00:00 >> We went over the instructions in the dress room.
00:01 I expect a clean fight.
00:02 These trunks right here are good.
00:03 That's the line.
00:04 These are high.
00:05 I'm going to let them work right there.
00:06 There's the line.
00:07 Touch them up now.
00:08 Go back to your corners.
00:09 >> Raymond Murataya.
00:10 That's a name that not a lot of lightweights are saying out loud, Tim.
00:11 But it's a name that you should get to know because this young man is skilled and he's
00:14 powerful and he's trained by Robert Garcia.
00:15 >> I'm going to let him work right there.
00:16 There's the line.
00:17 Touch him up now.
00:18 Go back to your corners.
00:19 >> Raymond Murataya.
00:20 That's a name that not a lot of lightweights are saying out loud, Tim.
00:21 But it's a name that you should get to know because this young man is skilled and he's
00:30 trained by Robert Garcia as well as his father, Gabriel Murataya, who kind of gave up the
00:32 reins to Robert as of late.
00:33 >> Let's go, round one.
00:34 Box.
00:35 >> Tonight, Jolizani Ndodjene comes from South Africa.
00:36 His last fight was a loss stopped in eight rounds by Arnold Barbosa, also a contender
00:37 at 140 pounds, undefeated at 28-0.
00:38 That was a great fight.
00:39 >> Raymond Murataya.
00:40 That's a name that not a lot of lightweights are saying out loud, Tim.
00:41 But it's a name that you should get to know because this young man is skilled and he's
00:42 powerful and he's trained by Robert Garcia as well as his father, Gabriel Murataya, who
00:43 kind of gave up the reins to Robert as of late.
00:44 >> Let's go, round one.
00:51 Box.
00:52 >> Tonight, Jolizani Ndodjene comes from South Africa.
00:53 His last fight was a loss stopped in eight rounds by Arnold Barbosa, also a contender
00:54 at 140 pounds, undefeated at 28-0.
00:55 That was on January 6th, so you talk about being max tough.
00:56 >> He's a real veteran.
00:57 He is.
00:58 And he's the type of fighter, if he stays around long enough and he starts to generate confidence,
00:59 that's when he becomes a problem.
01:00 >> Ndodjene coming out with a stiff jab here against Murataya, trying to use his right
01:01 hand.
01:02 >> That's a name that not a lot lightweights are saying out loud, Tim.
01:03 >> Raymond Murataya.
01:04 That's a name that not a lot lightweights are saying out loud.
01:05 >> Raymond Murataya.
01:06 That's a name that not a lot lightweights are saying out loud.
01:29 >> He's not going to be able to move laterally that quickly, getting out of the way of shots,
01:35 but he'll be able to spring back and out of range, but not move laterally.
01:39 >> I don't know that back is where you want to go against a fighter like Murataya.
01:44 You want to have that facility to move laterally because Murataya has quick feet and even faster
01:50 and more powerful hands.
01:53 Right now you see the activity of Ndodjene.
02:00 You've got Murataya who has to take his time, he's got to find his mark with his jab.
02:03 As of right now, just that activity, a lot of upper body movement, hand gestures coming
02:08 from Ndodjene.
02:10 It takes a little time to find his rhythm, but once he finds his rhythm, trust me people,
02:14 he's going to land hard and he's going to start landing as often as possible.
02:19 >> And I can assure you, even though he didn't say that in the fighter meetings, that Murataya
02:23 knows what Arnold Barbosa did to Ndodjene, going eight rounds with him before the stoppage.
02:30 He wants to get a quicker stoppage against Ndodjene if at all possible.
02:34 >> Look, look, Murataya to me is just too smart for Ndodjene.
02:39 I mean I've watched him on tape, you know he has that herky-jerky style, he tries to
02:43 get in and get out, but man there's so many holes in his defense.
02:46 He slows down a bit, that hook in particular, but just wait for the right, the looping right
02:50 hand to find his mark, because that's coming next.
02:57 >> Biggest win of Ndodjene's career was a seventh round knockout against Abidun Kansan.
03:02 That name might sound familiar because he was the hapless mandatory challenger that
03:07 Josh Taylor beat up on.
03:10 >> Murataya right now staying calm, trying different avenues, moving his feet left, moving
03:20 them right, changing his angles up a bit, looking for counter right hands, looking for
03:26 opportunities to land that left hook.
03:27 Ndodjene is just, again, he's spicy, he's hot right now, a lot of energy, but once he
03:32 slows down a bit, then we're going to see what he knows.
03:35 >> That's why he's nicknamed the Wasp.
03:36 >> The Wasp.
03:37 >> That's it.
03:38 >> Let's listen in to Robert Garcia in the corner of Raymond Murataya.
03:42 >> Deep breath.
03:44 How you feeling?
03:47 Good?
03:48 Breathe.
03:49 >> Look, on the outside, he's going to be a little too awkward, so close it down a little
03:58 more, close it down a little more.
03:59 You're over his jab, you're right hand over his jab, do it quick.
04:00 Or, when he throws his right, boom, counter, right?
04:01 It's there, it's there, you've seen it.
04:02 >> Yeah, I've seen it.
04:03 >> You've seen it.
04:04 >> Yeah, I've seen it.
04:05 >> You've seen it.
04:06 >> Yeah, I've seen it.
04:07 >> You've seen it.
04:08 >> You've seen it.
