00:00You pull back the curtain on childhood stardom. It is not a pretty picture.
00:04Not as I see it, no.
00:05Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most notable celebrities
00:10who, for one reason or another, declined to participate in reunion episodes,
00:15revivals, or reboots of their TV shows.
00:18Coffee tomorrow? 10.30.
00:23I'll miss the coffees.
00:2410. Tori Spelling – Beverly Hills, 90210
00:34For ten years, Tori Spelling portrayed the stylish Donna Martin on the Fox series
00:38Beverly Hills, 90210.
00:40You all got your two cents in, so now it's my turn.
00:45I just want to say that I want you guys to all know that I love all of you very much.
00:52Nearly a decade after the show's conclusion, a reboot was announced,
00:55intending to reunite some of the original cast, including Shannon Doherty,
01:00Jenny Garth, and Tori Spelling.
01:02Initially, Spelling delayed her appearance due to childbirth.
01:05And Spelling said,
01:06Almost the entire original cast will be back in the reboot. I don't know when this is gonna air.
01:11However, she ultimately chose to leave the show after learning she would be
01:14paid less than Doherty and Garth. Spelling had requested her $20,000
01:19per episode salary be increased to match her co-star's $40,000 to $50,000 pay,
01:25but her plea was rejected.
01:27Nevertheless, she later reprised her role in another reboot titled BH90210,
01:32which unfortunately was cancelled after one season.
01:37Hey!
01:42Did you see that?
01:43Yeah.
01:44After 20 years, hey Tor.
01:46Two words, that's all I get.
01:47Number 9. Zachary Quinto – Heroes
01:53Hello Noah.
01:56Did you miss me?
01:57Zachary Quinto rose to prominence as the psychopathic villain Sylar on the TV series
02:01Heroes. Initially a recurring character in the first season, Sylar evolved into
02:06a central figure in subsequent seasons, earning the adoration of many fans.
02:13You killed him.
02:15I've killed a lot of people, Elle.
02:17You're as much to blame for that as anyone, maybe even more so.
02:22Hence, when the show was given a second life in the form of the revival miniseries,
02:26Heroes Reborn, fans were eager to see Quinto back on their screens.
02:30But while he initially expressed interest in returning, Quinto left many disappointed when
02:35he ultimately announced that he would not be stepping back into Sylar's shoes.
02:39According to the actor, he needed to cultivate other outlets for himself.
02:43Considering his extensive list of credits since, it seems he made the right choice.
02:48I thought I got to finish your mission report.
02:51I do, but I thought it would be more pleasing to engage with you socially.
02:58You old romantic.
02:59Number 8. Chad Michael Murray – Gilmore Girls
03:03Mom Tristan.
03:04Hi.
03:05So you're new?
03:06Yeah, first day.
03:07Well, Remy's class is rough.
03:09Yeah, it seemed very intense.
03:11The 2016 Netflix revival of Gilmore Girls gave fans a perfect conclusion to the beloved comedy-drama
03:17series. Well, almost perfect. Although the miniseries reunited nearly all of the original
03:22cast, there was one glaring omission. Chad Michael Murray, who had played bad boy Tristan de Grey,
03:28was nowhere to be seen. Instead, he had been replaced with another actor, Anton Narinski.
03:34Tristan de Grey, who was originally played by Chad Michael Murray,
03:38was replaced by a different actor. That's right, Days of Our Lives star Anton Narinski
03:44took on the role.
03:45While it was initially reported that Murray simply declined an invitation to appear,
03:50the actor later clarified that he was unable to do so as he had just welcomed his first child
03:55at the time. Nevertheless, he commended the work of Narinski, who portrayed the character
04:00in his place, stating that he delivered a good job.
04:03Somebody went out and was Tristan, but it wasn't me. It wasn't me, but I hear strong work.
04:11Strong work. Good job, man.
