00:03 What's going on?
00:04 Someone's trying to kill us.
00:05 We are trying to kill them.
00:07 You don't know what side they're fighting for.
00:09 I'm Alex Goland, the writer/director of "Cyborg."
00:14 It's a war film in the apocalypse now mode,
00:17 a graph of ramping adrenaline and intensity
00:20 leading to an invasion of Washington, DC
00:23 the journalists are embedded with.
00:26 They're risking their lives to show the world what happened.
00:29 When you're a war photojournalist,
00:31 that's your job.
00:32 Whatever that takes, she's willing to risk her life.
00:36 It's serious, and it's dangerous.
00:38 But in some ways, it's a road trip movie.
00:39 Whilst it's tracking the cross-country through war
00:43 as they make their way towards DC,
00:45 it's also tracking the relationships.
00:49 I'm worried about that girl, and I'm worried about you, too.
00:52 The whole group is at risk because you don't
00:54 know what you're going to face.
00:56 There's no GPS.
00:57 Everything's down.
00:58 No one can use cell phones.
01:00 They're taking the back roads to stay off major highways.
01:04 The United States are vaporizing.
01:06 Every day we're given this very hardcore scenario.
01:12 The way that Alex shot it was really intelligent
01:18 because he didn't do it in a traditional style.
01:21 The cameras were almost invisible to us.
01:23 It felt immersive, and it felt incredibly real,
01:26 and it was chilling.
01:28 Go, go, go!
01:29 When I read the script, like, this is no ordinary thing.
01:33 Having found the guy who directed
01:34 "X-Men, Arkham Annihilation," I really
01:37 think that Alex is brilliant.
01:39 It doesn't mind you.
01:41 That's how I felt reading the script.
01:42 It was like nothing I'd ever read before.
01:45 I was trying to make people participate
01:47 in the movie imaginatively rather than sit back
01:49 and have it happen to them.
01:52 It shook me when I first saw it to my core,
01:55 but also I thought it was very moving.
01:58 It's a hell of a story, and it's a hell of an experience.
02:02 Alex!
02:03 Get over here!
02:04 Now!
