The Spectre

A song about the sudden and tragic loss of a true love. Simplified it over the years and tweaked the audio.

The neon sculpture at the beginning was my creation. I went to a neon school in Irving, Texas for a six week crash course in neon fabrication. Returned to South Carolina and hoped to find a place where I could work as an apprentice under a master neon dude. Got that job but my "master" turned out to be anything but a master. In fact, he was a boastful, incompetent loudmouth.

While at the school I made this neon sculpture out of a single tube of glass. It took me several tries before I could get it just right. One Piece. No Welds. I kept it on the bench at my new job.

The neon master called me a liar and told me that there was no way I could have done that. He wrecked a lot of glass tubing before they finally realized that he didn't know how to work with blueprints. I left a few weeks before he did.

One day the man who owned the sign company got into a fist fight with his oldest son and had to be restrained by two employees as he was trying to retrieve a pistol from his car. I packed my shit first thing the next morning and never looked back. Too much drama...

I still have the neon sculpture. It's right next to this computer. Still works after 26 years.
