intricacies,
03:55 you know, you learn about, you know, sometimes,
03:57 it's not all happens on film, you know,
03:59 sometimes you have to get out there and touch somebody,
04:01 and see him in front of you to do that.
04:04 And a lot of times that happens
04:06 in the first couple rounds of a fight.
04:08 But I think this fight is gonna get progressively,
04:11 progressively more exciting.
04:12 - We're just heating up here in our co-main event.
04:15 It's an eight round super bantamweight feature.
04:18 This is Slugfest at the Sun.
04:20 We are at Mohegan Sun Theater.
04:22 Curran Batia on the call,
04:23 joined by All-American Nick Garone.
04:25 Trayvon Lawson is in the black and white trunks
04:31 with the sparkle there.
04:34 - Nice straight right.
04:36 - Raejean Chien's in the black and white.
04:39 - Nice hard straight right earlier.
04:44 Sorry I stepped on you there, Curran.
04:47 But, you know, Lawson took one, but gave one also.
04:52 So they both had some pretty good shots there
04:58 by both fighters.
04:59 Nice little sneaky right hand.
05:01 - Both fighters get tied up there.
05:04 Clearly that's gonna be a push or a slip there.
05:08 - Yeah, that definitely wasn't a knockdown.
05:09 But did you see the face on Chance?
05:12 Like, yo, what are you doing?
05:14 Throwing me on the ground like that.
05:17 - And it really has been a hit and don't get hit fight, Nick.
05:20 Both of these guys are landing
05:21 and then getting out of the way.
05:23 - You know, listen, both of them have power.
05:26 For their weight, they have a lot of power.
05:28 And you know what?
05:29 You sleep on one of them and you're going to sleep.
05:31 - And the highlight we saw in round one
05:39 was the left hook that got through for Lawson.
05:42 There haven't been that many consequential punches.
05:45 That was one of them.
05:46 - I think if Chance can keep, oh nice, nice shot.
06:04 By Chance, I think if Chance could keep Lawson
06:09 on the end of his jab, you know.
06:11 You see that little veteran move,
06:12 he just kind of pulled his elbow out, you know,
06:14 kind of tweaked his little elbow.
06:16 And you got to be careful with that.
06:18 That could hurt somebody.
06:20 - Elbows can be dangerous, just ask Tim Zhu.
06:26 - Yeah, it's a serious injury, you know.
06:28 - You heard Chance there talking to his corner,
06:35 saying, "I got you."
06:35 So he's listening to their instructions.
06:37 And that shows a lot of awareness in the ring,
06:39 to see, you know, speaking to your corner.
06:41 (crowd cheering)
06:44 - Lightning quick punches by Chance.
06:52 And then he gets back into position,
06:55 out of range from Lawson.
06:56 - Oh, he was waiting, he timed him on that,
07:09 and just missed.
07:10 (crowd cheering)
07:13 - Nick, I wanted to ask you a question.
07:22 You mentioned when Lawson started boxing,
07:24 and it was a little bit later.
07:25 Raijan Chance had started boxing at age seven.
07:29 And so I think there's just a muscle memory
07:31 that gets developed when you start boxing
07:33 at such a young age.
07:34 And it's hard to overcome that, right?
07:36 If you start later in life, yes,
07:37 you can definitely have success in boxing.
07:39 A lot of fighters have done that.
07:40 But starting at age seven is a huge advantage.
07:43 - No, it definitely is.
07:44 You know what?
07:45 It's a catch 22 sometimes.
07:46 It's all relevant, in my opinion, it's all relevant.
07:49 Some kids, they start out at seven years old,
07:52 they're winning all these amateur tournaments,
07:53 and everybody sneaks their soups up,
07:54 and then they burn out, they don't do anything.
07:56 They fizzle out.
07:57 Some people start later, and they still have that hunger.
08:00 They still have those goals to achieve,
08:04 you know, so you work harder.
08:05 And guys that are athletes, you know,
08:06 I was speaking to the trainers in Dresden with Lawson.
08:11 He was an all-around superstar with different sports,
08:14 basketball, football.
08:16 He was a really solid athlete.
08:18 So, you know, he's taken to this.
08:20 So, you know, it is, it goes both ways.
08:22 But, you know, if you start early, you could be better.
08:25 But, you know, maybe if you start later, it's better.
08:28 You know, like everybody's different is my point.
08:31 - Round three underway of our eight round
08:34 super bantamweight feature.