04:09 >> It's there, you've seen it, it's there, you just got to do it at the right time, okay?
04:10 >> Yeah.
04:11 >> Breathe.
04:12 You're good?
04:13 >> Yeah.
04:14 >> You're good, all right.
04:15 Boom, bang, bang, rhythm, rhythm, right?
04:16 You look good doing it, right?
04:17 And don't get lazy, because, you know, that was one-on-one landing, just don't get lazy,
04:18 right?
04:19 >> Yeah.
04:20 >> All right, let's go.
04:21 >> All right, let's go.
04:22 >> All right, let's go.
04:23 >> All right, let's go.
04:24 >> All right, let's go.
04:25 >> All right, let's go.
04:26 >> All right, let's go.
04:27 >> All right, let's go.
04:28 >> All right, let's go.
04:29 >> All right, let's go.
04:30 >> All right, let's go.
04:31 >> All right, let's go.
04:32 >> All right, let's go.
04:33 >> All right, let's go.
04:34 >> All right, let's go.
04:35 >> All right, let's go.
04:36 >> All right, let's go.
04:37 >> All right, let's go.
04:38 >> All right, let's go.
04:39 >> All right, let's go.
04:40 >> All right, let's go.
04:41 >> All right, let's go.
04:42 >> All right, let's go.
04:43 >> All right, let's go.
04:44 >> All right, let's go.
04:45 >> All right, let's go.
04:46 >> All right, let's go.
04:47 >> All right, let's go.
04:48 >> All right, let's go.
04:49 >> All right, let's go.
04:50 >> All right, let's go.
04:52 >> All right, let's go.
04:53 >> All right, let's go.
04:54 >> All right, let's go.
04:55 >> All right, let's go.
04:56 >> All right, let's go.
04:57 >> All right, let's go.
04:58 >> All right, let's go.
04:59 >> All right, let's go.
05:00 >> All right, let's go.
05:01 >> All right, let's go.
05:02 >> All right, let's go.
05:03 >> All right, let's go.
05:04 >> All right, let's go.
05:05 >> All right, let's go.
05:06 >> All right, let's go.
05:07 >> All right, let's go.
05:08 >> All right, let's go.
05:09 >> All right, let's go.
05:10 >> All right, let's go.
05:11 >> All right, let's go.
05:12 >> All right, let's go.
05:13 >> All right, let's go.
05:15 >> All right, let's go.
05:16 >> All right, let's go.
05:17 >> All right, let's go.
05:18 >> All right, let's go.
05:19 >> All right, let's go.
05:20 >> All right, let's go.
05:21 >> All right, let's go.
05:22 >> All right, let's go.
05:23 >> All right, let's go.
05:24 >> All right, let's go.
05:25 >> All right, let's go.
05:26 >> All right, let's go.
05:27 >> All right, let's go.
05:28 >> All right, let's go.
05:29 >> All right, let's go.
05:30 >> All right, let's go.
05:31 >> All right, let's go.
05:32 >> All right, let's go.
05:33 >> All right, let's go.
05:34 >> All right, let's go.
05:35 >> All right, let's go.
05:36 >> All right, let's go.
05:38 >> All right, let's go.
05:39 >> All right, let's go.
05:40 >> All right, let's go.
05:41 >> All right, let's go.
05:42 >> All right, let's go.
05:43 >> All right, let's go.
05:44 >> All right, let's go.
05:45 >> All right, let's go.
05:46 >> All right, let's go.
05:47 >> All right, let's go.
05:48 >> All right, let's go.
05:49 >> All right, let's go.
05:50 >> All right, let's go.
05:51 >> All right, let's go.
05:52 >> All right, let's go.
05:53 >> All right, let's go.
05:54 >> All right, let's go.
05:55 >> All right, let's go.
05:56 >> All right, let's go.
05:57 >> All right, let's go.
05:58 >> All right, let's go.
05:59 >> All right, let's go.
06:01 >> All right, let's go.
06:02 >> All right, let's go.
06:03 >> All right, let's go.
06:04 >> All right, let's go.
06:05 >> All right, let's go.
06:06 >> All right, let's go.
06:07 >> All right, let's go.
06:08 >> All right, let's go.
06:09 >> All right, let's go.
06:10 >> All right, let's go.
06:11 >> All right, let's go.
06:12 >> All right, let's go.
06:13 >> All right, let's go.
06:14 >> All right, let's go.
06:15 >> All right, let's go.
06:16 >> All right, let's go.
06:17 >> All right, let's go.
06:18 >> All right, let's go.
06:19 >> All right, let's go.
06:20 >> All right, let's go.
06:21 >> All right, let's go.
06:22 >> All right, let's go.
06:24 >> That's something that she's going to have to deal with and Valle coming at her full
06:26 force.
06:27 >> That injury happened in July of 2023.
06:30 She had surgery in September.
06:32 In the meantime, Yocasta Valle won decisions in title defenses against Maria Santiso and
06:38 Anabel Ortiz.
06:39 You talk about momentum coming in, and that's what you have with Yocasta Valle.
06:45 You see momentum here from Endojeni off to a quick start outlanding Murataya so far.
06:58 >> And that's what he's going to do.
06:59 You know, Endojeni is going to come out hot.
07:02 He's very active.
07:03 Now, if he can keep this pace and keep pointing his way to victory just on pure activity,
07:08 see, the thing is that Murataya can't get frustrated.
