Tesla Settles Lawsuit Over Fatal Autopilot Crash, Raising Questions About Autopilot Technology
  • 12 days ago
Tesla settled a lawsuit over a 2018 fatal crash where an Apple engineer died when his Tesla Model X crashed into a barrier while in Autopilot mode. The crash killed 38-year-old Walter Huang in Mountain View, California at around 70 mph. An NTSB investigation found Huang was playing a game on his smartphone in the final moments before the crash. Tesla maintains Autopilot requires driver supervision and intervention at all times. The NTSB has said partially automated systems don't allow fully self-driving and require driver attention.