08:36 Our co-main event here at Mohegan Sun Arena.
08:39 - Nice body shots by Lawson.
08:45 - And you mentioned the body work.
08:54 It's also, should also pay notice to Chance's tight defense.
08:59 And he's not giving Lawson too many openings.
09:02 (crowd chattering)
09:05 And vice versa, you know, Lawson is very, very good
09:13 in his defense, got his hands up,
09:14 really in good position at all times.
09:16 Doesn't get off balance much, you know, doesn't take.
09:19 - It's a very tactical fight so far.
09:29 It's like a high-speed chess match.
09:31 Nice footwork by Chance.
09:34 Picasso.
09:39 - He said Picasso because he's an artist in the ring.
09:44 He likes to do unorthodox things on occasion.
09:47 And we saw that there.
09:48 Had success with the right hand and then followed it up
09:50 with some fancy footwork.
09:51 - Ray-John, Ray-John.
09:54 - Ray-John, Picasso, Chance. - Is that how you say it?
09:56 Ray-John, Ray-John.
09:57 Ray-John, Picasso, Chance.
10:00 (crowd chattering)
10:03 - Chance is trained with Shakur Stephenson,
10:05 Budden Crawford, as we mentioned.
10:06 Also trained alongside Teofimo Lopez.
10:09 So he's surrounding himself with greatness,
10:11 learning not just by physically sparring with these guys,
10:13 training with these guys, but just through osmosis
10:15 with some of these champions.
10:17 - No, definitely, you know, it's a great point.
10:19 You know, the more you're around greatness
10:21 and the more you're around very, very solid,
10:24 technically sound people, you know, that rubs off.
10:28 And that's a great point you brought up there, Curran.
10:31 - And it's been hard for either guy
10:35 to land a consequential shot.
10:38 It seemed like a moment ago Lawson did land that right hand
10:40 that got through the guard.
10:42 But you notice the head movement there of both men,
10:45 but specifically Chance here.
10:47 They're not giving each man a stationary target.
10:49 And we spoke about Picasso, Chance,
10:57 the artist in the ring.
10:58 You saw an unorthodox looping right hand
11:01 and then followed up by almost a straight right hand there.
11:05 Definitely an interesting combination,
11:07 one you don't see traditionally in boxing.
11:09 And that is what Chance brings to the ring.
11:25 - End of round three here.
11:27 In our eight round, super bantamweight co-main event,
11:34 two young, hungry, undefeated fighters, both highly rated.
11:39 And let's take a look at some of the replays, Nick,
11:40 of the previous round.
11:43 - Well, here, you know, Lawson gets in that sneaky left
11:48 to the body right there, you know,
11:49 and look, you know, and he is landing some punches,
11:52 but Chance is so elusive
11:54 and he's a guy that has so much movement in there
11:57 that you never really catch him with anything clean.
12:00 - Absolutely, it's a testament to the movement
12:05 that both men have, but specifically Chance.
12:07 And I mentioned, he has that unorthodox style.
12:09 So it's not something you can necessarily train for.
12:12 So even though Lawson is undefeated,
12:13 even though he's having success,
12:14 it's hard to train for Picasso Chance.
12:16 - Oh, it definitely is,
12:17 because he's coming from every, you know,
12:19 all different angles.
12:20 He's throwing things differently at you.
12:22 He's moving, he's got great footwork.
12:24 You know, it's hard to train,
12:25 it's hard to fight a guy like him.
12:27 That's why he could, he could really,
12:28 once he gets his record a little up there
12:30 and he has a little bit more, you know, some quality wins,
12:34 and that's not to say he's gonna beat Lawson tonight,
12:36 but I'm saying he's the type of guy
12:38 that would give some people trouble down the line.
12:40 - No, certainly, Rage on Chance, only 23 years old.
12:43 So he's got a long future ahead in this sport,
12:45 especially if he keeps surrounding himself
12:47 by these champions.
12:53 - Check that, 24 years old.
12:53 - No, no, no, no, Lawson's 34.
12:56 - Oh, 34, so the age difference.
12:58 Yeah, it's a great point, Nick.
13:00 But you wouldn't think that looking at
13:01 both of these men's movement in the ring, right?
13:03 Both sharp, both have a lot of movement here.
13:05 - Yeah, you can tell they work hard, they train hard.
13:08 That was a nice, that was a nice shot by Rage on.
13:11 It caught him coming in.
13:12 Didn't catch him all the way clean,
13:14 but kind of, you know, woke him up and let him know,
13:16 "Hey, you remember me?