07:11 He can't get careless, one, because he got to get caught, but also he can't get frustrated.
07:15 He got to take his time.
07:16 And so when you have a guy that's active like that with his movement, head movement, and
07:20 feints and all the smoke and mirrors, attack the body.
07:24 That's the largest target.
07:26 You start attacking the body, then he starts to stand still.
07:29 >> Especially when you're so wide, Timmy, talking about the fact that he can't move
07:32 out of the way laterally.
07:34 The body is going to be the last thing to move as Murataya lands a short left hook at
07:38 the conclusion of this second round.
07:41 [bell dings]
07:44 >> Robert Garcia will have some more to say to Raymond Murataya.
07:48 >> Still a little awkward, all right?
07:50 Just stay smart, all right?
07:52 Stay a little awkward.
07:53 [chatter]
07:56 [bell dings]
07:59 >> You're good?
08:00 >> Yeah.
08:01 >> All right.
08:02 [chatter]
08:05 >> You got a beautiful body.
08:06 You got a beautiful body shot.
08:08 All right?
08:09 So it's worth it.
08:10 Do it when it's lighter, right?
08:11 Not just when we're talking about.
08:13 You got to find it yourself.
08:16 >> Tim, something that's very important for Murataya that he's really good at is controlling
08:20 range.
08:21 Talk to me about distance here and how important it is.
08:23 >> But you got to know your range and when to throw the right shot.
08:26 But right here, he steps in all the way behind his jab.
08:29 And he comes behind.
08:31 But see, he tried to shorten his right hand right there.
08:33 It wasn't fully extended.
08:35 That's the reason why it didn't have so much effect on the shot.
08:38 But if he had the proper range in throwing that shot and not stepping in fully behind
08:42 that jab, he probably would have caught endogeny and knocked him right out.
08:48 >> He overcommitted, was too close, and that's why range is so important.
08:52 We talk about the battle for real estate.
08:55 >> Yeah.
08:56 >> It's another range.
08:57 >> You see, the thing is is that sometimes, you know, fighters, we believe that we got
09:01 to step in, you know, to get close to our opponent.
09:04 Sometimes, you just got to let the punch fly from where it is.
09:07 You're actually close enough.
09:09 That time, you have Murataya who stepped too far in to unleash that right hand.
09:14 Just the wrong range at the wrong time.
09:16 >> And endogeny, even though he's got a 2 1/2 inch reach advantage, looks like the longer
09:20 fighter here just because of how he fights.
09:24 >> It's the activity right now that's helping endogeny right now in these rounds.
09:28 And the awkwardness, there's something to be said about the awkwardness.
09:32 >> Ooh, nice combination from endogeny.
09:34 >> The combination and the hook.
09:36 Look, the combinations will fly.
09:38 Something would eventually get in there.
09:40 I don't care how defensive you are, unless your name is Floyd Mayweather Jr., something
09:45 will eventually get in there.
09:47 >> And this fight was scheduled at 138 pounds.
09:49 >> Look right in.
09:50 >> Nice right there from Murataya.
09:52 >> That was a nice pull.
09:54 >> Endogeny fought his last fight at 140 pounds, but Murataya still believes he is a lightweight
10:00 when it comes to being a contender and a top 10 rated contender by the WBC at number 2,
10:05 WBO number 5, and IBF number 8.
10:08 Nice body work from Murataya, but endogeny comes off over the top.
10:13 >> See the focus now, his transition from Murataya, nice, listening to his trainer and
10:18 going down to that body.
10:21 That's good, that's going to slow down endogeny.
10:25 Endogeny, excuse me.
10:27 That's going to slow him down.
10:28 As you see him now, he's not as bouncy anymore.
10:33 He slowed those feet down.
10:34 That pressure is starting to get to him, little by little.
10:37 Murataya is inching forward, trying to get close, put that mental pressure on him.
10:42 >> Ooh, nice right hand from endogeny there.
10:47 >> Don't hold him, don't hold him.
10:53 >> Murataya tonight looks flat.
11:02 >> Yeah.
11:03 >> He looks flat tonight, and I get the rhythm, I get the rhythm of endogeny.
11:08 A little bit difficult to deal with, but his punches are not sharp and crisp like I'm used to seeing them.
11:14 Could be a possible tough time making weight.
11:18 That was a hard shot right there down to the body, straight right hand down to the body.
11:22 >> And look, this is not the same Raymond Murataya we saw against Jeremiah Nakatila.
11:28 And just remember how slow a start he had against Humberto Galindo, who he stopped in the ninth round,
11:33 but he got dropped by a quick shot to the liver by Galindo.
11:38 So we see that he's vulnerable early on, but if endogeny doesn't take advantage of things, he's gonna start coming on.
11:47 >> Yes, yes he is.
11:49 But right now I feel like Murataya right now is in the driver's seat right now.
11:52 He has endogeny exactly where he wants him.
11:54 He's putting more and more pressure on him, and he's gonna eventually catch up to him and stop him.
11:59 >> We can't give him round.
12:01 >> Endogeny landed a really good right hand in this round.
12:05 >> Look, you can't get careless with endogeny.
12:07 If you get careless with him because he's so active, hyperactive, he's gonna catch you with something.
12:13 You know, he's a guy that believes in his power, he believes in his chin as well.
12:16 He would stand there and trade with you.
12:18 See that right hand right after the left hook?
