00:04 The countdown for the April 8th total solar eclipse is officially on and I'm here to provide you some guidelines for viewing it safely.
00:13 Hi, I'm meteorologist Jeanette Gallardo and the first thing you want to do is make sure that you have ISO certified glasses.
00:20 And once you have them, inspect them for any damages such as holes or scratches as damaged eyewear is not going to provide an adequate level of protection.
00:30 Third, you want to make sure that you are wearing them throughout the entire duration of the eclipse including those partial phases.
00:38 The forecast is calling for some cloudiness throughout much of the totality path.
00:44 Even in this path, you want to make sure you wear your glasses if there are any breaks in the clouds.
00:50 You may be tempted to look at it directly but it is not safe to do so.
00:54 So still keep that eyewear protection on.