13:18 "I'm across from you, I'm ready to take you out, man."
13:22 (crowd murmuring)
13:25 - It's like Lawson's getting a little frustrated,
13:33 trying to break the defenses of Chance.
13:35 And in that tie up right there,
13:38 you can see it look like a little frustration coming out.
13:41 - And it's hard to blame him.
13:45 I mean, Rage on Chance is so elusive in there,
13:49 the head movement, the foot movement.
13:51 And right there, lands the one-two
13:52 and then is out of the way.
13:53 It's such a difficult fighter to,
13:56 you can't just plant and throw a power shot against.
13:59 - No.
14:00 That's a nice right hand right there.
14:04 It's a really nice right hand by Lawson,
14:05 but Chance shakes it off, says,
14:07 "Nah, you didn't get me, not yet, brother."
14:09 (chuckles)
14:20 - There you go, keep going.
14:22 - And moments ago there,
14:27 you saw something that might be Lawson's path
14:30 to some success.
14:31 It's hard to hit the moving target,
14:33 but he fainted upstairs and then went with a right hand
14:35 straight to the body.
14:36 He was able to get through.
14:37 So if he wants to slow down Picasso Chance,
14:40 maybe it is going to that body attack.
14:49 - Right, right.
14:50 - Right hand and left hand by Lawson to the body,
14:59 continuing on that body assault.
15:02 Picasso Chance there lands a quick right hand
15:08 to the body himself.
15:09 This time, right hand to the body
15:12 and then left hooked upstairs by Chance.
15:14 - Nice, nice response by Chance
15:17 with a left hook to the body and back to the head.
15:21 Lawson throws hard punches.
15:24 He's a hard puncher and he's very dangerous.
15:26 You know, that's the MO on him.
15:28 - Absolutely, he's known as a hard puncher
15:31 for this weight class.
15:33 Nick, one thing I wanted to ask you about,
15:35 we mentioned Chance,
15:36 we last saw him a year ago on Starbucks,
15:38 but Lawson, the last time he fought as a professional
15:41 was in February of 2021.
15:43 So certainly that's also gonna make a difference
15:46 because there's a little bit of rust there.
15:47 You're getting back into the swing of things
15:49 of fighting on a professional stage.
15:50 We're here in Mohegan Sun Arena.
15:53 The fans are piling in here.
15:54 That activity is certainly gonna be an advantage
15:58 for Ray John Chance tonight.
16:00 - No, without a doubt.
16:01 And that does help quite a bit for Lawson.
16:05 I give a lot of credit for him to come in
16:08 and take this fight after such a layoff,
16:11 being undefeated.
16:12 Usually guys, when you're off that long,
16:14 I really gotta give them a lot of credit.
16:16 When you're off that long, you wanna come back
16:18 and you wanna get a win or you wanna get,
16:19 I shouldn't say get a win,
16:20 like it's easy to just win and beat everybody,
16:22 but you wanna at least get into a fight
16:25 that you potentially, that you on paper should win
16:28 and just get back off, knock off some rust
16:30 and get back in the mix.
16:31 No, but Lawson comes back and goes in
16:33 against one of the top prospects out there in Chance.
16:37 And you gotta give him a lot of credit for that.
16:39 And he's holding his own.
16:40 You know, I definitely have Chance winning the fight,
16:45 but Lawson is giving a good account of himself,
16:48 really good account of himself.
16:50 - Certainly, it's a competitive fight.
16:53 It almost seems like Chance is careful
16:57 and then when he needs to add an extra attack
16:59 because he took a couple of body shots, he does that.
17:01 So it seems like there's a couple different gears
17:03 for Chance to go.
17:04 - Yeah.
17:06 - And we see more body work there from Chance.
17:14 And it does feel like both men are having a hard time
17:17 finding the head.
17:18 So they're both going to the body.
17:19 That's probably a good move.
17:20 - Oh, that's a nice one-two right there.
17:22 Little hook into an uppercut.
17:25 Really nicely done by Lawson.
17:27 (fighters grunting)
17:30 - Nice body shot and nice cross right by Chance.
17:50 And this is getting a little interesting right here.
17:52 Getting a little more exciting as we go.
17:54 I want to see the fireworks that I was promised,
17:57 but let me tell you something.
17:58 They're landing some good one-two punches here and there,
18:00 but let me tell you something.
18:01 I would love to see these guys just stand in the middle
18:03 and go toe to toe, just like everybody at home.
