Across the globe, young men are becoming more conservative while women are turning more progressive.
Korea’s population is expected to halve within the next 80 years. This is partly driven by global societal changes, but also a widening gap in political and ideological views between Gen Z men and women.

00:00 I don't know, I think there is a difference, there can be a difference.
00:04 I think, especially on the younger end of the spectrum, boys seem to be more into the
00:11 finance bro aspect of things and that making money and becoming a CEO, entrepreneur, I
00:16 don't think girls are quite as much into that.
00:19 I think there is more of a focus when it comes to women on sexual health and sexual freedom
00:25 and I don't think boys are quite caught up to that yet and I think they are still a little
00:30 bit behind.
00:31 Gen Z, like growing out of Covid, then for us coming to university where you get a lot
00:38 more, there is a lot more opinions around you.
00:45 I also feel like the fact that women have gone more left, because there is obviously
00:49 there is always going to be a gender battle in a way that has repelled men to go the more
00:56 right way.
00:57 I feel like that compares to say when I go back home and I'm in quite a male environment,
01:03 playing sport or you get a lot of people who maybe have male jobs such as tradesmen and
01:12 what not.
01:13 That is a very different environment.
01:16 I also think like especially now there is a real, because of those liberal views, there
01:23 is a real environment for men to become more alpha and I think that contributes to the
01:33 right wing views.
01:34 There was an argument the other day in the friend group about opinions on abortion and
01:40 death penalty.
01:42 How does it make you feel personally?
01:46 I feel like I'm quite neutral in the sense of like I feel like everyone is entitled to
01:50 their own opinion and you can't necessarily change that but I don't 100% agree with everything.
01:55 I feel like social media has a big presence in influencing people's opinions and especially
02:01 from a young age I feel like people are growing up with lots of factors that play an impact.
02:06 I think it's to do with social media.
02:08 I think that you can go off on your own sort of paths with what you're interested in and
02:14 then you get shoveled into your echo chambers and some of them positive, some of them probably
02:20 not so positive.
02:21 I think that the boys ones tend to be more about how to get money and power and then
02:28 the girls ones is more about freedom of expression.
02:32 I do sociology so it's very, you know, I almost can't escape it in a way but I try to in a
02:42 sense that I'd rather like, I've never been that into politics myself.
02:48 I'd much rather just play the cards I'm dealt with but for me obviously I'd probably, you
02:55 know, side with the boys.
