Porto Cervo, a seaside resort along Italy’s Costa Smeralda on the island of Sardinia, is exactly what it was intended to be.

The central town and surrounding swath of the Emerald Coast were founded by Prince Karim Aga Khan and investors beginning in the 1960s as an upscale tourist destination. The development became a favorite of the international jet set as a place to play and stay.

Now, a home designed in the 1970s by renowned architect Luigi Vietti is for sale in Porto Cervo. Later renovated, this waterfront residence maintains the original façade and characteristic red tile roof. With a total of five bedrooms and six bathrooms, the interiors use granite, terra cotta, wood and marble. The property contains the nearly 4,900-square-foot main villa with a central patio, swimming pool and separate 750-square-foot guest or staff annex.

00:00 Porto Cervo, a seaside resort along Italy's Costa Smeralda on the island of Sardinia,
00:06 is exactly what it was intended to be.
00:09 The central town and surrounding swath of the Emerald Coast were founded by Prince Karim
00:14 Aga Khan and investors beginning in the 1960s as an upscale tourist destination.
00:21 The development quickly became a favorite of the international jet set as a place to
00:25 play and stay.
00:27 Reachable within a few hours' flight from most major European capitals, the Costa Smeralda
00:33 is now a favorite destination for high-net-worth individuals from Eastern Europe, the United
00:38 Kingdom and the United States who are looking to find their own private oasis.
00:44 Among the various architects and landscape designers employed to implement the master-planned
00:49 community's creation was renowned architect Luigi Vietti.
00:54 Vietti is credited with the design of the village center, as well as the Cervo and the
00:59 Pizzeria Pizzeria, the Dolce Sposa residential complex, and an assortment of private villas,
01:06 including Cerbiate, the prince's personal residence.
01:11 Architectural guidelines called for rustic Mediterranean designs using irregular shapes,
01:16 decorative arches, pastel exteriors, and natural unfinished wood.
01:21 Now a home designed in the 1970s by Vietti is for sale in Porto Cervo.
01:27 Later renovated, this waterfront residence maintains the original facade and characteristic
01:33 red tile roof.
01:35 The estate's roughly 2.5-acre site borders two sandy bays bisected by a swimming dock.
01:43 Views take in the coastline, the yacht club, and the landmark Stella Maris Church.
01:49 The property contains the nearly 4,900-square-foot main villa with a central patio, swimming
01:55 pool, and separate 750-square-foot guest or staff annex.
02:01 With a total of five bedrooms and six bathrooms, the interiors use granite, terracotta, wood,
02:07 and marble.
02:09 The sunlit kitchen features an island for flexibility.
02:13 As for the location, the marina is a five-minute walk away, while the center of town is about
02:19 20 minutes by foot, or just a few minutes by taxi boat.
02:23 The Costa Smeralda remains among the most sought-after destinations globally for buyers
02:28 looking for a second home, whether that's for summer holidays or for longer periods
02:33 where they can work remotely or spend their retirement.
02:37 The asking price for the property is available on request.
02:41 Two berths at the nearby marina are included.