04:12Number 7. Lauren Conrad – The Hills
04:15Lauren Conrad was one of the first individuals to benefit from the reality TV boom in the early
04:202000s. Her rise to fame began in 2004 with her appearance on Laguna Beach, The Real Orange
04:27County, and was further solidified with her own spinoff series, The Hills.
04:32I mean, it's sad that, you know, I lost her as a friend. It's sad the things she did to me.
04:36But maybe you haven't lost her forever.
04:38I don't want a friend that I know I will never trust again.
04:40However, as the seasons progressed, Conrad grew disillusioned and decided to exit the
04:45show before its final season. Therefore, it wasn't all that surprising when the series
04:49was revived in 2019 as The Hills – New Beginnings, and Conrad declined to participate.
04:56I'm just, I really value my privacy. I like having a moment and knowing that I'm just
05:02sharing it with my family and not broadcasting it.
05:05The fashion designer cited a focus on her family and a desire for privacy as her reasons,
05:10options she likely wouldn't have had while filming a reality show.
05:14And I did it for a really long time, and I'm so grateful for my time on television.
05:18But I'm in a place now where, between my family and my career,
05:22like, I've got a pretty full plate, so I'm not looking to add anything.
05:25Number 6. Chevy Chase – Community
05:28Decades after breaking out on the first season of NBC's Saturday Night Live,
05:32Chevy Chase experienced a career resurgence when he returned to the network for the show Community.
05:38I'm ready to graduate.
05:39Yeah?
05:40Well, I'm ready to graduate first.
05:43Seems oddly appropriate.
05:45Congratulations, Pierce.
05:48Yes!
05:50Chase played the arrogant millionaire Pierce Hawthorne
05:53until his abrupt departure from the series in its fourth season.
05:56His exit came after an on-set incident in which Chase reportedly uttered racist remarks.
06:02I thought you were dead.
06:03Hell no. After I got shot, I faked my death to teach you all a lesson.
06:08Lesson about what?
06:09Who can remember? It was more than a year ago.
06:11With the announcement of a feature-length Community film in 2022,
06:14the speculation arose about Chase's potential involvement.
06:18However, series creator Dan Harmon dismissed those speculations,
06:22stating that he was unsure if it was even legally possible for Chase to appear.
06:26Despite this, the film will see the return of all the other main cast members,
06:31including Joel McHale and Donald Glover.
06:33I was told the script is done.
06:35Well, was it in your inbox?
06:37No, it's not. I haven't read it yet, but I was told it was done.
06:41So it's really just a schedule thing. I'm in. I'm all in.
06:445. Michael Ontkean – Twin Peaks
06:48Sometimes an actor retires from show business and simply has no desire to return.
06:52That seemingly was the case with Canadian actor Michael Ontkean,
06:56who portrayed Sheriff Harry S. Truman in the first two seasons of Twin Peaks.
07:00They're in. Had a slice of cherry pie. Incredible.
07:05Well, I'll tell you, we're sure glad to have the FBI here.
07:08When talk surfaced about reviving the show,
07:10Ontkean, who had retired from acting, was approached to reprise his role.
07:14Initially keen on the idea, Ontkean eventually lost interest and declined the offer,
07:19opting to remain retired.
07:20Hey, Jo. I understand you wanted to see the sheriff up here.
07:27Yes, I did.
07:29The role was eventually replaced with Truman's brother Frank, portrayed by Robert Forster.
07:34Interestingly, Forster was originally hired as Harry Truman for the show's 1990 pilot,
07:39but he had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts, leading to Ontkean being cast.
07:45Good to see you again, Wally.
07:49It's good to see you too, Sheriff Truman.
07:514. David Hyde Pierce – Frasier
07:54A spinoff series itself, Frasier enjoyed a successful 11-season run,
07:58garnering numerous awards and propelling its main cast to household name status.
08:03This included David Hyde Pierce, who received critical acclaim and won four Emmy Awards for
08:09his portrayal of Frasier's younger brother, Niles.
08:12You're acting just like Dad.
08:14You take that back!