18:06 - Both fighters started careful,
18:10 but it seems like starting to heat up now,
18:12 especially as each man is responding
18:15 to each other's offense.
18:16 (fighters grunting)
18:45 - Tried to time that, didn't he, Curran?
18:47 - Absolutely.
18:50 Picasso Chance sitting down on that right hand,
18:53 barely missed.
18:53 Right there, the left hook does get through for Chance.
18:57 - I think right now, I think Chance starting to work
19:03 on trying to frustrate Lawson, you know?
19:08 And that's something that comes into play,
19:11 like your amateur background.
19:13 That's a great thing, actually, a good analogy to make.
19:17 You know, in your amateurs, you know little things
19:19 like to frustrate your opponent,
19:20 a little tricks on the ropes,
19:21 and look at Chance finishing strong here
19:24 at the end of the fifth round.
19:25 Wow, a couple of nice shots, but that's a great,
19:29 if you want to use the analogy of having the being come,
19:32 being a, starting out, I'm sorry,
19:35 starting out when you're young,
19:37 that's the things that really help.
19:39 The little, not the little things, but things like,
19:43 you know, knowing when to maybe train at certain points,
19:46 so you're peaking for the fight.
19:48 Maybe, you know, learning, you know,
19:51 how to maybe in a corner,
19:53 and how to get out of a tie up a different way.
19:56 Or things like that that you've seen over the years,
19:58 and you've been privy to, or have different,
20:00 maybe a set of different trainers that have showed you
20:02 and helped you become polished.
20:05 Or either, that, yes, that helps.
20:07 But in regards to, you know, maybe success-wise,
20:11 sometimes success doesn't always translate
20:12 to years in the sport.
20:14 - Absolutely, and we take a look at some of the highlights
20:17 from the last round.
20:18 Raijan Chance certainly opened up,
20:19 especially at the end of the round.
20:22 He's been hitting and moving away.
20:23 This time, he landed a combination,
20:25 and then followed up with another left hook.
20:27 Putting his punches together is Raijan Chance
20:29 as we go into the sixth round of our eight-round
20:33 Super Bantamweight co-main event here
20:35 at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
20:37 Karan Batia on the call, joined by All-American Nick Garone.
20:40 (crowd cheering)
20:43 - Oh.
20:43 Did you see Chance went under the rope,
20:48 put his head completely outside the ring,
20:50 and brought it back in to avoid a punch.
20:52 - They call him Picasso.
20:54 He's definitely a showman, and I think that's about
20:57 marketing yourself as a young fighter, right?
20:59 And Picasso Chance is doing that.
21:01 - Yeah, yeah, no doubt.
21:03 - We see him talking in the ring, taunting his opponents,
21:07 using fancy footwork.
21:08 There you saw his head under the ropes.
21:11 Incredible.
21:12 And to do that, Nick, you have to be comfortable
21:18 in the ring to do that, and that's a testament
21:19 to his experience.
21:20 Started boxing at just age seven.
21:22 - Yeah.
21:23 It's easy to be frustrated by Raijan Chance.
21:33 You know, it's very easy because he's very talented,
21:37 and he knows how to frustrate his opponents.
21:40 - And let me ask you this, Nick.
21:49 We're in the sixth round of our eight-round
21:52 co-main event here.
21:53 It feels like at this space and this pace,
21:57 Chance is having more success than Lawson is.
21:59 Should Lawson try to get closer on the inside?
22:01 Should he try to rough up Chance?
22:03 Should he try to do something a little different
22:05 to disrupt the rhythm of this fight?
22:07 - Yeah, it may be a little too early to do that.
22:10 I think, you know, listen, there's two,
22:12 after this round, there's two rounds left.
22:14 I mean, you know, to expend that kind of energy,
22:17 you know, you have to be a little bit more cerebral
22:19 about it, and you gotta really,
22:21 you can't just go crazy with a guy like Chance
22:23 because, you know, he'll catch you
22:24 or he'll put you to sleep.
22:26 But at the end of the day, you know,
22:29 Lawson, I think, needs to really pick up the pace,
22:31 and I think it's about time he starts doing that.
22:34 - Oh.
22:35 And yeah, they got their feet tangled up,
22:38 no knockdown there.
22:39 But I think Lawson, you're right,
22:42 I think he's gotta start putting the hammer down now,
22:44 and the throttle and go after him.
22:47 - 30 seconds to go in this sixth round.