12:20 These are 50/50 exchanges right here.
12:22 You see Murataya trying to get low right there.
12:25 Missed with that left hook, but, boom, in position for the right hand.
12:29 There he is, just changing levels, going down to the body right there, keeping his head on the inside this time.
12:35 He should have tipped his head outside.
12:37 He would have never got hit with that right hand if he would have put his head on the left side of endogeny.
12:41 >> He's not strong enough for you. You understand me?
12:43 [whistle blows]
12:44 >> He's not strong enough for you.
12:46 >> Position is key. That's what it is. Position is key, especially in the inside.
12:49 Your head placement is extremely important in the inside.
12:52 And if you're gonna lead with a body shot, just as Murataya did,
12:56 you better make sure that your head is in the clear before you throw it, because you'll get hit with shots like that.
13:03 >> What Raymond Murataya told us really hurt him the time he got dropped
13:08 was the fact that he did not get a chance to warm up.
13:11 And I don't know how warm he looked.
13:13 You know, he wasn't lathered up when he came out here for the first round.
13:17 And you'll remember that Robert Garcia was in the corner of Lindolfo Delgado in the previous fight.
13:22 But he's had his father there with him the entire time.
13:25 They've worked together since he was a kid, so I'm sure he did a good job of warming him up.
13:30 But just something was off early with Raymond.
13:32 >> Yeah, I noticed that in this fight a while back.
13:37 However, what I did like is that he was able to take the shot, he was able to process it,
13:43 and get the win, still get that win, that knockout win.
13:47 >> You know who would love a knockout win tonight?
13:51 YoCasta Valle. She has 10 consecutive decision wins.
13:57 Her last knockout was in February of 2020.
14:00 She's getting stretched out there in the locker room early on.
14:05 Walk me through what they're doing in YoCasta's locker room, kind of getting ready for this fight.
14:10 >> Just getting her loose. That's it.
14:12 You know, you don't want to catch a cramp.
14:14 You want to loosen up the legs, loosen up the limbs.
14:16 You know, it's just like anything.
14:18 If you're going to get ready to do a strenuous activity, you better stretch out.
14:21 You don't want to pull no hammy or, you know, anything inside the fish's body.
14:27 But that's what they're doing right now, just getting her loose, lathered up, and ready to go.
14:32 >> We saw how Murataya was able to land to the liver of Endo Jenny.
14:36 That opened up the right hand for Murataya, and this is where he starts to get into range and become dangerous.
14:43 >> He found his rhythm finally, and he's starting to go down to the body.
14:48 You start seeing Endo Jenny is active. He's game.
14:54 You know, he's here to win this fight. He's not here to survive.
14:58 He's here to win this fight, and that's the reason why he's firing back.
15:01 But eventually, little by little, he's going to, you know, the gas tank will diminish, will deplete a little bit.
15:07 And that's where Murataya, I believe, will step on the gas.
15:11 >> No.
15:12 >> This is a good fight for Murataya because he's-- Endo Jenny is making him think.
15:31 >> Endo Jenny is. He definitely is. He's game. He's here to win this fight tonight.
15:38 >> Ooh, nice short left hook there from Murataya. Catches Endo Jenny about to throw the right.
15:43 >> Ten seconds.
15:46 >> But a lot of the punches that you see in their landing don't really have an effect on Endo Jenny right now, as of now.
15:53 >> Time!
15:55 >> And Murataya will have to have a better effect on Endo Jenny if he's to continue climbing in the rankings because--
16:03 >> He's going down, right?
16:04 >> Danger Murataya at 19 and 0 is ranked number 2 by the WBC, number 5 by the WBO.
16:11 That belt is vacant, as is the IBF belt where he stands number 7.
16:16 We'll see Emmanuel Navarrete against Dennis Parinchik for the WBO belt right here on ESPN May 18th in San Diego.
16:24 And before that, in Australia, we'll see Vasily Lomachenko take on George Camboses on May 12th for the IBF belt.
16:33 So there's a lot of fights to be made all within top rank.
16:36 >> See, that's the thing. There's a lot of things that's working behind the scenes.
16:41 Putting different fighters that have been at the top for a while in position for world championship opportunities.
16:48 These are young guns on the rise up. They gotta sit still for a little while, continue to win, become that number 1 contender.
16:55 You see him moving. You see his ranking right there on the side.
16:59 Become that mandatory for any of those challengers to get your opportunity.
17:04 >> Because you're talking about the Olympic silver medalist, Keyshawn Davis, Abdullah Mason, Emiliano Vargas, who we saw earlier tonight.
17:12 Shakur Stevenson is there. I mean, those guys are climbing. Shakur's already there with the world title.
17:20 But it's difficult to get in there with this crowded, lightweight class that top rank has going.
17:26 >> Yes, it is. >> That's why every performance needs everything from Morataya at this stage of his career.
17:32 >> Yes, it does. >> 20 fights in.
17:34 Nice feint with the jab and then counter with the right.
17:41 Endojeni's there. He's throwing some leather, landing a straight right hand and then a looping right.
17:48 He's in Morataya's grill. I don't know that Morataya expected this from Endojeni.
17:53 >> Endojeni's just taking advantage of the positioning of Morataya.
17:57 Morataya's looking, you know, he'll make one defensive position, he'll go to another one, but those hands just keep flying.
18:03 And eventually something's going to find its way home.
18:06 And that's what's happening. But at the same time, Morataya right now doesn't mind it.