08:16Although his stint on the show was a success, Pierce ultimately came to the realization that
08:22he wasn't quite interested in repeating the performance.
08:25Hence, when the revival of Frasier was ordered on Paramount+,
08:28the actor chose not to reprise the iconic role.
08:31We wanted it to be, it was always meant to be a rediscovery of a kind of
08:35a book-ended relationship between me and my father and then the same thing with me and my son.
08:39Nonetheless, he remains grateful for his time on the original series.
08:43Even without his involvement, the revival premiered to generally positive reviews
08:47and was promptly renewed for a second season.
08:50I reached out to your uncle Niles and this is what he wrote.
08:53It was the night before Christmas and all throughout the house not a creature was stirring
08:55except Frasier, who went overboard and ruined the eggnog.
08:593. Jeanette McCurdy – iCarly
09:03If my dad asked me to spend some time with him in Italy, I'd say,
09:06well, first I'd say, oh, so you're my dad.
09:13And then I'd go.
09:14The 2021 revival of the Nickelodeon sitcom iCarly was missing one key figure, Jeanette McCurdy.
09:20The actress portrayed the tomboyish Sam Puckett in all six seasons and returned
09:24to star alongside Ariana Grande in the spinoff Sam & Cat.
09:28Years later, McCurdy disclosed that during her time on iCarly,
09:32she faced severe maltreatment from her own mother.
09:34Her approach was very unhealthy and informed by her own lack of self-work,
09:41and she lived vicariously through me.
09:44This contributed to her decision to quit acting in the late 2010s following her mom's passing.
09:49When she was approached to reprise her role for the revival series,
09:52McCurdy declined, preferring not to be reminded of her past experience.
09:56Instead, she directed her energy towards her one-woman tragicomedy show,
10:00I'm Glad My Mom Died, which she later adapted into a best-selling book.
10:04I earned that title through the writing of the book, but I wanted it to be something that would
10:08grab people's attention and get them to pick up the book and then hopefully learn by the end of it.
10:132. Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen – Full House
10:17This house was apparently too full for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen,
10:20the former child stars who made their acting debut sharing the role of Michelle Tanner on
10:25Full House, were noticeably absent from the 2016 Netflix revival Fuller House.
10:30Well, Michelle sends her love, but she's busy in New York running her fashion empire.
10:37Following their time on the show, the Olsens continued to act in movies and TV before
10:42eventually retiring to focus on their fashion brands. Due to their prolonged hiatus from acting,
10:47the sisters turned down the offer to return, stating that it was also bad timing.
10:52And do you remember, like, what's your earliest memory of that?
10:56There's quite a few. I'm not sure if they're memories or old footage.
11:02The show's executive producer confirmed their absence,
11:04but expressed that they're still cherished as part of the Full House family.
11:08Here's hoping they can find time for the second spin-off, Fullest House.

11:40Number 1. Kim Cattrall – Sex and the City
11:43After portraying Samantha Jones throughout all six seasons of Sex and the City and its
11:48two feature films, Kim Cattrall decided she was done with the character.
11:52What time is checkout?
11:54A proposed third film was retooled into the revival series,
11:58and Just Like That, which premiered in 2021.
12:01Since Cattrall had already declined to appear in the third movie,
12:04she reportedly wasn't even approached to reprise her role for the show.
12:08Nonetheless, she has stated that it wouldn't have altered her decision.
12:12But after Sex and the City 2, she swore off reprising her role.
12:17I love her so much, but she lives in a time and a place, and I honor that.
12:22Despite her initial opposition, Cattrall ultimately made a brief cameo in the second
12:27season finale. However, due to her strained relationship with the rest of the cast,
12:31she filmed her scenes separately, without interacting with any of her former co-stars.
12:36Who's Samantha? This is Annabelle Bronstein. I'm Ramin Djawal.
12:41Ta and Cheerio. And have a great night.
12:45Which of these stars would you have loved to see back full-time on their respective shows?