23:03 - Rejon Chance using movement, counterpunching,
23:07 speed, quickness, it's all been on display here tonight.
23:11 Another quick jab gets through the guard.
23:13 And look at that, you saw a very unorthodox guard
23:17 there again for Chance.
23:18 - Nice dig to the body at the end of the round for Chance.
23:32 - Exactly, and it's like Chance is showing you
23:35 so many different things.
23:36 So let's say you adjust for one,
23:39 and now you have that figured out,
23:40 he's moved on to something else,
23:41 that's what we're seeing in here,
23:42 so many different looks, so many different stances,
23:44 so many different types of attack by Rejon Chance,
23:46 very impressive here tonight.
23:48 - Yeah, and that's the sign of people
23:49 that become successful in this game,
23:51 people that can adjust mid-fight,
23:53 that can, you know, they can get in there
23:55 and, you know, make adjustments and win.
23:59 And on both sides, make adjustments
24:02 to, you know, get in on your opponent
24:04 and beat your opponent, but also make adjustments
24:07 on how to defend and how to get out of situations.
24:10 So I think both of them are doing
24:12 a pretty good job with that, you know.
24:14 I think Lawson has made some adjustments,
24:17 and so did Chance, and right now it's just kinda like a,
24:19 you know, meeting of the minds,
24:21 like who's gonna outsmart who at the end and take this.
24:25 Like I said, I have, you know, Chance winning the fight,
24:28 but definitely not, you know,
24:31 overwhelming or, you know, just completely dominating
24:34 Lawson by any stretch of the imagination.
24:36 - Seventh round in our eight-round co-main event.
24:42 Rejon Picasso Chance.
24:47 You see it there, such an elusive target.
24:50 Moving left, moving right, different angles.
24:54 Smack talk in the middle of the ring,
24:57 showing a bunch of different tools
24:59 in this co-main event here tonight.
25:02 - Good shots by Lawson.
25:13 Started out with a body punch
25:15 and then came back with two head punches.
25:16 Didn't seem to affect Chance much,
25:18 but it definitely landed.
25:20 (crowd chattering)
25:23 And you saw a beautiful counter there for Chance,
25:37 and he's able to do it while he's backing up,
25:39 so he's out of range and able to lay in the counter.
25:43 And Nick, one thing you brought up a moment ago, though,
25:45 Lawson is continuing his attack.
25:46 He landed a few shots to the body,
25:48 and that is the best way to slow down a fighter,
25:50 is go to the body, and it seems like Lawson
25:51 is trying to do that in this seventh round.
25:54 - No doubt.
25:56 He's trying to land more body shots,
25:58 and you know what, I think that's a good strategy,
26:00 but right now he's just gotta score.
26:02 He's gotta score some punches
26:03 and really start to take some rounds here,
26:06 because if he doesn't win this round, the next round,
26:08 I don't think he can win on the decision.
26:10 (crowd chattering)
26:19 - He's really using those laces on Chance's face, too.
26:22 Every chance he has at a tie-up,
26:25 he's really kinda, you know, make,
26:27 I think it's one of two things,
26:29 frustration or wants to get under Chance's skin,
26:34 so hopefully he'll make a mistake,
26:35 open himself up to make a mistake.
26:37 - Less than a minute to go in this
26:42 penultimate round of this fight.
26:47 Rajon Picasso Chance, trained with the likes
26:50 of Teofimo Lopez, Shakur Stevenson, Bud Crawford,
26:54 excellent fighters at a top level,
26:55 and we're seeing that on display here tonight, Nick.
26:58 (crowd chattering)
27:03,
27:04,
27:04 (yelling)
27:07 (yelling)
27:09 - Okay, Dad.
27:17 (yelling)
27:20 (bell ringing)
27:23 - Okay, Dad.
27:28 (bell ringing)
27:34 - I'll tell you right now, you know,
27:37 I think that heading into this last round,
27:40 you know, just Chance has just been kinda just,
27:44 just keep picking rounds up, picking rounds up,
27:46 winning each round, whether it's, you know,
27:50 by a big margin or a small margin,
27:52 just creating things that'll give him the opportunity
27:54 to win rounds, and that's what he's done all fight.
27:58 - This will be the eighth and final round.
28:02 (yelling)
28:04 - It's been a tremendous performance
28:07 by Rayjean Picasso-Chance.
28:08 Trayvon Lawson has been game,
28:11 continued to come forward, trying to work to the body,
28:14 but Picasso-Chance, such an elusive target,
28:16 and that's what we've been talking about all night here.