18:11 Because what he's trying to look for, he's trying to punch in between the shots of Endojeni.
18:16 He's trying to catch him as his momentum is coming forward.
18:20 Double impact, trying to time him in between those shots.
18:23 And he's trying to wear him down as well.
18:27 >> Morataya is active with three fights in 2023, as well as 2022.
18:32 Each fight will be extremely important here in 2024.
18:39 The pressure continues to grow on Morataya, not only to shine, but to look convincing every time he wins.
18:48 >> Make the champions have to fight you.
18:54 >> That's a nice right to the body from Endojeni.
18:57 >> There's that jab from Morataya.
19:01 >> You're talking about condition. Endojeni is in top tip, top shape.
19:06 I mean, he can continue to throw shots and take shots like that.
19:09 But man, he has been active since round one and still in this fight letting leather fly.
19:14 >> Now you can see why he went eight rounds with Barbosa.
19:19 He is a 35-fight veteran. This is his 36th fight.
19:24 >> Those right hands are starting to laser. Right hands coming from Morataya.
19:29 Laser. And he's landing it because look at the lead hand of Endojeni.
19:35 >> Down. >> And then he comes back with his own offense.
19:38 Morataya, you can't get relaxed.
19:40 Look, you better get off Morataya and keep getting off or back up and go somewhere.
19:45 We'll take a trip or you're going to receive that damage that Endojeni is letting go.
19:50 >> And he better move to his right because Endojeni's power head is not a good place to be.
19:57 >> Morataya, he makes it a little bit up too.
20:00 I can see his game plan and his maneuver, but sometimes he's choosing the wrong strategy at the wrong time.
20:08 >> We're halfway through this fight. Let's listen in to Endojeni's trainer, Rene Laponte.
20:13 >> How you feeling? >> I'm good. >> You're good? >> Yeah. >> Sure?
20:16 So let's work, baby. Let's work. Give me some water. Beautiful round.
20:21 He only going to work if you work. You're stronger than him.
20:24 He can't hurt you. He can't hurt you, but you can hurt him.
20:29 Do you want to hurt him? Let's stop this motherfucking fight now.
20:33 >> I will push. >> Let's get him.
20:36 >> Boom. Counter punch. Boom. And then body shot after that.
20:43 All right?
20:44 >> Give him 467 points of direct immunity.
20:47 >> And those neck body shots are hurting him. He's got to go for that shield.
20:51 >> He's going to get hurt. He's going to get toast.
20:54 >> I will. We're halfway through, all right? So let's go. Start picking it up now.
20:58 All right? You heard him at the end, so let's start picking it up.
21:00 >> So far, Murataya outlanding Endojenny by 40. Seems a little extreme, Tim.
21:07 Endojenny's been throwing a bunch of them at getting home.
21:10 >> I don't know about all of that, man. Maybe I got to go back and look at that, but I, you know, I don't know.
21:18 Endojenny has been throwing a ton of leather from the opening bell.
21:23 He's thrown 35 more punches than Murataya, but I'd venture to say he's landed more than 50.
21:30 >> Yeah, punch stats are deceiving. They don't tell you the story of the fight.
21:36 Fights are scored round by round, and they're scored by whoever lands the most effective punches during the course of that round, three minutes.
21:49 >> In the corner of Endojenny, they were saying, "Go get him," and Murataya landed a nice left hook and a combination after that.
21:56 >> Ooh, that hurt him. That hurt him.
21:58 >> Uh-oh.
22:00 >> You got to be careful, Tim. You go looking for the knockout, you might find something just like Endojenny did, and that was a left hook from Murataya.
22:07 >> Oh, he found it. Murataya now got his timing down. Endojenny slowed down just a little bit, standing still a little bit too long.
22:13 Murataya now is starting to find his rhythm, finding his range, and he's popping him with combinations.
22:18 >> And now who's moving forward?
22:20 >> It's starting to get dangerous now for Endojenny. Doesn't look good right now for him.
22:25 Although he's behaving like a fighter, supposed to. He's fighting back in spots, and he's still trying to attempt to win this fight.
22:32 But if he keeps getting hit with those right hands like that, once he'll catch him, and it's going to be lights out.
22:38 >> All this while saying it hasn't been the best showing from Raymond Murataya over the first five rounds, but people will forget about it if he can get a finish here against Endojenny.
22:48 >> Well, let's give it up for Endojenny, because he came in here with a game plan, and he was determined.
22:52 >> Yep. And he's sticking to it. I think the moment that his corner asked him to go get it is when he got himself in trouble.
22:59 >> Oh, absolutely. And Murataya feels him starting to weaken and weaken.
23:02 You know, when you're in that ring, you feel the punches coming, they're not coming back the same like they were two rounds ago, three rounds ago.
23:11 Then you start getting comfortable, then you start marching forward like Murataya's doing. He doesn't feel threatened at all.
23:18 >> Yeah, Murataya on the front foot is not what you want to see if you're standing across from him.
23:24 >> The body shots, man, it takes a lot out of you. And you can see right now, it's starting to drain Endojenny right now.
23:33 You see, look at his legs, his position. You see that wide base? When you have that wide base like that, you get hit with shots laterally, it knocks you off balance.
23:49 >> Endojenny taking a good shot here from Raymond Murataya as he starts to find his range in the sixth round.
23:58 There's a quick, whipping one-two from Endojenny.
