00:21 Meryl began her introduction by hilariously comparing their ages.
00:25 Back in 1965, I was a 14-year-old freshman in high school in Bernardsville, New Jersey.
00:32 The song that I carried in my head in 1965 was the number one hit.
00:36 And the girl who sang on that record, I found out, Cher.
00:41 She was 17 years old, which I thought was really old.
00:50 The Oscar-winning actress then got deep, praising her friend for her talent
00:55 and all the work she's done for women and LGBTQ rights.
00:59 She leads with her heart in everything she does, in her acting, her singing, her dancing, her dressing.

01:09 And it's brought her lots of prestigious awards,
01:13 but it's also pulled her to work on behalf of our veterans and for LGBTQ rights.

01:21 Jennifer Hudson then got on stage to belt Cher's hit "If I Could Turn Back Time"
01:25 before the music legend joined her on stage to sing "Believe."

01:43 Following the performance, Cher accepted the award,
01:46 noting that she was wearing 40-year-old bands
01:49 and told the audience to never give up on their dreams.

01:57 because I know from my own experience that if you have a dream and you stick with it,