28:20 (yelling)
28:24 - Last round.
28:30 (yelling)
28:32 (bell ringing)
28:35 - Here we go, clap.
28:36 - Eighth and final round in our co-main event
28:40 here at Mohegan Sun Arena, the Slugfest at the Sun,
28:43 Joe DeGuardia star boxing.
28:46 Nick, it's been all Rayjean Picasso-Chance here.
28:49 - Yeah, no doubt, and you know,
28:50 but Lawson, I think, needs to let it all hang out right now.
28:53 Last round, you got about two and a half minutes
28:55 left in the round, just, you gotta go for it,
28:58 and if you wanna win this fight.
29:00 - But it's so tough to hit Chance,
29:01 it's so tough to hit him solid,
29:03 and it's gonna be tough to put him away, you know?
29:07 That's a nice, that's a great start,
29:09 great body shot right there by Lawson.
29:10 Nothing seems to phase Chance, though.
29:27 - It just looks like frustration on Lawson's face.
29:31 He keeps coming forward, keeps giving an honest effort,
29:35 and keep trying to do something,
29:37 but it's just very tough to penetrate
29:39 that defensive chance.
29:41 And he's got some great counters, too, Chance.
29:45 He's really all around, he's really solid.
29:57 - Just over a minute and a half,
29:58 halfway through this final, last and final round,
30:00 and I think Lawson has been completely frustrated by Chance.
30:05 - And Chance seemingly knowing that he's ahead
30:17 on the scorecards, moving around even more so,
30:20 taking a victory lap, so to speak.
30:21 (crowd shouting)
30:24 - Minute remaining.
30:37 (crowd shouting)
30:43 (crowd shouting)
30:46 - Big left hand there, did get through for Lawson,
31:02 but is it too little, too late here,
31:04 with 30 seconds to go in the final round?
31:06 (crowd shouting)
31:09 - You know, after a two-year layoff, right?
31:18 It was a two-year layoff.
31:20 - It was a one-year layoff for Chance,
31:22 and Lawson hasn't fought since 2021.
31:25 - Both of these guys put a really,
31:27 really good performance on tonight,
31:29 and I can tell you this, that was nice.
31:33 It was good to see them both,
31:34 put their records on the line,
31:36 and give these fans an opportunity
31:38 to see two undefeated fighters against one another.
31:42 And here we go to the glove,
31:43 there's a missed left hook by Chance,
31:46 and then a body, and then coming back to the head
31:48 for Lawson, and then a nice right hand by Lawson.
31:53 Again, right there in the final round.
31:56 I gave the final round to Lawson,
31:58 but the fight, I felt Chance just did enough
32:03 to win the fight.
32:05 - Seemingly that was too little too late,
32:07 I assume, for Lawson there on your scorecard.
32:10 Chance showed a little bit of everything tonight.
32:12 I mean, it seemed like he was able to move,
32:14 he was able to counterpunch.
32:16 He made it very difficult.
32:17 We saw frustration there from Lawson.
32:20 You could visibly see that.
32:21 You even mentioned he was trying to, with the gloves,
32:22 trying to just get inside, do something,
32:24 change the energy.
32:25 He wasn't able to do that.
32:26 - Yeah, no doubt.
32:27 No doubt about it.
32:31 - Lawson, we mentioned, hadn't fought since 2021.
32:34 This was a tough comeback fight,
32:36 and a tough opponent for him in Rage on Chance.
32:39 - Sure was.
32:40 (crowd chanting)
32:42 (crowd chanting)
32:45 (crowd chanting)
32:48 (crowd chanting)
32:51 (crowd chanting)

34:26 (crowd chanting)
34:28 (crowd chanting)
34:31 (crowd chanting)
34:34 (crowd chanting)
34:37 - Okay, here we are.
35:02 Let's go up to Karambatia with the results of the bout.
35:06 - Let's hear it for these two warriors.
35:16 After eight rounds, we go to the judges scorecard.
35:29 Judge at ringside, Don Trella scores the bout 77-75, Lawson.
35:34 Judge at ringside, Tom Carasone scores the bout 79-73, Chance.
35:44 And finally, judge at ringside,
35:55 Glenn Feldman scores the bout 77-75.
36:00 For your winner by split decision,
36:03 Travon Lawson.
36:24 - Wow, that is unbelievable.
36:28 I cannot believe, I cannot believe the scores
36:32 of those of that fight.