24:04 As game as they come, didn't come to lay down against the undefeated Raymond Murataya,
24:12 who had some success, Tim, with a combination here in that sixth round that started with a left hook.
24:19 >> Oh yeah, timing, rhythm. You know, once you find your opponent's rhythm and timing, knowing where he's going to be, you're able to set up combinations like that.
24:28 He's just taking advantage of Endojenny in the wrong position right there.
24:32 And the follow-up combinations to finish off what he discovered during the course of this round.
24:39 But see, I love the transition from the head to the body. I love the mix-up in combinations. That confuses your opponent.
24:45 Your opponent sometimes can get used to the same combinations coming, and they're able to avoid it.
24:49 But when you switch it up on them, it confuses them.
24:53 >> And here you're seeing the tool bag that Murataya has at his disposal.
24:59 >> Yes, you are seeing that.
25:01 >> And you're seeing his mental toughness as well, because he has a guy in there that he's hitting with everything, right?
25:07 But he's not going anywhere.
25:09 >> Yep.
25:10 >> So, we're going to see how mentally tough he can remain and see if he's going to continue to stay the course and try to go after this knockout.
25:18 >> Murataya, over his last fights, tends to land 22 of 53 at about a 41% clip.
25:25 Tonight, though, he's being held to 33% efficiency by Sholisani Endogene.
25:32 >> And Murataya's technique this time around, I mean, his left hook is kind of, he's slapping with his left hook.
25:37 He's not turning that shot over like I'm used to seeing him.
25:41 >> Ooh, that's a nice straight right from Murataya.
25:44 And he's finding the range for it, Tim. We saw early on how he overstepped in.
25:48 This time it was that perfect range, and that's a nice left hook from Endogene.
25:52 >> Yeah, shoot, I thought it might have buckled Murataya, Mark.
25:55 I was trying to drop levels real quick. He got clipped with that left hook.
25:58 >> Work out of that, guys. Let him go. Work out. Let him go.
26:02 >> Yo, Castavalle will be looking to become undisputed against fellow unified champion, Senisa Estrada.
26:13 She's in her locker room with her team, Shadow Boxing.
26:19 Pretty soon, she'll be alone, and it won't be a Shadow across the ring from her.
26:23 It'll be Senisa Estrada that'll be going for all the marbles, Tim. This is for real.
26:27 >> Yes, it is. Her life is on the line.
26:30 >> Her life, her future. >> Yep.
26:36 >> You know, being unified champion is great, but undisputed is the dream now in 2024.
26:44 Especially in women's boxing, but that's how you get respect, by being the only champion in a weight class.
26:49 Nice left hook there from Raymond Murataya.
26:51 >> But didn't turn it over.
26:54 >> What do you attribute that to, Tim? Why is he not turning it over? That's one of his best shots.
26:59 >> I attribute it to the weight cut, to be honest with you.
27:03 I mean, I saw him during the week. He didn't come in at 135 pounds.
27:08 You know, it seemed to me like he struggled to make that weight.
27:10 That's why his punches don't have the effect that it once had.
27:14 You've seen him in his previous fights. He's hitting Indonjini flush on the chin.
27:19 Flush on the chin, and he's still around.
27:22 >> But what does that have to do with not turning it over?
27:24 Like, one thing is technique, and one thing is--
27:26 >> That's a mechanical thing. That's just more technique. That's just it. It's technique.
27:30 And how he's throwing the punch. Where he's throwing the punch from.
27:34 A lot of the times, he's throwing it when he's on his back foot,
27:36 and he's not putting enough weight onto that front foot to deliver that left hook.
27:41 He's just throwing it as a counter, a quick counter, instead of setting it up for a kill shot.
27:48 >> You mention one thing all the time, Tim. Fatigue is when your technique starts to break down.
27:58 >> Yeah.
28:00 >> That's a nice right, though, from Rantaya.
28:01 >> Chopping right hand, right there. He's a chopping right hand.
28:06 >> And a quick combination, though, from Indonjini to close out this seventh round.
28:12 [Bell dings]
28:14 [Crowd noise]
28:23 >> You let him work. He's too weak for you.
28:28 >> I know. >> Then what you acting like? What the hell you going back for? Keep working him.
28:32 Put your hands up and go get him. You need that body shot. You saw the body shot, bending him over?
28:36 >> Yes. >> I need another one.
28:42 Don't forget about blocking your face with the jab. Let's start that.
28:46 >> Okay. >> All right? Let's start the round with that. All right?
28:50 He's not gonna throw if he's going backwards. What more do you want?
28:54 He's only gonna throw if you don't throw and you're standing in front of him.
28:58 And he's walking forward. >> You got a chance, all right? Come on.
29:01 You got a team in the bottom.
29:07 >> Okay. Let's go, Raymond. Let's go. Come on. Come on.
29:10 You have to go. Come on. Pick it up. Pick it up. Pick it up. Pick it up.
29:14 Do it smart, all right? Do it smart.
29:16 >> The corner of Raymond Rantaya sees that he needs to pick up his work rate
29:22 and land heavier shots against Endo Geni.
29:25 >> Well, Rantaya, I mean, he's winning the fight and people are going to criticize,
29:29 you know, his performance and, you know, Endo Geni because look, look, Arnold Barbosa,
29:34 a guy that doesn't have a whole lot of power, was able to stop him.
