00:04 Aside from being a talented actress, she is also known for being passionate about the advocacy she supports.

00:10 That's why in the last Women's Month, Carla received the title of Cosmopolitan Philippines.

00:35 It was fun to see Carla's first reaction when she found out that she is one of the 8 outstanding and inspiring Filipinas that are known by Cosmopolitan Philippines.

00:44 I'm very flattered, also surprised but in a pleasant way.

00:49 Normally, if we are recognized as celebrities, it's for our craft, for acting, whether it's for film or TV.

00:59 But this time, it's for my advocacy and my welfare.

01:02 So all the more that I feel so grateful, all the more that I am so excited.

01:09 And I feel, it's very heartwarming because for once, I have got the attention of a fashion and beauty magazine.

01:21 But it's for something I believe in, something I advocate for, something I'm passionate about, which is animal welfare.

01:27 So for me, it's priceless.

01:29 What does Compassion Champion mean to Carla?

01:33 Compassion Champion is beautiful.

01:35 But yes, from the two words, or from the title, Compassion Champion, compassion is so important.

01:43 I can't stress it enough.

01:45 Fortunately, in the world we live in now, not everybody has compassion.

01:49 Not everybody is compassionate.

01:52 It's one thing, unfortunately, that we lack already these days, empathy.

01:57 If we are compassionate, it's always towards other people, but we should be compassionate towards animals.

02:06 So for me, it's very important because that's one, definitely one, what do you call it, one characteristic that I am proud of.

02:17 Because when we were young, we were already raised by our mom and our grandmother to be compassionate human beings.

02:26 As an animal welfare advocate, Carla Abeliana has many more projects she wants to do.

02:32 I guess more projects that aim to raise more awareness, especially on those who don't have access to social media or the internet.

02:44 And even those older generations who are unaware of the Animal Welfare Act.

02:50 And the seriousness of it, and the possibility of course of ending up in jail or being such a hefty fine.

02:59 If you are cruel or neglectful towards an animal, so I hope that's more.

03:05 Aside from that, maybe a project or an activity, an event that will in a way encourage people to be more responsible pet parents or pet owners.

03:20 Because it's a commitment, it's a lifetime commitment.

03:24 It shouldn't be taken lightly, it's something serious and it entails a lot of duties and responsibilities.

03:36 Meanwhile, Carla is also fighting for the taping of "Widow's War", one of the series that will be aired on GMA this 2024.

03:43 How is she and her co-actor on the set of the program?

03:46 It's still the same. Our director, Zieg Dulay, takes his precious time and is very meticulous on the scenes.

03:55 Especially on our sets, the mood of the scenes, the beauty of the set, the details.

04:03 Not so much on the characters because there are a lot of us, we are a big cast.

04:08 And of course, that's part of our responsibility as actors to really pay attention, be mindful about and really bring to life our characters.
