Delikado ang brownout sa ilang institusyon tulad ng ospital pero paano kung 'di maiwasan lalo kung may sakuna. May solusyon ang Department of Energy.

00:00 Brownouts are dangerous in some institutions like hospitals, but what if it's inevitable, especially if there's a pandemic?
00:07 The Department of Energy has a solution for that.
00:10 And Maki Pulido was able to talk.
00:12 In times of calamity, like a strong storm, the electricity is often cut off.
00:20 It depends on the situation on how quickly it can be restored.
00:23 But while there's no electricity, critical institutions like hospitals and banks are compromising
00:29 and food is getting rotten.
00:31 With the help of the US Agency for International Development,
00:34 the Department of Energy was able to deploy 8 mobile emergency systems
00:39 like a generator set, but instead of diesel, there are solar panels and batteries.
00:43 Each unit has 50 kilowatt hours battery storage.
00:47 And upon full charging, it can power 2 television sets, 2 air conditioning units,
00:55 10 light bulbs, 2 desktop computers, 2 laptops, 5 phone charges, 5 electric fans,
01:03 and 1 modem for almost 12 hours.
01:07 It can be powered by a chopper in a large area.
01:10 It can be driven by boat or a truck.
01:13 It's worth P4 to P8 million.
01:16 There will also be an online conference by DILG
01:19 to teach business models to local governments interested in having their own mobile emergency system.
01:26 Before, it was just a chat group that coordinated and gave updates
01:30 if there was a problem with the electricity in a place.
01:33 Now, it has an Energy Sector Emergency Operations Center.
01:37 In its main hub, in the DOE compound in Taguig,
01:40 the situation and calamity, grid problems, and cyber security are monitored in real time.
01:46 Our decision-making is faster and the solutions are more integrated.
01:51 For GMA Integrated News, Mackie Pulido in Tutok, 24 Hours.