29:38 What round we in? In this round right here. >> That was at 140.
29:41 >> At 140 pounds. So, you know, but he-- I mean, he's doing a lot of good things in there.
29:48 He's looking sharp in spots, but people are watching.
29:55 Let's see what he is in a few more rounds and let's see how he can finish this fight.
30:00 But, again, Endo Geni is a veteran. >> Yes.
30:03 >> He's been in the game. He's been in there with everybody.
30:08 And if he believes that he can win, that's when things get tougher for you in there.
30:14 And that's what's happening. He believes now that he belongs. His corner is amping it up and saying,
30:18 "He's weak. He's weak. He can't hurt you."
30:21 >> Hey, he took Devin Haney the distance in January of 2019.
30:25 He was dropped by a right hand in the first round, but Rantaya hasn't been able to do that
30:30 against Endo Geni so far in this fight.
30:35 Endo Geni came with a game plan and he's been able to stick with it so far for the first eight rounds.
30:42 >> Yeah, well, you know, it's just the consistency of Endo Geni.
30:47 You know, the low points when Morantaya wants to be defensive and not ready and in a position to counter,
30:54 Endo Geni's just letting his hands go, and he's landing.
31:00 But when Morantaya decides to let his hands go and really find his mark, he's able to land as well.
31:06 But Endo Geni, his braveness, the fact that he can take a shot, the fact that he's letting his hands go,
31:11 and he has a desire to win this fight is the reason why he's in this fight. He's still here.
31:17 >> And he's landing some good shots here in the eighth round. Maybe not damaging,
31:21 but he's landed the cleaner shots so far in the first two-plus minutes of this round.
31:28 Nice overhand right from Endo Geni, now a combination.
31:31 >> Work out of that, guys.
31:34 >> Uh-oh. Morantaya seems to have done something here.
31:39 Nice combo there from Endo Geni. Counter left.
31:44 >> It's a live dog in here, Endo Geni.
31:52 >> The timing of Morantaya seems off here. Nice jab, though.
32:01 >> Step back.
32:03 >> The power's off. It's not the same. I'm telling you.
32:08 >> It's not the same. Not a whole lot of leverage on those punches.
32:12 A lot of arm shots tonight from Morantaya. And again, I contributed to a hard weight cut.
32:19 I think 135's gonna be difficult for him to continue to make.
32:23 I think he will make it if there's a belt on the line, but eventually, I think Morantaya, being as young as he is,
32:29 he's gonna move up to 140 pounds.
32:32 >> Take a look, Jambo. How Morantaya has not been the fighter we're used to seeing.
32:37 Crisp, clean, accurate shots. Tonight, there's something missing.
32:43 >> Well, it's the technique. Again, the technique and the way he's throwing shots.
32:49 See this right here? You see the snap? You see the elbow flex? I mean, the wrist flex right there?
32:54 You see how he's throwing it? That's a slap. That's like with the palm of your hand.
32:59 You're not turning those knuckles over and turning those knuckles down.
33:02 You gotta hit with those two big knuckles up front. That's how you punch.
33:07 I learned that from Abel. It was Abel Sanchez that taught me that one.
33:11 And I didn't learn that until later in my career. He throws shots like that.
33:14 But when you throw open palm shots like that, closed fist, it's a slap. That's what it's considered.
33:21 >> But Tim, we've seen him throw that shot. We've seen him put guys out with that shot.
33:25 It's just not there for him tonight. How much of it is it Indogene's positioning, his length, the way he moves?
33:32 Or is it just Muratayo?
33:35 >> It's Indogene. It's a little combination of both. But Indogene, boy, he's a firecracker.
33:41 He's been hot from the opening round, the opening bell. He's been hot.
33:46 And he's making Muratayo work.
33:50 >> One, one, two, three.
33:53 >> I mean, I know what the punches that say, but what I'm seeing with my own eyes is more activity from Indogene.
34:02 >> Yes.
34:04 >> And every time Muratayo throws, there's an answer from Indogene as they both exchange there.
34:10 >> Yes, it is.
34:18 >> Corner of Indogene wants him to go after Muratayo. Of course, they're not feeling the power of Muratayo.
34:24 >> No, he's not feeling the power, and that's the reason why he's not deterred.
34:27 That's the reason why he's not bagging up. That's the reason why he continues to punch.
34:31 Because if you're scared of someone's power, you're not going to throw as often as he's throwing.
34:37 So he's no longer spooked. Fatigue comes in into play as well for Muratayo.
34:43 You see his hands drop.
34:45 >> A little slip right there from him.
34:48 >> That may be Indogene also getting the rigors of the first nine rounds.
34:54 >> But I can just tell you this. Maybe this type of performance will open up doors and opportunities for him.
35:00 >> Yeah, when you don't look great.
35:02 >> So, you know, I mean, it's very sweet. I mean, look, Muratayo, he's doing some good things in there. He is.
35:09 He surely is, and Indogene is fighting back. He's contesting with him.
35:14 You know, without a doubt, he's challenging him.
35:17 >> You know, sometimes being so dominant makes you a scary opponent, and tonight's performance, like you mentioned, may get some eyeballs and get an opportunity for Raymond Muratayo.
35:30 >> But again, when you have Arnold Barbosa knocking a guy out, man, are you supposed to be that next one up?
35:36 You're supposed to knock him out, right?
35:39 >> Yeah.
35:40 >> But again, styles make fights.
35:43 >> And you may not have your best every night you go out there.
35:47 >> No, you don't.
35:48 >> And you see Indogene, that nice overhand right there.
35:51 >> Yep.
35:52 And he lands it because the minute that Muratayo, he just stands there and he's looking to recover.
35:59 Those are opportunities to let your hands go and take advantage of any openings that Muratayo presents.
36:07 >> Watch your hands, guys. Watch your heads.
36:09 [crowd noise]
36:20 >> We're gonna put a final stamp here on the ninth round as we go into the final rest between these two fighters.
36:28 Muratayo ranked number two by the WBC, number five by the WBO, number seven by the IBF, and Tim, when you look at the lightweight division,
36:37 this is ESPN's top ten. Lomachenko, Tank, Shakur, Zepeda, Camposas, Pitbull Crews, Frank Martin, Muratayo, Zaurab Dulaev, and Keyshawn Davis.
36:51 I mean, a lot of these guys will be fighting amongst themselves for belts. Opportunities abound, but you've got to earn that shot.
36:58 >> Too many undefeated guys in this division.
37:00 >> Right.
37:01 >> They gotta start fighting each other. You know, talk the talk, walk the walk.
37:05 Start matching up. You see the top four, top five right here? They need to start matching up.
37:11 Javante Davis included. He needs to start fighting.
37:13 >> He's gonna fight Frank Martin.
37:14 >> And that's great. That's fantastic. That's a great step up for Frank Martin.
37:18 >> Let's go.
37:19 >> However, we need to see you fight the cream of the crop, buddy.
37:22 >> Absolutely.
37:23 >> You know, that's what we need to see. We want to know how great you are.
37:26 >> Last round, fellas. Last round.
37:28 >> Go get him!
37:29 >> And the same goes for everybody in this division.
37:31 >> I agree.
37:32 >> In any division.
37:35 Final round, Shakur.
37:37 Stevenson will see, hopefully this summer, Murataya and Shakur been going at it on social media.
37:45 But doesn't really matter unless it happens inside the ring.
37:48 And right now, Endo Jennings making it happen inside the ring.
37:52 You see he still has something left here in the tenth round.
37:56 Nice straight right there from Murataya.
37:59 >> You know, you know, you know, you know.
38:02 >> Can he follow that up?
38:04 That's another good right hand from Murataya.
38:07 Things starting to heat up for Murataya.
38:10 There's that one-two.
38:12 And he has Endo Jennings back against the ropes.
38:15 His best sequence of the fight so far, but then he lets Endo Jennings come back with something.
38:19 >> He had to recover. He had to recover. It's the last round.
38:23 Murataya hasn't been in the tenth round in a while.
38:26 He's been producing knockouts over and over and over.
38:28 This is good. These are good quality rounds for him.
38:31 >> He's never been in the tenth round.
38:40 He won an eight-round decision against Jair Valdez-Tierra in July of 2022.
38:44 That was his last decision at a nine-fight knockout streak before that.
38:50 And he's on a four-fight knockout streak now that seems hard to extend to five
38:56 because Endo Jennings has given him more than even Murataya expected.
39:03 >> Nice counter.
39:05 Nice counter by Murataya right there just using the shoulder.
39:11 Rolling with that shot. That body shot right there hurt.
39:14 You see Endo Jennings, he's shaking his head.
39:17 He's trying to keep himself in this fight right now.
39:20 >> Don't hold him, guys. Let him go.
39:21 >> The shot might have hurt him.
39:23 >> Murataya's best round, too.
39:25 >> It is. And it's impressive right now because although he might not feel that he was very successful tonight or dominant tonight,
39:36 he's able to keep it together mentally and still come forward and still attempt to go for the knockout.
39:42 That's impressive.
39:45 >> Boom. That was a Chris right hand that landed right there.
39:49 >> Work out, guys. Let him go.
39:53 >> Don't hold him.
39:55 Don't hold him.
40:11 >> A lot of balance issues for Endo Jennings.
40:15 And you know that Murataya still has a lot left even in the tenth round.
40:28 Still extremely skillful and aware.
40:32 It's a good fight. Great battle from Murataya.
40:37 >> Learning experience.
40:39 >> It's really good for him. Yeah, it really is.
40:41 >> In Glendale, Arizona, top-ranked boxing on ESPN+ is presented by AutoZone.
40:53 Get in the zone.
40:55 And that's exactly where Raymond Murataya had to get here in the final round.
41:01 Not his best performance, but nonetheless,
41:04 Tim maybe did enough to come away with a victory against a very tough Zolizani Endo Jennings.
41:11 >> No, I think he came away with a victory.
41:13 I thought he looked sharp in spots.
41:15 Again, there's a possibility he had a tough weight cut.
41:19 You know, if you ask him now, I think he'll let us know.
41:22 I mean, I asked him in the fighter meeting, he said he was okay.
41:25 He wasn't at the 135-pound weight class, weight limit.
41:29 However, he landed some good shots.
41:31 You know, left hooks, right hands.
41:33 He fought at every single range.
41:35 He fought well.
41:37 Anytime there was any low points in his offense, that's where Endo Jennings was coming in.
41:42 You know, I give a lot of credit to Endo Jennings tonight.
41:45 You know, he showed up.
41:47 He had an opportunity.
41:48 He understands the first letter of ESPN, which is "entertain."
41:52 And he came to do that.
